Yes. That's one of my pet peeves. The only reason to make noise is if you're threatened by a larger predator, or losing track of your group, etc. And if you're quiet, prey sometimes will cluelessly walk near you. And you conserve energy. Large predators who aren't scared of anything and who could see each other easily from long distance have very little reason to ever make noise. You can see that now. Grizzly Bears are so quiet that it's almost surreal. Trainers have to work with them and bribe them with fish to get them to growl.
