You have gotten so much more comfortable being in front of the camera than when you first started. Your personality just shines nowadays. So much fun to watch. even when your hubbie joins in. What a fun couple. Just can't imagine sewing as much as you do, but what an inspiration! I have been on this earth for 76 years (still can't wrap my head around that). and I discovered sewing at the age of 5. It has been such a blessing for me. Please continue to share your creative gifts with the world, and tell it only the way Vivmom can.
I always use quilting cottons, and I’ve used home dec fabric too. I prefer all natural products. I only use synthetics for keeping me warm in winter. I use quilting cottons for dresses and skirts, tops, and pants because cotton lawn fabrics are way too expensive for my budget. I can get quilting cottons for $3 a yard even today. One thing not many people seem to know, is that cotton and linen are the best fabrics for summer, they keep you cool. Desert countries around the world use flax, linen or plain cotton because it’s breathable and light. Synthetics are to keep you warm.
Let’s hear it for quilting cottons! I love them. Some of the thinner cottons like lawn and voile are almost too thin for me. I like to buy my cotton on sale - $3/yard is an excellent price!
You make me laugh too. I love watching you, I like what you make too. You inspired me to sew again. I have been sewing for my great grand children. They are happy about me sewing for them. Next time, Love U much!!!
Viv, we moved to Southern Illinois years ago, and I still have never found another seamstress who makes clothing. So you have quickly become my inspiration several years ago. I love your channel. You are a fabulous, down-to-earth seamstress. You have great style in patterns; and your fabric choices are lovely. Please continue to show us your sewing projects along with your wonderful family modeling your sewing projects. You inspire me more than anyone. Thank you for always being here for all of us who follow you. You’re the best, Vivmom. ❤️
You are inspiring to me. My husband and I moved into a house where I can now have a room dedicated to my sewing and other needle arts. Of course, before I had the room, I accumulated "some" fabric and other things. I just wanted to you to know that your enthusiasm and bright spirit are inspiring to me, and I can foresee getting back into sewing as I did when I was younger. Your manner is encouraging to me, and I wanted you to know that I'm glad I found your channel. Thank you for being you and for your energy.
Aww, Amy, what a sweet note. Thank you!! I’m so happy to read that you want to sew again. I had stopped sewing for a long time while busy life took over, and then (suddenly, it seemed) the older kids moved out and the youngest was in high school. That knocked me for a loop but gave me the gift of time. I rediscovered sewing and haven’t looked back. Blessings to you in your new house. So happy you’re here @ Vivmom and I hope to see more of you soon!😄💕
I just really found you about 1mth ago. I live you and I'm one that loves quilting cotton prints PERIOD!! This is the best example of garments making with QC. I looked you up from Brittany J Jones!!❤😊
You are an answer to my prayers! I first noticed quilting cotton and thought I’d like a dress or top in every one of these! Then I decided it was time to buy a machine and learn to sew but became easily discouraged! You have reinforced my initial desire of sewing with quilting cottonand
Thank you for reintroducing the plain cottons. Almost everything we sewed in the 60-70’s were made of 100% cotton. My mom made outfits out of bedspreads and curtains too. Also old dresses were made into dress fr my nieces as flower girl s
Thank you sew much for addressing this topic. Showing the garments and patterns helped a lot. I can see now that quilting cotton is very versatile for apparel. I'm going to give it a go. I watch many youtubers and you're the only one to address this. Thank you.
I think fabric choices have changed a lot in the last 30 years. I used to use cotton all the time for projects. I mainly sewed for my kids, and doll clothes. I am just getting back into sewing for myself, and their are so many fabric types now!
Thank you! I'm about to launch into making some maxi dresses i will make from cotton quilting fabric. I love the material and have bought a "few" metres. It's humid, sunny weather here so I need to be cool and yet modest. Thanks to your recommendations there are a few patterns that I now know won't be worth the effort in that material but I'm expecting great things from the rest (and me). I hope "barf" cat has recovered. Of course, I hope you didn't lose too many patterns. The joys of a modern woman. 💜🦉🇦🇺
Hi Viv! Thank you for this! One of you most informative videos ever. So much good information on matching patterns to fabric and how to use a fairly inexpensive fabric. Please do more of these type of video. Another video I’d like to see is you explaining or using from your current stash. You must have tons of fabric on hand in various categories. I would find these very helpful and educational for sewists of all levels.
