    What priceless memories! How we loved Josie (and Fred). And how fortunate we were to have this after school each day on WQED! Fred Rogers was a part of our lives even before he appeared on camera.

    My father was the cameraman for this show and sometimes played the organ.

    This is how I remember Fred Rogers. Carey and Fred both contributed to the songs. You never saw Fred, but I'm sure you recognize him voicing the characters. This particular show was broadcast before I was born, but it was the same format I watched when I was very little. I loved this show.

    I used to watch that first week of Mr. Rogers neighborhood and Mr. Negri would talk about how everything had been moved, and I never quite understood. I'm glad to see this, Josie carey was a fine children's entertainer.

    This is as far back as the Neighbourhood goes. This is the first show that featured Fred Roger's puppets. I don't think Fred himself was on. I know when she sang the last song that was Fred playing organ. That's why Daniel had to leave :) Thanks for uploading this gem

      He technically was cast onto the show; it’s just that he was behind the wall when playing his puppets.

    • @DD-1996
      @DD-1996  3 роки тому +2

      I think he just had a limited amount of time to change to different puppets; I’m also thinking that he played one puppet with one hand and another puppet with the other hand.

    I've never known about The Children's Corner before this week. It does seem like Daniel Striped Tiger is different. In Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, he seems more like a child. King Friday also seems more pompous in the neighborhood. I've never heard of Grandpere before. Any other changes?

      There were also characters tht lived in the attic: Lydia Lamp and Phil O'Dendron and a few others I don't remember. They weren't hand puppets though.
      I don't recall seeing Lady Elaine Fairchild in (the more familiar) Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, but I remember her as being a fairly active character in the Children's Corner. She claimed to have invented the walking method of Heel-Toe-Heel-Toe. Her character was a bit off-putting, as she had a busy-body, know-it-all kind of personality. Danile S. (for Stripe-ed) Tiger also wore a watch as you see in the above clip. I get annoyed these days when he is referred to as just Daniel Tiger. THE 'S' IS PART OF HIS NAME! But just chalk that snappish=ness up to an old Tame Tiger's toothless growling. I'm 76, watched it after school when I was sitting on the floor in front of our small B&W TV at 8 years old. Grandpere inspired me to become a French major in college.

    Is it weird that I have a crush on Josie from 1955? That's weird right? Is it just me?

    • @DD-1996

      I don’t know. I guess it’s your perspective. There’s some women from the vintage era that I had crushes on (Betty White, Gene Tierney, Paulette Goddard, Janet Leigh, Gail Russell, Donna Reed, Ella Raines, Nancy Olson, Laraine Day, Joanne Dru, Patricia Neal, Lana Turner, and even Maureen O’Hara).

    You know Daniel tiger? He’s supposed to be 4 years old BUT his first appearance was in a show called The Children's Corner and in one episode in April 5, 1954 then he was invented! So he’s 70 YEARS OLD so they PRETEND that he is a 4 YEAR OLD. How do we know this? Well at 1:16 when she said “hi Daniel” we know his first name but when she walks over it’s a tiger so basically daniel tiger will make sence
