I really enjoyed watching your discussion! I just re-watched the Vinegar Syndrome 4K and it looks incredible. I agree with the Gremlins 2 parallel, I would also throw Batman Returns in there. I love it when a filmmaker can make a hit in a more classic style and then go in the bonkers direction with a sequel! With TCM, I think 1 & 2 are both excellent movies. Part 2 is more re-watchable for me because I'm more often in the mood for bonkers fun over extremely effective and horrifying.
Thank you so much! I agree with you on rewatch value. Maybe it's my age, but it's much easier to throw on something that's fun. Batman 2 is a good comparison as well.
this is my fav horror film of all time, easily. been watching it since I was a kid on vhs, and do now have the blu ray and looks great. worth the upgrade? we'll see!
@@4K_Kings I'll have to watch the disc first but the slip is most likely the best slip ever made and the release is stacked with extras. Unless the transfer is a dud this has to be top 5.
@@raisedonfiction VS has been killing the slip game. This same style is like Amityville, Censor & Raw Nerve which I picked up recently. It's always crazy to me how the inner slip is just as rigid as the outer one.
I ordered this myself and it just came in. Beautiful packaging, and the transfer seems to be pretty good so far. I first saw this movie in High school. I remember always seeing the box at blockbuster, but the cover was different. It was Hopper solo wielding a chainsaw or two. I remember always skipping over it because.of how stupid it looked compared to the original, but one day after many months of skipping it, I rented it and thought it was hilarious. Finally, I don't know which idea makes Tobe Hooper sound more insane? The idea that the first chainsaw massacre is also a black comedy or that he actually directed Poltergeist, ZING!

Outside of the original 1-4, the other ones that I have seen (which is most, surprisingly) were all out of order in my viewings. I do think overall it's a strong franchise, especially compared to others.
2 was garbage. An hour and a half of people yelling and screaming it was absolutely horrible the first time I saw it when I was a kid and it was completely forgettable there was zero story to it
What's your favorite TCM entry? Did you pick this up? Let us know below!
The original is a perfect film, ask Tarantino.
It's no Crystal Skull.
Picked it up, watched it. Excellent transfer and presentation by VS.

it's scary, even as an adult actually.. the music does it for me. now imagine watching it at 8 yrs old

The slipcover is sick in hand. The photography on the thicker paper stock VS uses for their slips looks amazing.
Cant wait to check it out in person. Is it in your top 5 for the year?

That opening bridge scene is iconic. Awesome, hilarious performance by Bill Moseley. Great final girl. Classic.
A classic that needed to be done in 4k and also glad vinegar syndrome did the release
I'm a fan of this movie and of the work that Vinegar Syndrome does. So I'm happy, it looks like it will be a great release.
I finally upgraded to the 4K disc. They wasn’t cheap, but I got it locally and this is vinegar syndrome release. Very cool very crisp.

😂😂😂
It has genuinely creepy moments tho. Chop Tops entrance scared me as a child and an adult alike tbh.
It's probably this one. The comedy is pitch perfect.
I love the Texas chainsaw massacre 2
4:10 MATT have you really not seen this yet? If not, I’ll ship you my Blu-ray for free that I upgraded from