I needed this video. I inherited a ton of quilting cotton material. I will never be able to make quilts from all of it. You inspired me to start sewing clothes again.
Hi MCG! I don’t know if we’ve met before but I wanted to welcome you. AND let you know how thrilled I was to read your message. I just love hearing that you’re inspired to start sewing apparel again.👏👏Quilts are beautiful (I have a quilting sister) but my passion lies with clothing and we need more of us representing!👍Thanks so much for being here, hope to see you again soon.💕
Hi Viv, thank you for sharing. My grandmother made dresses and quilts out of the flour sacks she bought. As a farmers wife with five kids grandmother was a busy frugal lady. I like to use quilting cottons for sewing summer clothes for my granddaughter. Cool, comfortable and comes in cute prints. Love your videos. Blessings
Vivmom, thanks for making this wonderful video... I often go to Joann’s, the clearance section is always full with quilting cotton. Bless you. You are lovely. Inside and out.
Loved seeing all these ideas for clothes to make with quilting cottons. I am always drawn to the awesome prints. So glad your day improved after the cats barfed on your patterns. That had to be the pits. Thank you for all the wonderful content you make , Viv! I am catching up on your videos and am always inspired * grabs keys to head out to Jo Ann’s $1.99 pattern sale*! Whoo Hooo!
You are my absolute favorite sewing video-er. Lol. I don’t think that is even a word, but, hey, it says what I mean.🙂. This video was perfect! You would be a great seminar speaker. You are knowledgeable, humorous, beautiful, and down to Earth. You give so many easy ideas to us. Your clothes are practical and easy to wear, as well as easy to sew.Liv, I get so excited when a video from you comes up! I know your other subbies probably feel the same way. I am sorry that your kitty chose your treasures to throw up on....I hope they weren’t destroyed. I hope to have some little tutorials from you someday....like using bias tape versus facings...when and how. I’d even love a sew along video. ( that might be asking a lot🤔) Anyway....loved the information today, and the inspiration you give me. Thank you, Liv. You have a great evening and day until we meet again. ❤️
Thanks so much!!! I’m making a button down shirt out of a high quality quilting cotton I had in my stash that I had purchased for $5/yard… and I’m loving it!!! So easy to sew with. I wanted to see what other garments I could make and you explained everything so well :) I look forward to making another garment out of quilting cotton!
Viv, you make me laugh, I know I say that. every time I leave a comment but it's the truth!!!! You are so much fun to watch!!!! When I was a senior in High School I raided my Mother's linen closet and came up with some very pretty burnt orange fabric. Well, she and my father were gone for the weekend, I was bored and one thing led to another; I broke out the old Kenmore and made the cutest dirndl skirt you've ever seen, I couldn't wait for school on Monday!! When I caught the bus that morning I knew I shined in my white secretary blouse and burnt orange skirt. It was around lunch time when I started to itch. By the time I caught the bus I was sure there were blisters on my waist. You should have heard my Mother laugh when she told me I had used a fiberglass curtain for my new garment. Oh, she also said that's what would happen when I didn't ask her first before I started tearing up stuff to sew.... Judy
Love to you Viv, keep on sewing, which is what I'm about to devote the day to. My husband and I share a work room. He has his trains in his half and I have all my sewing "stuff" in the other half. The invisible half- way line is zealously maintained as I tend to spill over a bit, but it's fun to be able to play together at last. We really don't use the rest of the house.
My dad adored model trains, Susan. I believe he had the HO gauge - is that one? Oh my gosh. He had what seemed like a million boxes of the models and never set them up, to his great sadness. But what joy it gave him! Thanks for a sweet memory.💕It’s darling how you and your hubby can be together while enjoying your separate hobbies. Enjoy!!
I wear an apron every night cooking dinner, Wanda. They really do save clothes!!😄👍I was always dismayed back when I watched the Food Network that the cooks didn’t (a) wear aprons or (b) tie back their hair. !!!
I agree... I wear an apron and tie my hair back as well... it's what I was taught to do... and you are right they really do save your clothes and they last many years, most of mine are made from quilters cotton and will last a lifetime.
I use cotton for peasant or buttoned blouses along with matching prairie skirts with tiered ruffles. A matching outfit is a worthy investment, because it can be worn together on special occassions or separately on casual occassions.
