While I agree with the premise that remastering/remaking games that sold the most *first* is the correct business decision, we have a recent example where this rule doesn't apply. Demon's Souls Remake. If not for the prior rumors, nobody would've believed it. Surely nobody at Sony looked at this and said "yeah, that's the best business decision". There are other things at play here. The 3 years and resources spent on that project could've been spent elsewhere and generated A LOT more money. Also, remastering bloodborne alone and releasing it exclusively on the ps5 is a dumb move in my opinion. Like you said, it would sell a third of the PS4 version at best. However, a day and date release on PC could very well make it a 10m sales product considering the sheer amount of souls fans on PC and the momentum the souls games have been gaining since Elden Ring. Looking at past PS4 sales alone is NOT a good way of predicting future sales of a remaster in my opinion. There's a lot at play here in Bloodborne's particular case. Great video! Your hunch about the legal battle doesn't seem that out there. It could very well be true.
Of i remember correctly, recently someone managed to crack fps cap on PC for Bloodborne (yes, physics, lighting and textures broke down, but there will be matter of time before someone fixes that since few months ago Bloodborne barely run on 2 fps on pc)
Because Sony still has that old school mentality from 20 years ago to make every game under the sun exclusive they’d make air exclusive to PlayStation if they could
I dont want a remaster necessarily, just for them to do something with the ip. Its been nearly a DECADE since the game released and sony hasnt done squat
Miyazaki actually talked about Bloodborne a few months ago and hinted Sony was the problem. Ultimately, i think whatever Sony is (or was) planning won't matter because emulation will give us what we wanted for free. Kinda ironic Sony was always a tryhard with its other AAA franchises but never knew what to do with Bloodborne.
The only reason I'm still hoping for Sony to remaster and port Bloodborne to PC is the fact that they did it with The Last of Us p1. The original was from 2013.
Very much disagree. People literally bought PS5's to play Demon's Souls Remake, and Bloodborne is much more renowned game than that was. Fromsoft as developer is much bigger and mainstream after Elden Ring than even when Demon's Souls was released. Bloodborne has sold over 7 million copies and that's not including the fact it's free on PSplus. We all know Fromsoft's next game won't release for years, so I honestly think if Sony put out a Bloodborne remake in that time in between it would be a massive deal. Just look at how many people have gone back to play Dark Souls after Elden Ring being their first From game, soulsborne games are no longer a niche genre like it used to be.
It doesn't run at 30, it runs at a weird 26 fps XD. the artstyle carries the game hard. But the technical parts are a mess. Kt definitely needs a remaster/remake
Sony is so fucking stupid, they release a game 60 usd locked on to a 700 usd console and then wonder why they dont sell as much as any other pc native game
You can never doubt the big wigs behind, first making and then, re-realising Morbius, and banking on the mega hit Concord, to do the right financial decisions. They have it in the bag!
My assumption is that From's time and manpower, especially since Elden Ring, is so valuable that commisioning them to do a remaster/port is simply not cost effective for Sony. This assumes From owns the Code, and Sony the IP.
I think that the "preservation of games" argument is not a great one. I'd ask, what's the benefit of that purist approach? You'll still have the PS4 original Bloodborne release if they remaster it for the current gen, you can CHOOSE to play either of them. The PS3 version of Demon Souls didn't stop existing because they remade it. Dude, the only thing people really want is the 60 fps, most people don't care about graphic enhancements and frankly, people already know that 90% of the time the remasters do a very marginal job at improving visual quality (except in the cases where there's a visible resolution upscaling). Though I think Bloodborne is beautiful in its own way, these games were never really about the best visuals, we know the most important aspect is the gameplay, and keeping it at 30 fps is a factual huge disservice to it. What FromSoftware put out in 2015, performance-wise, was limited to the hardware of the time, and I highly doubt they wanted the game to run like that. Also, the version you'd play today (unless you own a disc copy and you keep your console off the internet) is already an updated/patched version, done by FromSoftware themselves.
Bro you lost me at 2:30. I guarantee you Sony sees everybody crying out for the game. I got a feeling when they’re going to make a remaster, but I’m keeping it to myself.
As other people have said here, the big reason that justifies a remake/remaster is because Elden Ring came out and sold loads. If you asked me two years ago about a bloodborne remake, I wouldnt have cared because I never played it. Since playing Elden Ring Ive gone back and played it and all the DS games and would now love a remake/remaster.
Daniel rpk, who has a great track record when it comes to movie details and trailer dates was told sony could be gearing up for another bloodborne game project, but he doesn’t know if it’s a sequel or remaster
Gaming culture wants to constantly relive the same things. This is why we rarely get new ideas. At least Miyazaki wants to be original and make something new
My money's on them having Bluepoint doing a remake of it as a launch title for PS6, like they did with Demons Souls. They know people want it, and what better way to push future console sales?
