I used to work in a department store in the 80s and hearing "Alfred Dunner" brought back memories. That was some major polyester! Love seeing the soap and jewelry making - you two are so multi-talented. My dad used to drink black coffee every day. He passed away last Sept at age 91 and still drank it daily, loved seeing your dad fix and drink his. Thank you! 💚🌿

Eight O'Clock is good coffee. Really nice outdoor cooking set-up. Would be a good stove for canning.

Ive found that adding a table spoon of powdered eggs it will take care of the grounds not caught by the screen. Have used this for wine making for years, it works a treat.

I’ve been making coffee like this for years. One of the benefits is that you don’t get that burnt like taste. The one I have is made of glass. I think this version is more practical. Thank you Matt and Corie! 😊🇨🇦
I've been using a French press years now. I have a newer one bc the last one cracked. I love it. Never saw one like your Dad has. Of course I don't look through camping items. I hope it works well for him.
I'm glad to see Austn with a life jacket. I live near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland and there are reports of drownings every few weeks. It sad to hear about these every time especially when wearing the proper floatation device is so easy. Who cares what it looks like as long as you come back safe.

Hi! I just bought some “Eight O’Clock” brand coffee the other day at the new Food City that we just got here in Cookeville, TN. It has a coffee grinder machine that you can fresh grind the brand’s coffee beans! I remember going to the A & P Grocery Store, back in the 50’s - 60”s, where the Eight O’Clock Coffee brand was carried and the cashiers used to be the ones to grind it for you at check out. I loved walking in that store and the smell of fresh ground coffee, lol! Your dad knows and drinks a good old brand of coffee !

I love my coffee in the morning. When I visit my daughter, she makes us coffee from her French press and it is Soooo..delicious. I don’t have the patience for making it and I savor this time spent drinking it with her 😊. Love the video 🥰
The music box plays the theme song from the 1970 hit movie Love Story, if you haven’t seen it, it’s a MUST💕 love French pressed coffee it’s like fancy cowboy coffee🤠 I’ll keep my eye out for that new soap love both scents!!

That music box had the theme from Love Story on it, in sounds like. The 1970 film that everyone went bonkers over (I wasn't alive, but my mom loved it). We don't see stuff like that anymore...that's a neat item to go on the curio shelf :)

0:57 I flipping love Katie! Hahaha…. Hey Corie I just wondered if you have ever made your own lye? I know I’ve heard old timers talk about making soap too and how they got up some wood ashes and meat rinds and made soap. Said they would boil the lye… I know you can boil lye to clean and take rust off of old foothold traps to get them ready. I know I’ve seen your soap making video but I just wondered if you’ve done it this way too? 👍
I’ve never done it that way but I’ve been watching videos about it lately and I want to try!

So glad to see Austin wearing a life jacket. So many people, especially the young, think it will never happen to them. We have a river nearby. It's not that fast moving, but it's cold most of the time. Every year we lose so many people from drowning. It's very sad. Safety first.

Katie looked like she was having a really good time in Wal-Mart. I hate going to Wal-Mart and finding that they are out of what I went there for because I then have to come home, change out of my pajamas, take a shower and shave. Put on some nice cloths and then go to Target to find what I need.

Your dad is a man after my own heart. I just bought the same Stanley French Press and absolutely love it. I have had several but like the Stanley the best. Great coffee. Can't believe how much further along your trees are compared to Michigan. We are just starting to get warm. Loved Katie's Wallmart dance!

I have a little shelf thingy just like that. I don't know if you realize it but all of your little knobs unscrew so that you can take it apart if need be. Be sure to take pictures of it put together before you do take it apart so you have something to go by. I got mine at a garage sale for $10 because it was so rickety and shaky. When I got home I started checking it out and realized that it was just loose so I tightened everything up. I really love mine. Blessings for all of you and your family. God is good, all the time!
I had a wind chime made from rocks cut like that. It made such a pretty sound.
Those glass wear is called depression glass. At one time people would by quaker oats and there would be one of these items in the container, and if you and your friends would save each piece, someone in the group or family of relatives or friends would end up with a nice full set of dishes, cups,plates ect.

I love coffee, and I would love to try the way your dad just did his, but I add stevia and coffee matte to my coffee. Ha! While watching your dad make coffee I learned how to use my Stanley french press that I got as a gift. 😊 I learn better by watching how to do stuff. I don't drink coffee, "jitter juice", because it makes me feel nervous, but I like herb teas, especially rooibos. You can use french presses for loose leaf teas. That kayak looks real sturdy. Nothing dorkey about Austin or his kayak & vest. 😃 That TN rock was real pretty & so was that last jeweley piece shown with the three stones. Thanks for another great video! 🌸

Katie, your jewelry is beautiful!! My husband is a gold and silversmith & he used to make a lot of special orders. We also used to have booths in arts & crafts shows, mostly in Santa Fe, NM & people from around the world now own pieces he made! He had to put his jewelry business on hold to take care of his drywall & painting business when it got really busy. Great video!!! I love that Katie is collecting things she loves for her some day house 😊. Lavender and Tea Tree soap. Yummy smell I think. And I am really impressed with Matt's new coffee maker. I have one thats just a simple percolator like he usually uses, but the french press looks perfect for camping and power outages or just any time. Just wondering if the coffee is stronger. We have seen the kayakers near Bryson City when we took the train. Either that's kind of scary or I'm getting old lol 😊. Yall have a great weekend!

I don't drink coffee either, but when I was working with sled dogs in Wyoming we would mix hot chocolate apple cider and tea. It was warm and had as ton of flavor.

Katie, I paid storage for five years n wish I’d never done it. Buy a little building n put by parents or granny’s house n it can be moved to your house one day. Or buy apull behind hallmark type enclosed trailer n park n store stuff in it. Then u can use for rock business one day. I did both these things and alll that stuff I paid $150+/mo for five years is now in the buildings and trailer. I need to get rid of it! Lol

I bought a French press 3 months ago. It's made in Germany and is almost entirely double paned glass except for the lid and press parts. Nothing like French press coffee!

Next to Katie and Corie playing their fiddle and guitar, I really enjoy these Day In The Life videos. Something that jumped out at me from this one is Matt referring to black coffee as "bare-footed." That's brand new to my ears and it struck me as totally cool. You can be sure that I'll be using it to describe my black coffee in the future. Thanks, Matt! Katie made me laugh out loud when she identified one of her rock specimens as "a piece of Moroccan Sea Maggot" at 12:56. (Curious whether the gigantic petrified Sea Maggot come out of the sea off Morocco's Alboran Sea coast east of Gibraltar or out of the sea off Morocco's Atlantic coast west of Gibraltar?) 😂

That is so much like my grandmothers. And depression glass is so pretty! I just love music boxes! I could almost smell the coffee! But I would have to have milk and sugar or what we use to call as kids "coffee milk". One thing I miss most about my parents old house is the porch swing. We use to sit and I would play guitar while my daughter sang. HA My daughter now rents out Kayaks. They do photo tours on this one bayou. Scares me to death with all the alligators in the water. She is a wealth of knowledge to tourist as she is a master naturalist. I was always in our lake in front of our house, so I guess she comes by it honest. Have a wonderful week! That glass looked like glasses that were sold at the jewelry stores in our small town, which came in green, gold & pink. This was 1961. I think they were a copy of depression glass called “thumbprint” pattern. When you got a glass from The Jewel Box it was either a wedding or graduation present for our “hope chests”, & we were big stuff when someone was rich enough & thought enough of us to give such an extravagant gift. Do girls still have hope chests?