So happy to hear that your going to Italy 🇮🇹 I can’t wait to see the choice you made for the dress for the trip! Always a blast to see Brad making his appearance, you two are hilarious together!
Thank you for your fun, light hearted yet educational videos. You are refreshing! You opened my mind to sewing garments again and with many fabrics I’ve never entertained. Keep those videos coming!
Hey Viv, did you know that flour companies, back in the 20's (?) , found out woman were making clothes out of the bag the flour came in. So they did printed patterns like flowers and stripes on the bags and made the lable wash out so the kids could have pretty clothes to wear. Thats where the saying, " she would good good in a burlap bag" came from.I'll take your bad hair day anyday😂😆😇. Love your patterns/fabric. I use anything be it cotton, home decor, old sheets..as long as weave is good and it will work I'm in😀. Peace, love and light
My grandmother made many many dresses from those flour sacks. My husband's grandmother made us a quilt out of them for our wedding shower, she was 99 years old and hand sewed every stitch. The front is forest green flowers and the back is plain white flour sacks. Heaviest quilt I've ever seen. I wouldn't take anything for it. 😄
I have 3 quilts made from feed sacks in the 20's & 30's by my first husband's gramma & his mother. They are hand pieced AND hand quilted. I was supposed to have gotten my gramma's quilt frame from my dad, but it "disappeared" before I could get it.
I actually made myself a peasant skirt and blouse out of floral "feed sacks" in the late 70s that had been saved by my grandmother during the depression. I still have a few florals and will someday inherit more from my Mom. (Also a huge stack of plain white sacks.)
My granny told me stories about this! I asked her what she used to wear to school back in the day and she told me a flour sack and red high heels and I thought it was hysterical until years later when I found out what the deal was!
I remember well, when my mother used feed and flour sacks to make clothing for us kids. Shirts, shorts, dresses, skirts, etc. She never made long pants, as best I remember. All of her sewing was done on my father's mother's treadle sewing machine. Mama also made quilts and such. She's the one who taught me to sew. Loved to play with that treadle. Since I was the oldest of 5, she put me to work! Took a while, but eventually learned to truly appreciate the skills that she passed on to me. Thanks for bringing back good memories of Mama and her feed/flour sacks. PS: I'm thankful, too, that I have my Grandmother's 1910 sewing machine.
Viv, your a mine of information and tips, and confirming to newer seamstresses that it's okay to use what you in US call quilting cotton. I'm a fair bit older than you, and most of my dresses were made of cotton, my Mum didn't use patterns. I wish I had that skill, when I was a teen in 60's she could knock up a last minute dress out of anything! Cotton was great, it washed so well, kept it's colour, as you said, very easy to sew, and cut! I've just bought a load of half mtrs to make my toddler granddaughter Angel tops for summer, some of them, without even washing are so soft. New seamstresses, listen to Viv, also, some of the prints are just so gorgeous! Mum would make dropped waist dresses with a half circle skirt attached, they worked out well, we loved them, particularly as nobody else had the same. Many sundresses with a matching bolero would be laid out on a Sunday morning to wear to Church, my elder sister and mine were the same, and the one 4 yrs younger would have same fabric, different style, as we were approx 6 and 8, she was 2. I don't know how she did it, well I do, she sewed when we went to bed. At one time she had 4 under 5, then an additional 2, and still worked her magic! My 2 brother missed out a little on the Sunday outfits, they wore their full kilts and regalia, which were very expensive, but at least she had 2 less to sew for...
What a lovely message, Janet, thank you!💕Your mom sounds like a precious woman. How did she do it, indeed!! Oh my. Not only did she give you beautiful clothing, she gave you memories of her “handmade” love that last a lifetime.
When I first learned to sew (self-taught) I didn't know to use anything other than quilting cotton. I've only sewn a few of the challis. Had to learn to adjust my machine on the stretchy stuff! Very good presentation! Always enjoy your videos and look forward to them! Blessings to you and your family.