It's not just the PC players that want this. I played it on PS4 and I can't stop thinking about how amazing it would be to play this masterpiece at 4K/60
The main reason I want a bloodborne remake on pc is because I’ve recently gotten interested in souls borne games and i want to play bloodborne but i don’t want to buy a ps4 just for one game
Some context that's missing from this is when Bloodborne orginally released ''Souls'' games were still scary to a casual auidence. That reason coupled wit being locked on PS4 is why it sold so little. However, we now live in a post Elden Ring world and now casual gamers are into these type of games. Bloodborne will be a big seller in the modern gaming landscape.
I don't care about a remaster, I would be happy with a straight port of BB and Demon's Souls to PC. Seems like a no-brainer to me considering the size of the PC market and the minimal amount of investment required of Sony.
"Bethesda developing Elden ring 2" ☠️💀 story would be about that you're looking for your son, but then it turns out that your son is your dad who later reveals that you're tarnishedborn and now you have to go and kill easy bosses in uninteresting dungeons to power up your dragonborn powers
My theory is that they are planning a bloodborne remake to be a ps6 launch title and making a remaster for ps5 and pc as good as it would be would lessen the impact of that
They were more than happy to port Sackboy and Returnal to PC, both of which sold infinitely less copies than bloodborne, so the amount of sales ain't the problem
Honestly the only reason we haven't gotten more bloodborne is purely because of scheduling. After bloodborne fromsoft made ds3 and its dlc. Right after that from software started work on elden ring, and in mean time made sekiro. Sony was also busy with ps5 God of War and the glorious Concord. But now with seemingly no big projects underway for fromsoft, I honestly think were getting a new bloodborne for the 10th anniversary.
I dont think that it would cost that much to unlock fps and raise the resolution, they could charge us 10-15 bucks. Probably there is some legal shenanigans going on.
tbh sony goes back in forth between being solely numbers driven and allowing passion projects to cook Cuz I think the immediate refutation to this is that the Demons Souls remake happened. Shit, all the Bluepoint projects were remakes of Sony funded projects that *didn't* sell too well in the start. That, and Sony COMPLETELY owns Bloodborne. Fromsoft wouldn't really need to be involved or even alerted to the existence of a remake.
i think that since horizon was bundled with almost every ps4 and considering the ps4 sales we can say that horizon sales piggybacked on the ps4 sales. Never in my life have i met a person who has played horizon.
most of the arguments in this video are pretty much useless when you consider they REMADE the entirety of demon's souls and the original barely sold a million, the remake went on to sell more and was seen internally as a success, Bloodborne sold 8 million which almost equals Dark souls 3 sales (a multiplatform), and all of this in the Pre Elden Ring era, in 2024 everything that even has the thinnest of fromsoftware's aura becomes a blockbuster Armored Core 6 proved that already, not taking use of the momentum is quite frankly retarded.
Sony was outspokingly happy about Bloodborne's sales and also thought it did better than expected. This was also a decade ago - Fromsoftware has done nothing but trend upwards and become a household name for gamers. Bloodborne would sell better now for a number of reasons 1. PS5 is seriously lacking games, but also has a larger player base that know Fromsofftware 2. It would, most likely, get a PC release some time down the road (I expect Demon's Souls will too) The main reason, I suspect, Bloodborne hasn't gotten a remaster or remake yet is due to Sony wanting Fromsoftware themselves working on it. Not outsourcing it to another company or another company in house. There is no way Sony doesn't take not of it constantly trending every time an award show comes up. We will get a remaster/remake one day, whether it's during the PS5 life cycle who knows. I'd be surprised if it's not.
Just need to pull the Halo Eldarito move. Have more active players on a fan-finished online port then the current game’s player base, and boom, MCC comes to PC.
At this point Id be more mad if they released a remaster or remake of BB. Like why make people wait this long for no freaking reason? Damn bro it sure looks really good for sony to literally have no god damn actual worthwhile exclusives. 400 million on concord btw

Looking at past PS4 sales alone is NOT a good way of predicting future sales of a remaster in my opinion. There's a lot at play here in Bloodborne's particular case.
Great video! Your hunch about the legal battle doesn't seem that out there. It could very well be true.
These people bet $200 million on Concord. If they think the economics of this don’t work they’re stupid
200million dollars down the hole now its an absolute certainty there will never be a bloodborne remake😂
Don't even want a remake or remaster, I'd take a barebones PC port
Oh but we're going to have a "PC remaster", better yet you don't have to pay a dime and it's not going to be butchered by bluepoint
Same with Silent Hill 2. Though that has a remake that probably will suck ass.
