We moved to Lakeland from Orlando. I live in the Southwest area and everything is just within walking distance from hospitals to grocery stores and we don’t pay any HOA. It’s quiet and peaceful too.
That's great! No HOA is pretty awesome, right? Yep, that area of Lakeland is nice and quiet but still close to everything you need. Thanks for sharing :)
It’s awesome indeed if you don’t pay any HOA. Our neighbors are mostly retired professionals so they’re always busy cleaning their lawns or backyard :) One of the many things I love living here is the proximity to everything. I don’t have to drive when I go shopping or when I go to the hospital for check ups or lab work. We live in the city center and yet it’s very peaceful, clean and quiet.
@@TheSmartTrapper That sounds awesome! Downtown Lakeland is amazing :)
I live in Lakeland and we love the farmers market on Saturdays. It really is a great place to live. Plus, we have Grady Judd 💕
I miss living in Lakeland Florida
Great informative video presentation…! Looks like a great place to call home😎👍
Great overview of the area. My wife and I are in pre-retirement planning and have been narrowing in on Lakeland. We love the area and the 55+ communities.
Thank you 🙏🏼 That’s exciting! It’s a great place to retire-so many things to do and nice people to meet. We’re heading to the drive in there tonight 🙂❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
I’m happy to answer any questions too if you have them. Take care 🙂
Thank you so much for this!
There are very few areas I would actually live in, but this is a good list of the positive things about my home town. The charter schools are much better than the regular public schools. There is still a lot of oppressed thinking throughout the town. It’s also over an hour to any beach. There is great fishing and boating in the channel lakes. You can take flying lessons at Lakeland Linder Airport, and it just became a hub for Amazon shipping. So, there are a lot of new jobs in warehousing, which is abundant in the city. There are also extremely high end homes and many millionaires from the Jenkins family that founded Publix Supermarkets, to the Badcocks who started a chain of mid prices furniture stores. Lakeland is the birthplace of Red Lobster, so you can thank it for your cheddar bay biscuits. Bar B Ranch has great hiking trails with lots of wildlife (Gators). Polk State is a good junior college that wasn’t mentioned. And the Lakeland Regional Medical Center and Watson Clinic are starting to make an impact in central Florida healthcare.
This is great info! Thanks so much 😀🙏🙏
I prefer Hallandale beach Florida beautiful city good beaches and restaurants and growing businesses and communities, and good nightlife.
Txs for the video, I'm thinking on moving there in the future 🙂💯👍
Cool, if you’re like me, you won’t regret it 😎🙏🏼
Planning on moving to Lakeland in the new year. I'm so excited.
Awesome! That IS exciting :) Be sure to let me know if you need anything :)
How’s the weather ?
Thanks!
Thanks
I’m transitioning out of the Military in a year I was wondering if there was any good colleges to go to if I chose to live there
Thanks for the video we’re getting ready to move to Tampa Florida my daughter is transferring there she’s a single mother with one son and I am moving there with her we are moving in August of this year it’s a bit scary for us as we’ve never lived anywhere but Missouri. She takes me on vacation for Mother’s Day every year to Florida
Hi! Oh I’m so excited for you all. Moving to a new state can feel overwhelming-I know! It helps to have someone here to ask questions of. So don’t hesitate to reach out and good luck with everything!
@@realestateTampa Thank you so much.
I am a Florida man. Sadly I could not make it there but I did apply for a job in Lakeland....sadly with a negative result. I will still fight to move back to Fl someday, not soon :S
Yes, I hope you get to move back soon :)
Thank you for your video everyone has a different opinion especially the locals and there's nothing wrong with the knowing everything and then making your decision based on everybody's opinion... my son and his fiance are moving their they're building a house
Local here, the old courthouse/museum is located in Bartow, not Lakeland
Thank you for the correction! 😀🙏
FYI - The courthouse/history center is in Bartow not Lakeland.
Hi, thank you. Yes, a nice local reached out to me right after I posted this video. I appreciate your letting me know ;)
Looking to relocate to Lakeland from Pennsylvania I wanna be close to Disney and uni and Tampa. Figured Lakeland was a good choice
Exactly! It's really a great location and I4 is very convenient (but CRAZY traffic too)
Great video. 👍
I'm emailing you!
id rather be homeless in Florida than in nyc I hate this dam place!
