"Tasalsul II" draws inspiration from Luciano Berio’s Sequenza II for solo harp, initially echoing its opening before evolving into a melodic, sorrowful lullaby with microtonal nuances from the Arab maqamat. The harp shifts into a perpetual motion, showcasing pyrotechnic plucking across its range, punctuated by moments of ululation produced by rapid pedal changes. Climaxing with arpeggiated, tertian-based harmonies adorned with pedal glissandi, the piece concludes by retracing its opening, evoking a journey back home. This was performed by Parker Ramsay in the Netherlands as part of the 2024 Gaudeamus Festival.
Its not everyday we get fresh Saad music dropping, so this is special...in fact, it has inspired me to revisit and explore the other amazing entries in this ongoing series or sequence of solo miniatures. Like the previous compositions in this set, the level of difficulty for the performer here must be palpable, but as before, they nail it!!! Im not nearly as studied on modern harp repertoire/techniques and this concept uluation, is completely new to me...that is what necessitated the need for 4 staff lines correct? Also, the dotted slur passages sounded incredible, is that also achieved through the pedaling I assume??? Really cool piece all around, the lower note harmonics sound really well through the texture...probably my favorite part(s)

❤❤❤❤
Right Back at ya 💕
Is the Harp itself in tune from the start to 2m 05s?
There’s scordatura on a bunch of the pitches
Beautiful work ❤
Thank you Simon! ✍🏽✍🏽✍🏽

Can’t credit the harpist Parker Ramsay enough!
Can I hear a version where the notation itself plays?
Not sure what you mean. This is the only audio version of the piece so far
@@saadhaddadmusic I believe she wants a cursor to move with the music to catch up with where we are in the score.
I love how this is so idiomatic for harp, but it doesn’t feel like (most) harp music.
a lot of fun to write as well!
Nice 🔥🔥🔥🔥
what temperament system does this piece use? I dont think ive heard harp outside of 12tet before
It’s built on a series of Arab maqamat
