You say you haven't seen many good explanations of how coaster brakes work. I haven't either. Now that I have seen your video, I still haven't. You do not have a technical mind. Your analysis is cursory at best. And you held a necessary element in your left hand throughout, but never mentioned it or what it is used for. Is it a chicken wing ? Or a deformed kick stand ? Is it a handle for people to use when disassembling the brake system ? You should have watched more videos. I am sure that people with some mechanical ability and a logical mind have done a good job. You just aren't one of them.
@@zakatacular I'm just going to do mine, so I'll let you know! I think less will be more. 😉 Edit : Curses, Shimano Nexus seems to need a special tool to undo the drive side!
Finally an explanation I've got a 100cc Zeus on my Cobra. And it's giving me problems I finally got the cone nut out so that helped along the way but this video helped me the rest
my kid bike is like this i guess all kid bike is pedal back braking.. but his rear wheel moving very slow , and that makes him have to pedal very strongly to get the bike going is there a way to make the bike faster !!?? i look at the chain it feels just right but when i flip yhe bike upward to spin the wheel thats when i realzed that the rear wheel is the problem but dont know how to fix this, this is probably how it is designed for beginners ..
I have the same coaster brake assembly if anyone can help me with my issue that be great. My issue is the brakes. Don’t fully engage when I pedal back but yet when I pedal forward if I really try to pedal hard there’s slipping the chain is on and engaged but it doesn’t drive the back wheel. It’s like something slipping in that hub.. the bikes pretty brand new, I’ve taken apart the entire assembly and I can’t see what’s wrong with it please help
Mine doesn’t have the split brake shoes. It’s an orange cruiser from the 60s. Idk how it quite works. But there are 3 voids looking down the hub and a bunch of these independent washers with a square notch for those trace voids. They all stack along there. Assuming this what gives torque do the wheel spins.

Haters gonna hate! Peace out!
Hello! So can you make it freewheel by removing all removable parts from inside? 😊

Pin of shame.
Glad to see a thorough explanation from someone else who's funny enough to put an engine on a beach cruiser
