- Mike Graham is joined by Talk presenter Peter Cardwell to discuss Natalie Elphicke’s defection to the Labour Party from the Tories.
Labour MPs have criticised Sir Keir Starmer’s decision to welcome Tory defector Natalie Elphicke, the second MP to cross the floor in two weeks.
Ms Elphicke quit the Conservatives just moments before Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday, hitting out at Rishi Sunak’s “tired and chaotic government” and accusing the Prime Minister of failing to deliver on his promise to “stop the boats”.

Labour, conservative not the best people to vote for.
Both parties need to go
Both dedicated to appeasing terrorism
By jumping ship is not a democratic process..To be an independent or resigned should be the right thing..
I fear for this country . Political parties are a busted flush
Thought the small boats and the NHS was the main problems, nothing new then.
We shouldn't worry. We live in an era where principles don't matter. Many Labour supporting candidates switched to Conservatives as it was a winning team. They are jumping ship as the Conservatives can no longer make them winners. Now they are sure Starmer will win, so they just go with the flow. Labour principles died with Harold Wilson and Tory principles died with Thatcher. What we have now are long blades of grass that sway with the direction of the wind. SPINELESS WONDERS!!
As far as sunak is concerned I think he should defect allso, before everybody else in his party beats him to it...
Actually, that would be pretty funny. 😂
Straight to America, with His Moderna Shares Green Card in his sticky little hands
He’s either dipping the wick or there’s some form of corruption going on
I am confused as she is for stopping the boats and he is for letting them in 🤔 so why has she joined labour ??? I think something has been promised as to betray your own party and go to your enemy something has definitely been cooking between them
Small boat problem has exploded after we left the EU, Starmer wants closer cooperation with the EU
Borders have 2 sides something the thiko brex1teers don't seem to realise
And labour aren't for letting them in there for for processing them in a timely manner and shutting down the smuggling
@@SlowhandGreg I think labour are dreaming plus Starmer cannot makeup his mind and changes it like the weather
@@SlowhandGregStop defending Tory Starmer.
@@Noel-ji8nm I'm not I'm just pointing out that this is a problem created by the Tories, there were no small boats in 2010
@@SlowhandGreg You could end the crossings tomorrow if you opened up safe routes.
Sunak's secret weapon - let the voters know that if they want LABOUR then they're better off sticking with TORY and if they want TORY then they need to vote LABOUR!
The 2 parties have certainly shifted ground.
Plot twist! 😅
Natalie Elphicke’s defection is bizarre although some of the indignant from certain Tory MP’s is hypocritical. Lisa Cameron MP jumped ship from the SNP to the Tory party.
It's a none starter we don't want them
Here we go, hee's in not even power yet and he is making a f*ck up allready straight off the bat, not even left the gate yet, you would think it have been obvious to most people in stammer position to avoid any controversy of any kind...stupidity, he needs to think first before he makes any decision specially when it's partially personal between him and sunak...
Labour may have changed, just need to change it's Leader ASAP
Is she advising Starmer, on how to Spin The Grooming Gang's Problem ?
She has done this to keep her job . Not for the people who vote for her
LOOK… Peters got some books and wants you to know it too….
😂
What a load of nonsense for the last two years we’ve had nothing but piss take from both parties while the country suffers.
We need a party to support British people and people that want to be British where ever they may have choose to come from to live legally in ourgreat county, unfortunately the Two parties we have had over the last 30 years had not been patriotic at all. There policy seans to have been to end true British culture to a culture to fit elitetist globist greedy people at any cost. Shame on then all.
Elphicke is standing down at the next election.
Labour will retain their existing candidate in Dover and Deal at the next general election and Mrs Elphicke will stand down. The constituency replaces Dover, where Mrs Elphicke had a majority of 12,278 at the last election, following boundary changes
Who cares she's stepping down in the next election 😂😂
She will be a lord very soon
Politics in this country is the worst I’ve seen it in 40 years, I long for the days of proper leadership, statesmanship from the likes of Maggie T, even Blair. This shower are a disgrace.
Thatcher is why we are here, the root causes of our economic woes
@@SlowhandGreg Tired old nonsense, she hasn’t been in power for 34 years - successive labour and Tory governments haven’t been able to undo the “damage” she caused then? Greatest leader since Churchill.
@@brianf3207 In today's money she asset stripped the uk of 1.3 trillion, under taxed north sea oil by 1/2 a trillion and spent the equivalent of 3.5% of gdp in oil receipts on tax cuts.
Right to buy has stripped 2 million homes from the public sector with rent and property prices rising by 66% from 2010 to current with zero wage growth
Councils are spending 20 billion a year on housing support to the private sector and energy customers spent 170 billion in 2023 up from 30 billion in 2020, oh and our rivers are full of sh1t
This is Thatchers legacy
@@SlowhandGreg Somebody has been on Google, she was in my opinion as someone who grew up in the 80s a great leader and wanted people to stop relying on the state - make your own success and wealth, work for it. I and many of my generation have made a good life by getting on with it, working hard and earning a good living. That’s her legacy to me. The U.K. was respected under her leadership, she destroyed the power of the unions who strangled us in the 70s, stood up to the Warsaw Pact and realised we had to improve relations with our most powerful ally, geopolitically she was a great and well respected leader which reflected on us. No leader is perfect in a democracy, it’s the trade off if you don’t want the poison of socialism to destroy your country. I thought she was great.
@@brianf3207 she bribed a generation with thier own money and asset stripped the country for future generations as well as wasting an oil legacy on unrepeatable tax cuts instead of investment in infrastructure.
Lack of housing costs councils 20 billion in support a year and selling off utilities creates a 50 billion black hole in government budgets as well as burdening uk customers with high utility bills. Public transport is a joke this is Thatchers legacy.
Labour isn’t any different to the Tories. They will allow more illegal immigrants in anyway….why does she think Labour will be any different ??
You're expecting truth ? Honestly?
Didn't they take Nadine Dorris with open arms
Nadine hasn’t joined Labour! She is working as a columnist for The Daily Mail
Vote reform
More bullshit
