MESSAGE Communication in Dementia Introduction

Dementia can affect a person's ability to communicate.
Effective communication is central to a person's self-esteem, social life and quality of life. Therefore it is important to help people with dementia to maintain their communication abilities for as long as possible.
MESSAGE is a set of real life strategies designed to help facilitate communication with people with dementia. There are two versions of MESSAGE, one for care staff working with people with dementia and one for carers at home.