Well, what a treat! Didn’t expect to see you so soon. I believe that in the 60’s most of my clothes (short skirts, shift dresses like you showed) were ALL made of cotton-although I’m not sure of the blend, etc.. Fast forward to the 80’s and I was making my children’s clothes out of cotton, corduroy, etc.-hence my JUST starting to use knits now. And (crazy face emoji) WHY did I start with ITY’s?! I’ll tell you why.... I hadn’t met you via videos yet! THAT’S WHY I was making stupid choices! Thank you that I now have an experienced source to warn me away from cliffs like that! Whew! See, I hit that silly arrow again too fast! ANYWAY... I had really forgotten the memories of using that so much, and now the quilting cottons are SO BEAUTIFUL! I’ll have to go check them out again. That is...after we dig ourselves out of a world of snow again! YEP-Falling, falling, falling! Thanks again, this was wonderful! And excuse me....but...bad hair day?! PUH-LEASE!! Darlin’!! My 7 y/o granddaughter just drew a picture of me during a recent visit. I had my pearl earrings on-that’s important.......but I had NO HAIR! Imagine my joy...🙄 I’ll be consulting with my hairdresser in the morning!👍🏼 Have an awesome weekend!💝❄️☃️
Oh NK you never disappoint. No hair!! I don’t believe that for a second. Those grandchildren sound as hilarious as you!!💕 ITY knits are a strange beast. Beautiful prints, but my machine (the new one, Ms. Bells & Whistles) sews strangely on them - usually skipped stitches or just uneven stitches. I’ve jimmied with tension and all that. I like the feel of ITY but choosing patterns can be tricky. In the end, there’s just nothing like cotton. It’s beautiful, it’s easy, and it lasts. And it brings back lovely memories for so many people! Gotta love that!😄
Thanks! I agree that quilting cottons make fabulous pants. I sewed alot of shorts and capri pants last year out of various batiks, asian prints, and novelty cottons. Bound and determined to get the fit right and cottons help with that...no slipping and sliding and stretching!
Thank you from Australia, wish fabrics were as cheaply priced here. You have rekindled my sewing bug as have been tied up with quilting, I also have longarm which I do love using.
Having a longarm means you have arrived in the quilting world, Carolynne! Congratulations! My sister quilts and I sew garments, but we can both agree that we adore fabric! lol😄 It seems you will have the best of both worlds. Lovely!!
Awesome! Now quilting cotton I have loads of, hence see my identification photo. I used to have time to sew quilts, but not these days. They take A LOT OF TIME for production. I also very much appreciate the pattern recommendations for sewing with quilting cotton and the warnings on what not to sew with quilting cotton. One of the recommended patterns I could see myself sewing for underneath my jackets for work. Again, inspirational. Thanks for sharing.
I am not an experienced sewist and was im doubt about using quilting cotton for clothes, I thought it could look as a children garment...but no !I just loved your pieces, you have an eye for putting together the right fabric to the most appropriate pattern .Nobody I have watched here in youtube made a video like this. It was great to see the patterns and the ready garments, but the other you have showed at the end are also very inspiring. You take the time to choose the patterns, to think about a great topic, show the garments and give the infos below, perhaps it is these that makes me so happy when I watch your videos. And now I want to sew one after another .Thank you for the guidance and motivation.Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi muhlenstedt👋, loved your note! Thank you.💕I’m happy to read that you want to sew! Let me encourage you with cottons. They are lovely in summer because they are cool, but I’ve found them to be warm in winter. Magic??😄
Thank you so much for expressing that with Cotton's. I quilt alot too and often want to make a garment instead of a quilt. And ugh, cat puke, turns my stomach thinking about it. Happy sewing
I should apologize, Cathy, for mentioning the cat business because it’s so gross. I’m so sorry for turning your stomach! Please forgive me. Future videos will have no disgusting elements - to the best of my ability. Thanks for writing!😄💕
I love quitting cotton, so many fun prints! Anyone learning to sew would benefit by starting with it -- it's a dream to work with! That Russian nesting doll print/dress is adorable 😍
Thanks for these videos. Can you please do a video sewing something easy with cutting pattern out. You're so experienced and fast, I'd like to watch how you go about making something.
Thank you a million times. I need to watch again and take notes and write down some of your pattern suggestions. All your makes are just so pretty , I can never decide which is my favorite.😀
Great information to encourage us all . Quilting cotton has such quirky designs ..it lends itself to fun and frolics with fabrics . Children's clothing can be super-cute . 👭👭👭👭👭👭👭
Thank for stretching my fabric to pattern brain... I have a few of your patterns and a lightbulb went off I am not quilting anymore and have my share of quilting cottons and batiste ....pants you say?? Funny I have not even thought of that!! Lol thank you Ms Viv.
