When Mariah sings a song, she does it her own way, her own style. That's what really separates her from all the singers who sang Star Spangled Banner. No one has ever sang it this way. It's smooth, it's gliding, and eventually it slowly started to build up, and hit that stratospheric note, and end it with sustained notes in her own way.
It's all about preference.. What I like about her version is that she owns it. It's her style. No one sings like her version. Others might copy other versions where they put power vocals or whatever, but no one sings like her angelic version where it's like she's telling a story..
