My daughters 2021 Kia Seltos stalled while driving and then restarted. The engine light was on so she took it to her mechanic. The mechanic told her it's under warranty so it's best to take it to the dealer. The Dealer had to replace the cam and phaser because of the loose roll pin just like you described. It was under warranty and there was no charge. This is a common issue with Kia's. I think she had about 70,000 miles on the car.
I swear the only people that buy them are the ones who what that new car feeling but can't afford much else. Any car company should know how to build an engine by now. It's a darn shame crap like this gets put out just to save a buck.
Luv the videos. Mike is super, super smart and absolutely knows what he's doing. Great to see the teardowns

You're gonna need a cam unfortunately. Very common problem for this engine. same engine in the seltos, and same problem.
Unfortunately building cars is not KIA’s “Forte”
Nice!
😱😳that a oh #hit..but ya got a good mechanic to figure it out...❤😊
Why do people keep wasting their money on Kia?
Go with Toyota/Honda if you're gonna' go Asian.
Support companies that build reliable vehicles.

Where I live you're lucky to get insurance for a Kia.
For real, why do people keep buying these?
They aren't reliable, they're easily stolen; what the hell is the upside here?
Check for oil starvation, the cam bearing most likely scored. Seen it on the Konas
Mike, was the 2.0 manufactured by ford company?
Lets see chevy.
How many miles on that engine? Shocking if it’s 30k, not surprising if it’s 200k.
Stop buying KIAs people