Yay Viv! Thanks for doing this video. I'm always attracted to quilting cotton but I rarely hear of anyone using them for apparel and being happy with them. You're a joy to watch as always. Hope you have a great day! 🙂
Vivian, I do really like quilt cotton. Truthfully, I'll use whatever if I feel it will work. I really love how it performs. So many pretty prints. You do such great work. Thanks for sharing your makes
Well this is the way I’m doing it I buy fabric that I like and buy patterns without having any idea if it goes together with the fabric I bought I think I may be in trouble great video vivmom have a blessed day
Hi, thanks for sharing, I have seen so many beautiful quilting fabrics and was always a bit wary to sew with it, but now my mind is put to rest. OMG there's more fabric to be bought......LoL 😻😻
I’m a quilter at heart so quilting cotton is second nature to me. My nemesis is knits. But I’ve bought the knit fabric I’m going to use and I’m going to face my fear very soon now. Thanks again for another illuminating video. Happy sewing.
I felt the same way, Ana, about knits. But just jump in, you’ll do fine. Let it know who’s boss - as silly as that advice sounds, it’s valid. Knit is still just fabric and you’re in charge! If you run into any roadblocks, I can try to help. The more you sew with knits the more confident you’ll be. Knit tops go together in a flash and you might wonder about buying them ever again! Hope it all works out. Your dear quilting cottons will be waiting in the wings for you, like comforting friends!😄💕
Hi Vivmom! I enjoy your channel so much, you brighten up my day and always make laugh! I was wondering if you would be able to put together a video from picking out the pattern, the fabric, cutting the fabric and the show us all how you sew the garment. It could be something very simple like a swing dress or a t-shirt. I know I can’t be the only one that wants to see you sewing a garment from beginning to end. I hope you will consider putting something like that together for us! Thanks!!!
Hi eliana, thanks for your message! I would love to provide you with that video but can’t promise, just because it would be so long. Who wants to sit through me for that long?! lol. But I can certainly try to expedite the process and film that. I can try! No promises, but you’re awfully sweet to suggest it.💕
I would like to give you an A+ for your presentation. Thank you for sharing and showing that quilting cottons can be used in many styles of patterns. Another excuse for fabric buying....... (not that I really need one!) I really don’t mind ironing either and I love wearing cotton clothes. 😊
Aww, you’re so sweet Susan. And hey! A fellow ironing lover! Ok, maybe not lover. But I certainly don’t mind it; it’s part of the sewing landscape and can be downright relaxing. It’s always immediate gratification to see those wrinkles disappear. Thanks for writing!💕
I think we might be sisters. I too love fabric in playful and large prints, although you are a much better shopper than me and get better deals. Thank you for visiting, show and tell, and sewing tips.
Oh Viv, I’m so glad your day got better after it’s rough start...oh those sweet cats and there little mishaps! I love your ideas for making garments out of quilting cottons and I appreciate you including things that you feel would be best to avoid! This was so helpful... quilting cottons are the most abundant fabric type available in my town...via Walmart and Hobby Lobby. I think I will give this a try!
Aww, sweet cat indeed. (Notice the usage of the singular noun, even though we have two cats😂) They got into some grass outdoors. The bane of my existence with those two!! Glad you enjoyed this video, Tracie.💕
I have several in-house patterns of tops and short jackets I bought from my local quilt shop that are especially for cotton Batiks. Haven’t used them yet, but this video inspired me to go find some beautiful Batiks to sew! I’ve been planning a remodel of my sewing room to add a longer table for my 2 sewing machines and serger. That way my cutting table can just be for cutting and not cluttered with a sewing machine too. I think it will make it easier to make more sewing progress! Thanks for all your informative videos. Always love seeing a new one pop up to watch.
You are such a prolific sewer, sewist, seamstress? Lol! Either way, I love it because it's so inspiring and makes me want to get to my sewing machine. 😄 You have such an engaging personality and one of my top faves. Always look forward to your videos! 😊
Aww, thanks so much lil jmas! That’s really sweet!!💕I’m so happy you’re enjoying the videos and I’m also so happy that you’re inspired to sew. Yay!!! I’ll see you soon with my February Makes...I’ve been eating so many M&M’s I hope I still fit into the clothes.