Your money will go a lot further in FL. Homelessness unlikely
Hola mi nombre es marilin me podrias alludar a buscar renta hay te lo agradecería mucho
What is the drive time from Lakeland to Tampa? Is it bad traffic? Do people live in Lakeland and work in Tampa?
Hi, yes some people do commute from Lakeland to Tampa. I4 is great (except when it's terrible!😆) Usual traffic means it's less than an hour--40-50 minutes 😎
@@realestateTampa thank you kindly! That helps with my decision making.
How safe is this town regarding hurricanes
50~60 miles from both east and west coast. About middle of central FL.
This video should have been titled "this is how Lakeland is if you have money". Now how about you show the real Lakeland Florida like the houses on Kathleen, or the Lake Gibson area and not the mansions that nobody can afford without putting themselves into debt.
Stay away from Lakeland and stop driving up our Rents! Lol
Schools should not be on this list🤣
I've heard so many opinions about schools, so I'd love to do some good research and find out more about them.
Lincoln Avenue Academy is an Excellent A school and once you graduate for LAA your able to go to Lawton chiles Middle Academy which is also a A school. It also does many high school classes so you don’t have to worry in high school. For example: Algebra 1 and Geometry.
@@whiter_rxses6198 Thanks for this! Great info!
Reason number 2 , a thriving downtown district ? Are you kidding ? Its definitely NOT thriving !! 80% to 90% of the year , it's very hot and humid to be outside for long periods of time!! Shopping ?? If you like consignment shops !! The schools here are getting better but when only 50% or less of the students graduate , somethings wrong here ! There are NOT multiple reasonable places to live in and around this city , a lot of people still live in run down mobile homes and when the rainy season and hurricane season starts here , Every june 1st , those mobile homes and the many shabby built homes here by dishonest builders get destroyed by the daily afternoon thunderstorms , and lastly .... the lakeland police department is corrupt to its core ..... if your looking for justice , it's best to go with Grady Judd and the sheriff department and by pass Lakeland police all together , they definitely do NOT have Lakeland citizens best interests in mind !!
I ALWAYS live in the county not the city. Except in Auburndale or Winter Haven.
Guys don’t do it it actually sucks living here !!!
Why?
Because there are too many people moving here lol.
I’m only saying that it’s good for older people but not for teenagers it’s pretty nice downtown but everywhere else is meh. A lot of trump supporters
@@Johnnysmithy24 the whether is pretty hot and humid and there is a lot of people down here driving sucks and stuff
This place looks great for families but boring for singles.
Don't do it we have way too many people here already
NOT. Run from Lakeland. Polk County was once considered the meth capital of Florida. We did not feel safe there so moved.
Umm? What do you mean by that though..
Ohhh I did some quick research.. scary..
I grew up in Lakeland. Once, it was a beautiful place. Not so much anymore as development has choked out most of what used to be ag and swamp land. I moved to rural North Texas and love it here... Cooler, drier, a more respectful culture. No alligators trying to eat my dogs...
Did she just say "culture"? Lmao. Culture in Polk County FL is fueled by alligators, methamphetamine, petty crime and Sheriff Grady Judd. You wanna see Lakeland? Take a walk with the homeless prostitutes on N. Combee Rd.
That said, it was the climate made me move on. Too hot, miserable and wet - it's a swamp filled with people and concrete. Use your imagination.
A lot of people love it, but not me. Probably cause I have memories of what it was like before overdevelopment... Lakeland now has around a hundred and ten thousand people; it had around thirty thousand when I was born. It was all orange grove and swamp then... It's not even recognizable as Lakeland anymore as it and the surrounding cities have grown into each other with none of the planning found in more populous areas.
I'd remind anyone reading this that it was people like you - looking for a better place to live - that brought ruin to this little piece of my history.
Just as I've dragged my baggage into numerous towns across the US, changing the demographic there, others brought their baggage to Lakeland. Lakeland has too much luggage in the closet already....
Where abouts in North Texas? We are currently in Austin suburb and interested in moving further north to a more rural area. Thnx in advance for any suggestions.
