That guy is a genius you can’t pay for reputation you gotta build it . That gesture will forsure gain em a bunch of loyal customers that do stick around for the hard times and for those who leave the hobby once it’s not profitable anymore thank god we didn’t want em around in the first place .
100% they are, bro my local cardshop that I have been buying from for years is selling prismatic way over MSRP. And what’s crazy is that I pay a membership with them 25 bucks a month. At release they always have ETBs below MSRP 29.99. Every single time a set comes out. With this set they are charging “member price”100 dollars non member 120. If that’s not some weasel shit idk what is. Makes it worse when you pay a damn membership a month too 🤦♂️
How often do they hold cardshows? Like how often do you take advantage of the savings? I don't think I'd ever pay that much per month just to be a member of a show... sounds crazy
@ sorry I meant card shop local card-shop. 25 bucks a month to get member pricing but they forsure increased the price for this set. Before this set ETBs would be 29.99 at release and booster boxes 91.99. But I think year they for-sure are weaseling
@@Ajia_No_Envy I spend a lot more than the average collector with them so when I buy in bulk it makes sense to have a membership, but to be marking up the ETBs to 100 for members is wild. That shows no loyalty to us. I can understand MSRP because of how scarce it is but double MSRP when I already pay 25 bucks a month smh. Yea definitely not continuing
Release day there was a long line at a local lgs of 35+ people. 2 products per person. Marked at 75% "market" prices. Everyone at least was able to get something and it wasn't too bad considering there was fighting in other stores to find anything.
This is an L take right here. Card stores that charge over msrp are pure greedy scalpers. They already make money when they buy wholesale pricing. If they depend on 1 product every 3-5 months to stay afloat they are doing it wrong and shouldn't stay in business.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you’re the actual scalper here, you’re mad because you’re unable to scalp, there’s no money left of the table for you to throw up on eBay. I know many store owners, and when they do sell above MSRP it’s usually just above it, and just bellow “Market” price. Just enough so that if you tried yo sell it on eBay, there isn’t any money left after shipping and fees. They aren’t stupid, they know who the fans are, they know when you’re a Johnny come lately, they know you didn’t buy from them before. Almost all of them have transitioned to open in store policies, they tell the plastic off when they sell, to further scare off the riff raff. Good luck
Define "market price". Scalper and manipulator can dictate market price. If they charge somewhere between scalper price and MSRP then I can understand, but they go with the scalping price. I will never go back to that store. If they make bad business decision, why would I as a consumer pay for that?
IMO this guy is either inexperienced or delusional, because in a bear market most if not all of his customers will not be supporting him because in a bear market nobody's got money to spend.
I thought the video was a self pat in the back. This guy didnt lose 100,000. Potential unrealized profits are not a loss. Also 60% of the people who purchased will be gone in 6 months. 20% will only buy from the lowest business. 10% will check his store first and the other 10% will stay loyal. But the good will he made on those 10% that will stay loyal made him selling at msrp worth it.
Yeah, as a card store, you have an obligation to charge no higher than MSRP. Put it this way, you think the Pokemon Company is fine with stores charging triple MSRP? If you wanna scalp, don't have a storefront.
It’s not the communities responsibility to sustain businesses that don’t do the consumers any favors. Is it our job to fork up market prices because they need to pay rent? Perhaps they need to look for a career change. I’ve seen LCS clear out big market stores by using multiple people to go hunt for product. This takes MSRP products out of the consumers hands. 100% support businesses that mark up every so slightly.
Yeah, I’m only going to Big box stores from now on, they care so much about us. 😂 make millions in profit and never exploit anyone for any reason. And they sell Pokemon cards at msrp too?!?! Omg We’re such good people 😊
Glad he helped the community but reality is when Pokémon enters a Bear market 2/3 of the people who bought from him at Msrp are going to disappear/leave the hobby.
If you are explaining your loosening. It was ridiculous to charge at pre release market prices.. when there they were obviously planning on selling them at MSRP prior to the hype.. they just got greedy and made a couple extra bucks. The shops around here were selling them for 140, we know they get them from distribution for roughly 35.. by noon market place and offer up had as many as you wanted for about 100 bucks.. so it was honestly cheaper to buy from the scalpers at that point.. price gouging is gross If they want to stay competitive with the big box stores and the vending machines they can’t act like this. If you’re so close to folding you have to try and squeeze an extra 50 bucks out of kids and collectors to keep the lights on your business is already done..
Yeah, it can be a little tough to keep up with him cause of all his videos... maybe if he combined a couple of the topics/ideas into less videos... Or just posted less videos each day (posted less frequently)...
all the card stores in Miami have the damn ETB for $135+ I hit 4 targets and 3 Walmarts and cant find any product, No one can get anything , not casual, investors or scalpers.
I’m in Miami too and just gave up on finding shit in stores. LGS Pro Play games in Doral is right next to me and they legit said they were pricing their PE ETBs off TCG. When I asked them why TCG has it at $119 and theirs were still at $155, they gave the scamble “ugh oh yeah it’s just the way we priced it when it dropped, so outta fairness to the first people who purchased it, we gotta keep it at that number” 😑 hope scalping the community that supports you for an extra $20-30 is worth it in the long run. Dueces ✌️
@@GirthConfirmed yeah it's scummy , no respect for those stores, I'll sit on my two pre-orders I got from Pokemon Center for the surprise box , I'll only be buying product from Big Retail businesses.
@@animatorsparadise1right. Which also blows because in today’s market (esp in Miami), you either have to get in line at 5 AM day of release or hope you get lucky online. Because Targets and Walmarts are just cleaned every day

@FamousJX I don't care, Target charges $5 above msrp for an etb , why my game store have to charge 300% , if they need one product to stay afloat they shouldn't be in business anyone with s store knows not to solely rely on one product my own Store had a variety of products and I know not to get too cocky even if one product sells really well because it's short lived.
you make a bad case for defending stores. Scalpers also have bills to pay. lmao In this case BOTH are the same. And all the people who defend stores would go to secondary market in an instant if prices were lower.
Fast forward to 2026: The title of the video will be: “I lost everything! Going out of business, What now? “ The community does NOT care about you, they just want cheap Cardboard.
Pokemon Center should have increased MSRP for this product at the start. Would have prevented scalping. Harder for scalpers to make 10% profit on an item versus 100% profit.
No, Pokémon Center should do like it’s always done and allow for pre-orders more than eight hours. They have now reduced the limit to two ETB‘s per purchase, but they’ve always had 2 to 3 weeks to make pre-orders. If you sit there and limit supply, this is what happens. You screw your loyal customers who have been buying for years, and you cater to the scalpers and the bots. They don’t care because they got their money. Meanwhile, collectors who have been through this for years are being screwed.
Anyone who hoards a product he wants to charge a ridiculous price for it, I hope they get stuck with it. I could care less about you losing money. I could care less if you get stuck with it. You are nothing but a effing scalper.