Viv, you are a joy to watch, you are my favorite sewing utuber. I have some of the pattern that you showed and I'm excited to start sewing with quilting cotton. Thanks
Thanks so much, Cherrica!💕I love sewing with quilting cotton. Sometimes it gets a bad rap, but if the pattern is suitable I will use quilting cotton happily. And the garments wash and wear just fine!
Thank you for this video! I love quilting cotton! I never knew there was anything other than cotton and polyester! That’s all my grandmother used! 😊 Loved the patterns and ideas for what will and won’t work. Hope the kitty is ok! 🌸
Well, I am truly surprised and happy to find you on UA-cam. I have missed your posts on Pattern Review and in searching through UA-cam, you popped up. Enjoyed seeing your video!
Yay! It’s Danvillegirl 👏👏So happy to see you, Linda. Welcome to my UA-cam channel, can you believe it? So much fun! Hope all is well with you and that your sewing has been seamless...(couldn’t resist.) Thanks for popping over, hope to see more of you!😄💕
Great video! Love the info, and love the cotton! Your choice of material as usual, was beautiful! The nesting dolls for your dress was just too cute! Keep it coming Vivmom!!!! Xx oo
Thank you for doing this video! I have several cuts of quilting cotton that I bought years ago, thinking it would make pretty dresses. If I liked it, I went with it. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it would be great if I could wear it. I love your channel, I always look forward to your new videos.
My mom made me a ton of pajama pants around 2004 out of quilting cotton and I still have a few of them laying around, the rest of them were in such heavy rotation that I wore them out! Quilting cotton for the win! Great info as usual!
I love that 1st dress with the Russian dolls
You have gotten so much more comfortable being in front of the camera than when you first started. Your personality just shines nowadays. So much fun to watch. even when your hubbie joins in. Thanks Robin! So nice to have you here and your generous note makes my day!😃
Home decor fabric would make a great pencil skirt.
Thank you so much for this video I think I just learned volumes.🙂🙃
I just love your videos!!! I agree with you...many fabrics and designs don't need zippers or buttons or anything extra. Sometimes less is more!!!
Hi . I've enjoyed watching your video. 👍👍💕💕 thanks for sharing God bless
Same to you, TYSU SHOP! Thanks so much!😄
You are an answer to my prayers!
Viv....you should be on TV wit🥑h your own show...
great presence & FAB personality
....always watch your video's & sew much more now🤗

Thanks Nancy!❤️
That's an easy blouse collar.
I needed this video. I inherited a ton of quilting cotton material. I will never be able to make quilts from all of it. You inspired me to start sewing clothes again.
Minnesota Country Girl it's great for shorts and little girl skirts too!
Blessings
Never thought of using quilting cotton for pants, lovely and cool for summer...thankyou
I have always felt silly when I purchase quilting cotton. Thank you.
Whoo Hooo!
You’re a doll, thanks lciaravi!
Any chance I could hire you to be my agent?! Hugs Cindi!!💕
Judy
ok, you made me laugh as much as Vivmom does!! I can just see you in your skirt, itching away!
Thanks Kitty, that same weekend I did a little altering from my mother's closet, but that's another story....😝
Oh no!!
That's funny! You should submit a story to Threads magazine to be featured in the Closures section.
ThAt is hilarious!
Wrap skirts or gathered skirts are appropriate for cotton as well.
Thank you for this wonderful video. I have since made tons of kiddies clothes with quilting cotton, and a pant for myself.
I love love love the Russisn Dolls. Adorbs!!!!
That was so cute when the pattern fell out of the package.
Enjoy!!
Love your choice of patterns. Such a classic style. Timeless!
thank you for sharing, love quilting cotton as well, look how well aprons have held up over the years...
Thank you for all your helpful advice and enjoyable to watch videos, it is very much appreciated. Love from the UK!!
Thank you so much , with your information that you take your time to share with all of us l
So happy to hear that your going to Italy 🇮🇹
I can’t wait to see the choice you made for the dress for the trip! Always a blast to see Brad making his appearance, you two are hilarious together!
