This is the biggest event in the history of competitive surfing. For the first time ever, the World Title will be decided in a one-day, winner-take-all event. The top five men and top five women enter, and after 12 must-see heats, one male and female surfer will rise from the proving ground at Lower Trestles as this year’s undisputed World Champions.

Yeah, he got such a bad reputation after the drop in at I think Pipe masters but he was just doing what he needed to do to win, his fans want him to win, he wants to win so he does what he has to do to win!

I started surfing 4 yrs before the," surf leash " came into the sport.Nobody could do,a lot of these manuevers,as," We'd be swimming all damn day.So," Why not a single contest in "5-8 or larger waves,and " No jet skis", or board caddies,and see who can pull off," What they amazingly do,and keep their board next to them.Would add some substance to the," All Around Waterman" circuit that I've drawn up& you will see it soon.
So did I , now who wants to see them holding back just to keep their boards . We want to see them surf more waves , not swimming or paddling

@@ianbastos9040 so predictable though. He does nothing new. Same old stuff every heat at every event. Now I’m not having a go at gabs, just don’t think he is the all round ridiculously great surfer the judges do. Gabs can get an 8 for a couple of mediocre turns with rail digs, then finish the wave with an air reverse. A well executed ride with multiple power carves and vertical lip game from almost any other surfer on tour and you will be looking at high 7s. I just think he has the judges right where he wants them. Also didn’t like the format. He was $1.01 to win it with that format. Totally played into his hands. Anyway his world champ and I’m at home complaining, so in that respect I have to say good on him.
You forgot about the power, speed, style, riding both ways, multiple different airs including the second full cork ever landed in comp, lol
