- Prambanan is a Hindu temple compound from the 10th century, dedicated to Shiva and located on the Java island of Indonesia. The central building of Prambanan is 47 m/154 ft. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also in the video: the nearby Candi Sewu (Buddhist temple from the 8th century), Ratu Boko (large archeological site from around the 8th century), and Candi Plaosan (Buddhist temple from the 9th century).

As an Indonesian myself I could say that if you ask Indonesian kids what their favorite ancient Indonesian kingdoms are, more than 60% of them would answer either Majapahit or Sriwijaya Kingdoms both of which are Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms. After those two, the third, fourth, and fifth most favorites would most likely be Mataram Sultanate (Islam), Sunda Kingdom (Hindu), and Kingdom of Pagaruyung (Islam). See, 3 of the top 5s are hindu or buddhist kingdoms. Heck, even most of the ancient islamic sultanates in Indonesia, especially those that was located in the island of Java, integrated their Islamic teachings with animism, hinduism, and buddhism (known as Abangan Islam). Some right-wing Islamic fundamentalists (we call them "kadal gurun" or "desert lizard" here in Indonesia) even refuse to accept them as part of Islam due to it incorporating other elements into Islam

Beautiful. I am so happy that Indonesia acknowledges it's Hindu and Buddhist past quite proudly despite being in a different faith. They have embraced the fact that they have chosen a different path but preserves the essence of the subcontinental civilisation. It's beautifully maintained. Because Indonesians loved the Majapahit kingdom and the kingdoms before that.
However, if you compare it to Borobudur, Prambanan is a little less well-maintained. Before the earthquake in the last decade, there were many small temples around the main temple, but now they are in ruins. And the restoration effort is still not giving the promising progress.

I don't think we Indonesian would respond kindly to "Jai shree ram" especially when it's typically used against Muslims in conflicts. It's pretty much as offensive saying "Allahu akbar" in front of an Indian Hindu.
@@diocletia1388 there are many gods in India and there are many ways in India to greet other some says hare krishna ,namo namo etc.If u think jai shree ram is wrong, also jai shree ram become conflicted because of shree ram birth place issue as u know most of the northern India was ruled by Muslims,on there rule they destroyed many temple and made mosque on top of them to mock hindus.

"Allahu akbar" is on itself not an offensive word, but if MAY offend Christians and other religions which became victim of Muslim expansion, since "Allahu Akbar" is often used as war cry.
"Jai shree ram" is just praising Rama as far as I'm concerned, so normally it IS not offensive. But since it's pretty much use as some sort of war cry in anti-islam sentiment of modern india, well, it sounds irritating.

I visited Prambanan not long ago, and it's one of the greatest temples in Indonesia🇮🇩. It's also one of Indonesia's UNESCO heritage sites. The temple is stunning and it's a must visit for those who visit Yogyakarta

Prambanan temple is the most prominent in Central Java. There is an astonishing story about that in long time ago. We called "Rorro Jonggrang". The summary about Indonesian folklore, the demon or spirit was missed 1 temple only, when they built 1000 temples to present their gift to the queen.

Could these two monuments have some connection to the other two monuments in Cambodia? The Prambanan looks very similar to the Angkor Wat and both are Hindu temples. On the other hand, the Borobudur is very similar to the Bayon temple and both are Buddhist temples . L❤VE from Cambodia

Indonesia used to be a great civilization in the Sriwijaya masses, even Majapahit, so it's only natural that Indonesia has magnificent temples like in the Cambodian region... Cambodia also has magnificent temples, former remains of the Khamer Kingdom. This is proof that Sriwijaya, the Khmers, in Southeast Asia were once a kingdom. who is highly respected

Religions and languages are two things which are always in the making, and never really made. Only those who understand it will preserve the records and history, even if things have changed. Fanatics will destroy history because for them, time began only when they found out the "true path" which everyone else have missed out. Such is the frailty of petty minds. I am happy for the person who uploaded this video.