Thank you for your fun, light hearted yet educational videos. You are refreshing! You opened my mind to sewing garments again and with many fabrics I’ve never entertained. Keep those videos coming!
What a lovely note, Denise! Thank you!💕
Hey Viv, did you know that flour companies, back in the 20's (?) , found out woman were making clothes out of the bag the flour came in.
Gotta love that!😄
Another great video. I love your sense of humor as well as your style. Quilting cotton is great to see with.
Thank you, Viv. This is "SEW NICE" to know!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You just opened up my world to possibilities. I love the prints on quilting cotton.
Oh no, those cats!!! 😄 Great video, thanks Viv 💖👍
Thank you for the tips!! The soft knit is unruly.
Thanks! I agree that quilting cottons make fabulous pants. I sewed alot of shorts and capri pants last year out of various batiks, asian prints, and novelty cottons. Bound and determined to get the fit right and cottons help with that...no slipping and sliding and stretching!
Wow, your shorts and capris sound beautiful, Merri. Great choices!!
Magic??😄
Thank you so much for all of the suggestions for using quilting cotton. I've made note of pattern numbers and your hints for things that do not work.
I love to watch your videos. It inspires me and makes me laugh. You are so enthusiastic that it is infectious. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Aww, thanks Wendy! My pleasure.😄💕
I lv the doll dress , want some, quilting cotton is a joy . Hope one day y give us a sew along. Ps lv your patterns ✌🏿️👌🏾😇💕
@@vivmomsews4962 that would be greatly appreciated!!
I love quitting cotton, so many fun prints! Anyone learning to sew would benefit by starting with it -- it's a dream to work with!
That Russian nesting doll print/dress is adorable 😍
Great Job, I sew a ton of kids clothing out of quilters cotton, pj's and little dresses.
Brenda Lindsay yup! That's all I used when my kids were little. Made boys shorts and little girl skirts with the paper bag waist.
Thanks for these videos. Can you please do a video sewing something easy with cutting pattern out. You're so experienced and fast, I'd like to watch how you go about making something.
Thanks for the tips for using quilting cottons.
Thank you VIvmom, you are so fabulous.
Thank you a million times. I need to watch again and take notes and write down some of your pattern suggestions. All your makes are just so pretty , I can never decide which is my favorite.😀
For sleeves, insert an elastic or drawstring at the end of a sleeve or add a cuff.
Great information to encourage us all . Quilting cotton has such quirky designs ..it lends itself to fun and frolics with fabrics . Children's clothing can be super-cute . 👭👭👭👭👭👭👭
Oh my gosh. So many things I just wanna research too!
You’ve made beautiful pieces from quilting cotton, Barbara!😄👍
Another great video
Thank you, traci!🌺
I can try! No promises, but you’re awfully sweet to suggest it.💕
I have so many of the same patterns. Older and current 😃
I don’t sew garments but love your channel 😜. You inspire me to sew garments. Ha!
That is high praise indeed! Thanks so much💕
Thanks, I just watched you sewing room tour. Awesome
I have a room full of Quilting Fabric so this is great to know. !! I now have two rooms full of Fabric I can make clothes from :) :)
No, no erin, I can’t believe I’m a better shopper than you. You’re sweet to say so, though. As long as you’re sewing, you’re doing things RIGHT!!😄💕
Thank you Viv for all your great sewing videos. You've given me some great ideas!
Awwwwww.....I miss my puke cat!😝😽 love the quilting cotton ideas! Thanks so much!!!
Wonderful information Viv, thank you.
What fab makes I love shift type dresses.
Thanks for the video. I seem to have a hard time choosing the right fabrics. This is helpful. So funny about your cats. Hope your day got better.
Ooh a sewing room revamp is always exciting, Diane. Enjoy!!😄👍
Yay!!! I’ll see you soon with my February Makes...I’ve been eating so many M&M’s I hope I still fit into the clothes.
thank you so much for your ideas. I will definitely keep my eyes open for quilting cottons from now on
Viv, you are a joy to watch, you are my favorite sewing utuber.
Kitties are fine. They had gone outdoors and eaten grass. Why? Why why why?!😂
I just bought quilting cotton to make a spring blouse. Perfect video. Thank you. 😀
Thanks, Viv for good information and inspiration! Like your dress made with nesting dolls fabric, I wouldn't have thought of that. God Bless.
