Corner Gas is awesome! I once met Hank.
Notices your lack of Bluey 👀👀👀
B.S.Surgery, bought it when I was 12, am now 63 and still love it...great choice.
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother (perfect album to come down)
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of inner Turbulence Disc 2 (there was a time, when I listened to this every week three or four times)

Ascending Divers - Watery Domain
Jesu/Sun Kil Moon - Self-titled
Prurient - Rainbow Mirror
Kali Malone - Living Torch
Sunn O))) - Meta Benevolence BBC 6music: Live on invitation of Mary Anne Hobbs (it could be also Life Metal or Pyroclasts)
øjeRum - Reversed Cathedral (it uses samples from old pump organ that was housed in cold room for many years and the sound is affected by moisture from air)
Any sacred polyphonic choir music from renaissance period, composers like for example: Carlo Gesualdo, Palestrina
Interesting that you mentioned The Caretaker, it's an album I had heard about another youtuber, Feldup, a French guy who is a musician and also does long-form stories about weird stuff from the Internet. I thought it was very, very obscure and there you go mentioning it.
If I had comfort record - I rarely go back to stuff these days, too much new music to listen to - there would likely be a few Mike Oldfield on the list (Ommadawn, Crises, Songs from the Distant Earth), and also some early-80s Tangerine Dream (Poland for instance).
People hate on Limp Bizkit but they slap and always have. Plus, as a wrestling fan who was a teenager during the Attitude Era, it's almost a requirement to enjoy them.
It's crazy bc their guitar work and production were top notch. Idk if I like it ironically or if I just like it😂
❤❤❤
“My favorite thing” by John Coltrane is always there for me
1. The Marshall Tucker Band- The Marshall Tucker Band
2. Fleetwood Max- Fleetwood Mac
3. Huey Lewis & The News- Sports
4. 311- 311
5. Rancid - And Out Come the Wolves
6. Blind Faith- Blind Faith
7. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young- Deja Vu
8. Anathema- Weather Systems
9. Rebelution - Courage to Grow
10. Green Day- Dookie
Love this idea. In regards to shows, if I'm binging anything Simpsons from seasons 3-13, I know I need a pick-me-up.
Bad Hair Day may have been one of my first albums that I remember ADORING!!
Brain Salad Surgery is my favourite ELP, but also maybe because it was my first.
I really like a lot more of your soundtrack and atmospheric and classical picks - a lot of them are ones I've never really thought about and will have to give some re-listens with fresh ears
These are all very comforting/familiar/exactly what I want when I’m in the mood for that particular style of listen. Some of them are considered “pieces,” rather than full albums. But, when the piece calls to me, it is usually perfect in length.
10. Rhapsody In Blue, Piano Concerto
9. Jesus Christ, Superstar (original)
8. The Firebird Suite
7. Every Good Boy Deserves Favour - Moody Blues
6. The Yes Album
5. Albedo 0.39 - Vangelis
4. Going For The One (side 2) - Yes
3. Koyaanisqatsi (soundtrack with black cover and red letters) - Philip Glass, composer
2. Oxygéne - Jean Michel Jarre
1. Olias of Sunhillow - Jon Anderson
Pretty sure for those who know me, none of this is surprising.
Anthems To The Welkin at Dusk is my comfort album currently. A symphonic black metal masterpiece from start to finish! Dopesmoker by Sleep is a great vibe/atmospheric album too.
1. Caravan - If I Could Do It All Over Again…
2. Genesis - Trespass
3. The Residents - Eskimo
4. Camel - Snow Goose
5. Olivia Tremor Control - Dusk At Cubist Castle
6. Circulatory System - debut
7. Anthony Phillips - Geese And The Ghost
8. Coil - Moon’s Milk
9. Frank Zappa - Waka/Jawaka
10. Pink Floyd - Ummagumma
ESPECIALLY #1
Ummagumma is the only Floyd album I absolutely don't get. 🙂
amy lee's voice has always been my confort voice. So i would have to say fallen by evanescence. Also I feel that Nightwish could fit in this category
I'm sorry about lashing out about the Star One album! I was Drunk ...
Interesting picks ! We certainly don’t have the same way to relax haha a lot of those albums you choose would stress me out to no end !
Love this video.
You like Beethoven, have you listened to Tchaikovsky?
Absolutely! Everything from 1812 to Swan Lake, from Romeo and Juliet to Nutcracker every Christmas. He's one of my favourite composers. He as Stravinsky are always a delight.
Some of my comfort albums:
Z by My Morning Jacket
Let Go from Avril Lavigne
Almost anything from Weezer but particularly the Blue Album
Twisted Sister's "A Twisted Christmas" (no, really!)
Minecraft OST
Anthony Phillips' first solo album Geese and the Ghost (prog-adjacent example)
Pop punk in general is a comfort genre for me and it's hard to just pick one album
*The first two albums by Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer* (A local early-00s pop punk band from Philly that you MUST hear! Their first two albums are only 22 minutes each so I tend to put them together)
Cracked Rear View from Hootie and the Blowfish (Mainly for nostalgia reasons)
The Caretaker's project is comforting in a very strange way... Great video, thank you!
