Why is our minds addicted to negative thoughts.. I'm doing CBT and noticing how easy it is for my mind that go to the negative. Really trying hard to switch to more positive thoughts and less catastrophic. It's a process
Our minds default to negativity because that's what we've been conditioned to do over the course of our lives from society, trauma, childhood. And over that time, the muscles for this capability have grown huge. We need to build new musculature just as big reminding ourselves that love is the only thing that's real and constant, and "unlearn" our old behavior step by step. You're absolutely right, it is a process, and takes time. Hang in there.
Thank you John! Always enjoy these. So very easy to get lost in our thoughts, judging them, judging ourselves, and thinking we are our thoughts when in reality we're so much more than our thoughts. Learning to not judge them, and merely observe them takes practice. With time it becomes natural, and we can be kinder towards ourselves in the process. Ultimately what we choose to act on out of those thoughts is what matters. And we can always swap those thoughts for kinder, more peaceful ones as we become more aware of the thoughts we regularly have. Not sure if I made any sense there haha! Genuinely thank you!
