I remember watching this performance years ago. Just revisited it and it still the best version. It has so much more energy than other versions and the way the drummer plays the song in this performance is one of the main reasons why.
+Kristi Oliphant I was at a show in Milwuakee WI and they played sleepyhead, it sounded pretty close to this but wasn't quite as good but still really close.
To whoever just said they suck live and that the singer is useless: I will find you on some Liam Neeson shit, you hear me? I will beat you into a coma with a Passion Pit CD, just to say I did. They are 10x more talented, creative, famous, and rich than you will ever be. Good day to you sir.
this song is so hard to sing its amazing that he can actually sound good singing it live..i love all the emotion in their music it pierces right into my heart :D
Definitely one of my favorite bands right now, I'm not surprised at all they sound this good live, the majority of them actually went to Berkley School of Music, so they know what they're doing, their music actually makes sense, love them... they're awesome, I love them.
Yes, i agree with you. I never thought that they could pull it off. I thought that the voices and such were all done on the computer but i guess not, amazing song anyways. :)
@TheLaughingMan9 you're right, it's pretty amazing, but musically, it's actually pretty simple, and they've played it so much that they might just be a bit bored of it, especially because they're playing to a crowd of about 8 people. by the way when I say the song is simple, I'm not disrespecting it in any way, but there isn't much of a challenge in playing those synth lines... it is great though. maybe this is why they look a bit bored though, then again, not being in the band, I have no idea.
The reason that no one in the audience is moving is because it was recorded in the afternoon and the band weren't really that famous then. Big up to Phil Bulleyment who did the sound on this, always sounded better than Jool Holland show!
well I saw them live at Hyde Park before i'd even heard of them and I thought they were fantastic. I've never heard anything like them. They're not my favourite band, but I don't know how you can say they're not interesting! I think they have a very unique sound!
They sound amazing live almost like the song but on the song it's higher my freind introduced me to this band with this song ... I feel pumped and alive when I listen to this
Wish they still made music like this... I mean they still make great music. But being a Californian, in the center of the entertainment industry of the United States, nothing really made me feel the way songs like this did. You feel like you're transplanted right in the middle of east coast city life.
I'm sick of the people that keeping posting comments related to Little Big Planet 2! THIS SONG HAVE BEEN HERE LONGER, AND YOU FANBOYS COME AND STEAL OUR SONG? Fuck off. Passion Pit forever.
i'm really not too fond of their live performances. nothing they ever do can possibly be greater than the beauty of the studio version of this song. it's really their only amazing song in my opinion. the rest are just ok.
they all look like the kids that got picked on in highschool hahahaha and look at them now, probably making millions more than the kids that picked on them
@jake92sc No just go read it you'll understand. Seriously though. Never miss a chance to go see them. I woulda followed them around Texas had I known at the time.
It sucks the crowd isn't getting into this at all, they get a good intimate performance and they stand their like a bunch of hipsters. Ever been to a show full of hipsters? They look angry to be there yet they all show up and pay to stand around with the arms crossed talking the whole show like they could be somewhere else doing something better.
i read blogs and listen to what they tell me to...ah shit you got me! ah very intelligent you are! i mean shit imagine if i'd found out about them by accident and actually...liked them? would that be ok. If i found out by accident can i be ticked off your list of 'i can generalise people very well by the band they like' ? let me know.
@ControlXTheXChaos true but i think he sings it like that on purpose. like if he really tried to do it like everybody else then i bet he could but yea there are probably people who can do falsetto better. such as the guy from The Temper Trap, now he has amazing falsetto.
@ControlXTheXChaos actually what he does take a lot of skill because he's really in his falsetto range and that part in most people is untrained so i would say he is probably more talented than most singers. and if you here the acoustic version his pitch is even better.
i really like this band and the live version is really good and the way he sings this song would be very difficult for a normal person, such as myself, but can he sing anything in a normal range? i was just wondering, so if he can could you please tell me the song where he does sing normally. Thanks :)
cool perfomance, but i had to say, they need all to play with click. Its very confusing, to listen to that song, because they don`t play constant. Its a young band, and they need to fix that problem, typical faults of young musician ;)
@boxofpaperclipz You know its actually possible to enjoy music without jumping around like crazy monkeys, throwing your arms around while doing stupid hand-signals.. What my point is; they might be enjoying it without showing it physical. Maybe, maybe not.
HOLLY CRAP! I herd this song for the Palm Pixie and down loaded it from i-tunes, I thought it was just some one messing with a vocal box in a studio...I had no idea it was from a real group and singer with real Talent!...Amazing is right!
Just cause a drummer isn't rocking a double kick at 160 beats per minute and is constantly flailing his arms to strike countless toms and cymbals doesn't make them bad. The band simply doesn't put so much emphasis on their percussion. Nothing wrong with that.
yacht rock for the NOW generation. nice tune in the same way as al stewart's year of the cat or doobie's what a fool believes... we'll look back one day and you can tell your kids.. i was a hipster.. i was a f'n hipster.
bees in the corn bees in the corn ,,,(clap clap) bees in the corn bees in the corn hes fucking with me! bees in the corn bees in the bee bees in the corn bees in the corn eat your taco with your meat!
Why can't you stand that? Who the hell cares if you have liked them for longer, the more fans they can get the better. That's a pretty standard "I heard this band before they were famous therefore I'm better than you" attitude.
kinda reminds me of a different version of Cedric from The Mars Volta if you know who they are. Basically the same register, Cedric's voice is also very very unique. I heat both bands, even tho they're wayyyyy different
@harrychristner i believe that the synth player to the left(Ayad) is playing a juno 60 and a Moog Little Phatty and the synth player on the right of micheal i dont know, i think its a roland.
are the synth players on left and right of micheal both playing junos? i know the one on micheals right is playing a juno 6 or 60 but the the guy on his left playing a 106 with wood pannels?
I love the record but wow......not digging his vocals live. they sound good as a band but he needs to throw some effects on his voice to distract from the fact that it's entirely too shrill live
i seriously watch this at least 5 times every single day. someone please inform the band that they're welcome to move into my home since their show is 18+ and i am sadly 6 months underage. :(
@xklonoax Its not like that I personally would love to have littlebig planet 2, but im a 360 kid. IM JUST SAYING. I dont like an argument about it going over such an amazing song
@gac3la I was referring to LBP2 in getting a perfect ten when I comes out, not super mario galaxy 2. Before you start spewing out crap, why not take the time to read what one types?
It's old considering this came out 3 years ago and Passion Pit has only been around since 2007. Not in the sence that 3 years on the whole damn timeline of humanity is a lot.
@05M4N I totally agree with your comment, except the part about the 40-50ish crowd....I'm 42 and couldn't even sit still in my chair, these guys have a very unique sound!
image driven music for hipsters...look how into this really generic music we are!! wear a blazer with a t-shirt underneath, grow a beard and sing like a girl...instant hit!
Who's still here in 2024
SHUT UUUUUP
Ur mother
This is nothing less than musical perfection.

