Could a Strongman be the one to dominate Armwrestling in the future? #armwrestling #strongman #mateuszkieliszkowski #kott #kingofthetable #devonlarratt
This is great for Mateusz (fantastic strongman competitor) and great for Armwrestling - a sport totally on an upward trajectory. Cool to see Alex again, hope he makes a return to competition soon.
Mateusz should dominate armwrestling I would not be surprised. He is not a normal athlete, he is the only athlete to make Novikov look second best in dumbell and he does the same to other great strongmen in pretty much every event except the deadlift. Its normal for Mateusz to win 5 out of 6 events and still get second place because of deadlift. Aside from that his discipline is exceptional, look at his stone to shoulder and more recently his throw in the Arnold Classic, beats everyone by miles new record etc but the technique is what enables his strength to go further, he is humble in attitude another great strength that allows him the space to grow without any bs, expect him to get very good very quickly. In another life he would be Olympic champion in discus or weightlifting
Dear Matt, I am so happy that you got involved in the sport. Your knowledge and good relations with some of the greatest strongmen could be used as leverage for the athletes to transition or get to know armwrestling. You are achieving something great because of the respect you show to the athletes and their potential. Nobody knows what the future of AW holds for us. Keep up the good work!
Damn, this is so cool, seeing Kurdecha and Mateusz! I'd thought I'd never see the day. And Brian Shaw got training from Derek. I hope Martins Licis has made some secret deal now with Levan. They met a couple weeks ago when Martins was visiting his friend Konstantin Janashia, who is good friends with Levan. Also recently, during Rogue Invitational, Michael Todd gave Thor some pointers. Imagine KOTT featuring Mateusz, Brian Shaw, Martins Licis and Thor. EDIT: Oh, and Vytautas Lalas, who already has done some arm wrestling tournaments .
@@germanrud9904 I don’t think you know much about Derek. He’s one of the best teachers in the sport. He’s better at explaining things than most other top guys. And he’s ranked like number 15-20 in the world so he’s not weak by any means. Shaw could absolutely learn from others but right now he just needs the basics and Derek may be the best at explaining the basics in a way a new arm wrestler can understand. There is a reason they have him do a lot of commentary because he’s great at explaining the sport. If I had a new arm wrestler I would rather have Derek teach them rather than Devon. Once you get more advanced then Devon is great though.
Anyone remember Magnus Samuelsson? European arm wrestler turned strongman, and eventually won the WSM. Broke the arm of that huge strongman "megaman" during an arm wrestling match at one WSM. He could close a COC #4, one of the strongest grips in the world. This is good for Mateusz, because he may never be as great at strongman as he once was because of all his injuries.
Thats awesome Mr Matt 🤘i like seeing these super strong super competitive strongmen coming to arm wrestling. Great for the sport. Hes a big ol feller and anyone that above brian on the podium has my respect lol
That sheer explosiveness he has should do him well. Those log lifts where he basically uses one motion ground to overhead, where others are struggling just to lift it are downright amazing. He'll be an excellent competitor no matter what he chooses to do.
Mateusz is my favorite strongman now that Thor is likely retired for good. If not for his hampering injuries he would have won at least 1 WSM since 2019. His only drawback is the deadlift event. I don’t know why but he really struggles at it?
His injuries have stopped him from winning WSM and Arnold Classic in MULTIPLES... I hope he commits to Arm Wrestling... Class is class wherever it resides!
@@MattRhodesSport :) Strongmen are not known for their cup and pronation, and grip is much less important in armwrestling.. but yeah, he's at least starting with something.
@@MattRhodesSport Yes I think strongman involves a lot of forearm strength with things like shield carry/atlas stones/cleaning logs many of which I also think contribute to riser and strongman also have strong lats with pulling events
Mateusz have unlimited endurance , his shoulder just on money...so sidepress can be ideal for him....his wrist iron......also i think probably right now he can break backpressure record
Side press for a relatively new puller is very dangerous, regardless of strength level, the threat of injury is not something you can brute force your way through.....
He could be great at it. But I think armwresting takes a long time to get used to. Different forms of strength. I'd love to see him train with Michael Todd and Devon. Interesting times.
None of these strongman are actually interested in armwrestling like that. They are just dipping their toes in different areas including armwrestling to get more fans for social media. Its all it is
That is just an absurd statement, I like the guy, but you're WAY overestimating him, and underestimating how long it takes to condition the arm, not to mention Levan is in a league that's almost untouchable even for seasoned monsters
Will mateusz stop strength sports for armwrestling? As everyone knows he is a great strong fighter I just have a sheep for injury. Does this movie mean it's changing discipline?
KOTT need Travis Bagent as referee. He is most strict before the ready go. This way, some pullers get to much lee way. Just look at Devon all matches, vertical forearm, elbow at top end of elbow pad. And hes gaining that height advantage due of his long levers. Theres reason why hes dodging all longer lever opponents like Alex Kurdecha/Laletin/Revaz/Morozov. He can't be fouled out,and always gains advantage. Travis Bagent need to be a referee. On top of it... we are interested in Khaled for that 115 kg category.. we need more of him.. any updates on him,is he into armwrestling still?
@@MattRhodesSport Yeah... but strap application, and devon rising in strap before ready go is straight bullshit. There should be no fighting before ready go,and athletes should start fair. But thats just my opinion. Thanks for KOTT events. cheers
I agree it's always horrible to see how much cheating Devon gets away with. Even in the recent match against Genadi, he cheated do much and got away with so much shit. Shoulders were completely rotated inwards while starting, etc
Honestly I am very disappointed in Mateusz. I really don't like these crossovers into armwrestling. Armwrestling is pretty boring and to see one of the most exciting strongmen to deviate from the sport is just disappointing
It's heading in a much better direction, it's not corrupt like Strongman, it's live streamed. All athletes get equal chance and fans get to see fair competition + This won't effect Mateusz's training for the Strongman titles he wants to win.
@@MattRhodesSport About corruption in stongman and having more equal chanse in armwrestling I agree, but this will effect his training 100 percent - it is a different sport.