Of i remember correctly, recently someone managed to crack fps cap on PC for Bloodborne (yes, physics, lighting and textures broke down, but there will be matter of time before someone fixes that since few months ago Bloodborne barely run on 2 fps on pc)
Because Sony still has that old school mentality from 20 years ago to make every game under the sun exclusive they’d make air exclusive to PlayStation if they could
Sony pretty much turned bloodborne into a joke
I dont want a remaster necessarily, just for them to do something with the ip. Its been nearly a DECADE since the game released and sony hasnt done squat
and its gonna stay that way lol.
"Miyazaki doesn't do sequels"
Even though hes been making the same game since demon's soul's
@@based-ys9umand has said that, multiple times, that he’d love to do more bloodborne stuff but that it’s really Sony’s call
Sony isn’t remastering Bloodborne because they’re still stuck fighting the wolf.
Horizon 24.3 million
Sony is looking at figures
Sorry my dude
"I don't think Bloodborne needs a remaster." Hard coping words, my guy. 60 fps will always be more desirable than 30 fps in an action combat game.
It doesn't run at 30, it runs at a weird 26 fps XD. the artstyle carries the game hard. But the technical parts are a mess. Kt definitely needs a remaster/remake
As I read, Counterpoint: Concord... But that aside If we count ER success well there is a chance that it might explode in popularity thanks to that
Sony is so fucking stupid, they release a game 60 usd locked on to a 700 usd console and then wonder why they dont sell as much as any other pc native game
You can never doubt the big wigs behind, first making and then, re-realising Morbius, and banking on the mega hit Concord, to do the right financial decisions. They have it in the bag!
“After 40 years we decided to actually listen to you and remaster bloodborne for the first time.”
“OVER MY DE-“
would sell more but its sony only
My assumption is that From's time and manpower, especially since Elden Ring, is so valuable that commisioning them to do a remaster/port is simply not cost effective for Sony.
Well, soon we won't have to rely on Sony anymore.
I would agree with everything if:
1- Sony wasn't puting their games on PC
2- Elden Ring didn't exist.
And if Demon's Souls wasn't Remade from the ground up. When the original didn't reach 1m sales.
To me at least, it just seems like there's no reason to not have a remaster at all.
incredible even kai cenat gave a help to sony that they didn't understand
As other people have said here, the big reason that justifies a remake/remaster is because Elden Ring came out and sold loads. If you asked me two years ago about a bloodborne remake, I wouldnt have cared because I never played it. Since playing Elden Ring Ive gone back and played it and all the DS games and would now love a remake/remaster.
Daniel rpk, who has a great track record when it comes to movie details and trailer dates was told sony could be gearing up for another bloodborne game project, but he doesn’t know if it’s a sequel or remaster
Because bloodborne is not as popular as fromsoft fanboy circles make you believe
It would not be a whole lotta resources tho for a port to pc and a ps5 port as well with 60 fps for a remaster bar minimum
We may not get an official remaster or a pc port, but there is a chance for an unofficial one
Those "business people" just lost $400 mil on a game no one wanted to play. Those "business people" have zero clue about both business and games.
It's not just the PC players that want this. I played it on PS4 and I can't stop thinking about how amazing it would be to play this masterpiece at 4K/60
porting 10 year old game is the easiest money Sony could ever ask for.
Demons souls remake and Until Dawn remaster both invalidate your first take.
Can I get a whopper and..uhh.. two french fries and uh... three sodas and uhh.. another whopper.
The emulation community will take care of that - for free.
The stuff they’re doing for Bloodborne PC is an incredible achievement. Really neat
The main reason I want a bloodborne remake on pc is because I’ve recently gotten interested in souls borne games and i want to play bloodborne but i don’t want to buy a ps4 just for one game
Sony may give it the Demon's Souls remake treatment: locked behind PS6
Some context that's missing from this is when Bloodborne orginally released ''Souls'' games were still scary to a casual auidence. That reason coupled wit being locked on PS4 is why it sold so little. However, we now live in a post Elden Ring world and now casual gamers are into these type of games. Bloodborne will be a big seller in the modern gaming landscape.
I don't care about a remaster, I would be happy with a straight port of BB and Demon's Souls to PC. Seems like a no-brainer to me considering the size of the PC market and the minimal amount of investment required of Sony.
It’s an Alien Isolation/Sega situation. But we’ll hopefully get Alien Isolation 2. It just took 11-15 (?) years since its release in 2014.
We are getting bloodborne remastered through emulation.