OMG it's actually better than the original.
THE FALSETTO!
@DTinHD amazing. haha.
@CalciumMoonCheese So what ? You're jealous to see more and more people appreciate this song and to see you aren't alone about to know this song now ?
he hasn't seen radiohead.
This is the best and most powerful rendition of this song by far and one of Passion Pit's best live performances. Wow.
this is such a tight set, I was in high school when this came out
this song got me into synthesizers
This is a way better live version, why isn't this on their vevo
Connar McNeill channel M, how can they upload there 😒
Live versions of songs are almost ALWAYS better
Shari Anderson true, specially Sleepyhead
I remember watching this performance years ago. Just revisited it and it still the best version. It has so much more energy than other versions and the way the drummer plays the song in this performance is one of the main reasons why.

this is one of the best live versions of this song i've heard...i can't get over how great they sound here!
Only Ayad can nail that keyboard part perfectly.
geddy lee could do it in his sleep, while singing and playing bass notes with his feet
this is insane
+are u shpongled
this is like bananas
it is.
that was the best I've scene them live.
Definitely. I think it's because the singer isn't trying to go too high pitch like he is in the rest.
I would definitely agree.
+Kristi Oliphant I was at a show in Milwuakee WI and they played sleepyhead, it sounded pretty close to this but wasn't quite as good but still really close.
the best perfomance of this song of all time
This would be the hardest song to sing live lol
To whoever just said they suck live and that the singer is useless: I will find you on some Liam Neeson shit, you hear me? I will beat you into a coma with a Passion Pit CD, just to say I did. They are 10x more talented, creative, famous, and rich than you will ever be. Good day to you sir.
ParsoProductions u ar right
Well... Michael had to start touring again after retiring to pay for his medical bills... So maybe not RICH but endlessly talented
This song is like a pringle. You can't just listen to it once.
band of hipsters and bob the painter as main vocals, makes my life.
This is definetly the best live I've seen
Those are some hard notes to hit, yet he gives it a shot while singing his heart out- live. These guys are true musicians.
Most epic nerds I've ever seen. Respect.
Finally!..bravo..all the other live performances..well..ummm..yeah
this song is so hard to sing its amazing that he can actually sound good singing it live..i love all the emotion in their music it pierces right into my heart :D
I didn't think that the singer could actually do it live, i was wrong.
also the drummer is brutal
Definitely one of my favorite bands right now, I'm not surprised at all they sound this good live, the majority of them actually went to Berkley School of Music, so they know what they're doing, their music actually makes sense, love them... they're awesome, I love them.
the nostalgia..
1:04 proves his vocal talent... it's so hard to fluctuate your tone and sound good within your range, let alone in falsetto

Such a solid live performance! Still here in 2024 ✌️
I’m only came across the channel by chance to this song and absolutely loved it, I got listening to them more and they are great
This is all good except that damn wind chime sound thats louder than everything. Its very annoying
Why the fuck they just clap at the end... this song is for shout and jump and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOO!
They sound amazing live almost like the song but on the song it's higher my freind introduced me to this band with this song ... I feel pumped and alive when I listen to this
This live version is leaps and bounds better than the original IMO.
His vocals aren't as high as they are on the album but he still sounds great here.
That was very very impressive. When I first heard these guys i thought that they'd ne never pull it off live, but man, that was awesome.
Wish they still made music like this... I mean they still make great music.
But being a Californian, in the center of the entertainment industry of the United States, nothing really made me feel the way songs like this did. You feel like you're transplanted right in the middle of east coast city life.
29 people were to too much of a sleepyhead to listen to the song.
Love this version! They are so into it.
I'm sick of the people that keeping posting comments related to Little Big Planet 2! THIS SONG HAVE BEEN HERE LONGER, AND YOU FANBOYS COME AND STEAL OUR SONG? Fuck off. Passion Pit forever.
best version of this song... bar none
this is probably their best live performance that I've seen on UA-cam, of this song - it's awesome! GO PASSION PIT :D
I love how Michael looks just a bit insane

passion pit is great studio band..live not so much..i understand its hard to do this music live..its really bad to be honest
Wow, he can sing really awesome live. sounds mad for a live show.
uma das 5 melhores bandas não-brasileiras que existe. suave, moderno, romantico numa estrutura eletronica sem ser desgastante.
i heard this song in a skate video months before i saw it on a sprint commercial and when i saw it i was like wtf??
It sucks the crowd isn't getting into this at all, they get a good intimate performance and they stand their like a bunch of hipsters. Ever been to a show full of hipsters?
