I think that a 150 km tall pyramid would be very useful for humanity. Unlimited practical applications.
For example, humanity doesn't build now solar plants in space because we can't bring the energy on Earth from space safely. With a 150 km tall building, we could transport the energy from space by physically plug it.
I really thing such a building could be built.
There are rocky deserts like the one near Vegas. In the desert, a base of 150 km -200 km is nothing, lots of empty space.
It wouldn't cost trillions of dollars, it is not made so millions of people live in it. Just a skeleton with cables for energy transport and elevators for human maintenance teams.

He’s talking about a story in the Bible. The Tower of Babel is a story in the book of genesis, where people wanted to see how far they can build. They wanted to see if it was possible to build their way to heaven to see God himself, but God was like oh hell nah so he gave each and every worker a different language so they wouldn’t be able to communicate or understand each other. This prevented any other further construction of the tower. Apparently those are the origins of how all languages came to be.

Carbon Bucky tubes would be light and strong enough to construct a space elevator, but mass production of them would still be a problem to overcome. There is also some concern about atmospheric friction and heat that would have to be addressed. But until we build a space elevator, we are limited to semi-reusable rockets as lift bodies to deliver comparatively small payloads.