"Bethesda developing Elden ring 2" ☠️💀 story would be about that you're looking for your son, but then it turns out that your son is your dad who later reveals that you're tarnishedborn and now you have to go and kill easy bosses in uninteresting dungeons to power up your dragonborn powers
My theory is that they are planning a bloodborne remake to be a ps6 launch title and making a remaster for ps5 and pc as good as it would be would lessen the impact of that
counterpoint: you can get some of my money or NONE of my money-- your move sony.
Elden Ring 2 made by Bethesda is scarier than anything in Bloodborne
I dont think that it would cost that much to unlock fps and raise the resolution, they could charge us 10-15 bucks.
Probably there is some legal shenanigans going on.
Bethesda touching Elden ring would ruin it
6:38 just consider hzd was bundled with the ps4 pro back in the day, a big reason of why it sold so much
tbh sony goes back in forth between being solely numbers driven and allowing passion projects to cook
Cuz I think the immediate refutation to this is that the Demons Souls remake happened. Shit, all the Bluepoint projects were remakes of Sony funded projects that *didn't* sell too well in the start.
That, and Sony COMPLETELY owns Bloodborne. Fromsoft wouldn't really need to be involved or even alerted to the existence of a remake.
The number of sales is lower than you’d think because it is a PlayStation exclusive . I wonder how many sales it would’ve got if it wasn’t.
Not to mention if Fromsoft owned it . We could’ve had a sequel by now , or at least Miyazaki would give us some kind of answer.
@@GwynnieThePoopeople say daddy Miyazaki doesn't do sequels . Even though he's been making the same game since demon souls
I'm pretty sure Fromsoftware now owns the IP for elden ring
I agree! IMO Bloodborne is absolutely fine how it is now & doesn’t need a remaster, remake or be ported anywhere!😊
We don't need a remake or remaster,we need a pc port thats all.
i think that since horizon was bundled with almost every ps4 and considering the ps4 sales we can say that horizon sales piggybacked on the ps4 sales.
It would, most likely, get a PC release some time down the road (I expect Demon's Souls will too)
The main reason, I suspect, Bloodborne hasn't gotten a remaster or remake yet is due to Sony wanting Fromsoftware themselves working on it. Not outsourcing it to another company or another company in house. There is no way Sony doesn't take not of it constantly trending every time an award show comes up.
We will get a remaster/remake one day, whether it's during the PS5 life cycle who knows. I'd be surprised if it's not.
I think it's because it doesn't need a remaster the game still looks great.
Just need to pull the Halo Eldarito move. Have more active players on a fan-finished online port then the current game’s player base, and boom, MCC comes to PC.
I wonder how much the Bluepoint Demon's Souls remake skewed fans' perceptions.
Then why not a sequal?!
It’s either PS6 release remaster like Demon’s Souls or nothing
One issue with your explanation - explain the Demons Souls remake considering what you think. Can’t be explained with that.
That game looks great already, why remaster it?
a lot of people want a higher framerate. I can understand that (I can live with 30 fps and sub fps on it).
They remade Demon's Souls as a PS5 launch title designed to push console sales. DeS sold 1.4 million copies.
At this point Id be more mad if they released a remaster or remake of BB. Like why make people wait this long for no freaking reason?
Damn bro it sure looks really good for sony to literally have no god damn actual worthwhile exclusives.
400 million on concord btw
I feel like majority of this made sense until they decided to spend 400million on a DOA game instead of spending like 50 million on a remastered version even if it was full price again you will have at least 1.5 million
The $400 million has been debunked alreadu
4:36 clearly the TLOU softcap is 1
They'll announce a remaster when they announce bloodborne 2
From software probably wont do another exclusive. After elden rings success they have enough money not to do that
Bloodborne is completely owned by Sony.
This guy: Sony are business geniuses who only make the most profitable decisions, which they are able to magically foresee.
Sony: releases Concord
im a ps5 player, but if it is released on PC, is a no brainer slam dunk, I'd say at least half of the people that got Elden ring would get this
Until dawn is getting a remaster and it sold 4 million but bloodborne sold 3 million more and they’re still not doing shit for bloodborne
In what world would a demon souls remaster bring a better return on investment than bloodborne?
How does this apply to remakes/remaster such as Shadow of the Colossus?
Its actually because the game doesn't need a remaster or remake. Stop this remake culture.
It needs a 60 fps update. That’s it
@@Eggcornbean no, it doesn't need. It would be cool, yes, but not needed. Enough of remakes and remasters.
@@yeerC it needs it bruh. Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time. I would play it way more if it didn’t hurt my eyes from the bad frames. Bloodborne is the ONLY game I will play with fps lower than 60. Half the games I play are at 120 fps. Going from 120 to 30 fps is not enjoyable
@@yeerC I don’t want a remake personally though. I don’t want them to take a chance with changing anything and making it feel different. Game is so GODDAMN GOOD
