What excuses do you make? Happiness is hard to find.
I didn't catch a break. Maybe I am dying inside? February,
been so lonely. It's been so long since I felt your touch,
and I couldn't care less if I deserve this.
I will never survive the sting inflicted.
Sever all ties. Follow procedure. Pledge abstinence.
Fuck at your leisure. Breathe in then out, but not out then in.
Cause over function. Restart again.
I need to see my dreams as I close my eyes.
Remembering nothing and begging for light.
All the trees, all the birds, and this thing called life.
I'd stake it all for forty acres and a trophy wife.
Dust gathers on the books that contain our past,
and we're but peons in a circuit built by time to last.
Repeat, repeat, as we've done before. Our history all lost in war.
When the last of our cities are but powder and dust,
the damned who remain live with God in the glory of us.
February, been so lonely. It's been so long, since I felt you.
I could care less if I deserve this. I won't survive the sting inflicted
Repeat, repeat, as we've done before. Our history all lost in war.

I agree with Kurt. Happiness is hard to find. I can't even find a copy of it that doesn't cost 100$.
This comment is gold
My buddy found a few for 17$ each at a whole in the wall shop in Wisconsin :P
i see you on every dgd related video lmao
i lucked out and got a copy for $75. Can't say that's cheap but Happiness is hard to find ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Merchnow repressed the cd, my dude
This era of dgd needs more appraisal. Kurt as the vocalist and Will Swan as the screamer was and still is amazing.
I imagine is hard to scream and play those guitar parts at the same time. Lol.
They aren't that good anymore. His screams during the Kurt period were awesome, but now, because he didn't really need to scream anymore, he kinda 'lost' his original scream.
This actually isn't Will screaming. I was watching an interview the other day where Will explained that Jon Mess was the one screaming in this song, but either he left the band before they made the video or just wasn't available at the time they shot it & Will was just lip synching Jon's part just for the video. Side note: I'm personally MUCH more satisfied with Jon's improved, more recent screaming style. This is literally just yelling.
@@brandonmonroe9822 You're thinking of the previous Self-titled album, this is definitely Will screaming.
@@brandonmonroe9822 Will’s “Yelling” > Jon’s Screams
In my opinion this song just proves how consistent this band really is. Whether it's Jon, Will, Kurt, Tillian, or Jonny this band seems to shine in musical quality.
***** I mean they can edit anyone in the studio but live Kurt really lacked, as in really lacked
michael latham I agree. He needs to improve. I think it's just because he moves around SO MUCH and ends up out of breath.
EpicGabby the reason kurt lacked during his live performance was his cigarette addiction plus him moving around a lot but when he gave up his addiction in a lot like birds its just a insane difference
***** Thats because Will and Matt have never left.... They are the backbone of the band ,IMO
agreed
Someday people will realize that DGD has not only incredible vocalists, but the musician ship behind the instruments is just as perfect. Not to mention the incredible chemistry will swan and Matt Mingus share.
in reality dgd has the best musicianship they can whoever sing and its gunna sound amazing because how unique and intricate they sound
ghosttt Really? I thought it was about the struggle in getting over a really bad breakup.
SOMEDAY IS NOW
I am a huge Tilian fan but this guy's voice is awesome, sounds really natural.
just not live. oh god not live
Eh, he was pretty good live at least once, I think it was at a concert in 2009 or something, other than he was pretty bad live for a while there.
the great and mighty cheese wheel He’s miles better now he quit smoking
He was great when i saw him in Austin
yup, tilians voice is kinda annoyingly clean. and you can tell he is obsessed with hearing himself
Kurt's dancing in this video is iconic
i dance like him..damnit
maybe his name is secretly gavin who knows
@@sir420rawrdank8 lol
@@sir420rawrdank8 haha But that's Jonny's pet turtle
Too bad he does heroin
Therapist: Thin Will swan doesn't exist. Thin Will swan can't hurt you.
Thin Will swan:
😂😂 this comment is gold
This song is so underrated... No song makes me feel the way this song does.
Whether you like kurt, jonny, or tillain best, you have to admit that Dance Gavin Dance has always found a way to be unique.
Perfectly said 👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
Can we please just get Kurt to come back for Death Star part 2 or Happiness part 2? It would be the greatest DGD album of all time.
It would be badass if they got Jonny and Kurt for a song. That’s all I’m asking for
Who's listening in 2020? Haha bc everyone likes to say that. This song forever slaps
Probably my favorite DGD album
Known them for ages, legit just started getting really hard into them, first time i hear this song -> got to know it from a 10 year aniversary concert
#2021

Who else saw this live at their 10 year anniversary? It was amazing
indeed it was.
It was so fucking good, I got to see them in Columbus :)
Very fun
+Faverelli it was amazing so was a lot like birds holy shit they are good live
Tilians' body roll ;D
proof that not only can will swan play a mean guitar, but is a pretty good screamer too
but live he kinda sounds like hes having an asthma attack
i think Will's screams would actually work better with tillian than mess's screams would
the great and mighty cheese wheel
Sounded fine live when I saw him. Must have literally been having an asthma attack.
I heard Will lipsynced a previous recording by Mess on this album.
Bearded Rizz That was Death Star, and the music video for Me And Zoloft Get Along Just Fine.
Thinking about how much DGD has changed and grown throughout the years, appreciate their members old and new. Rest in peace Tim, you'll be missed.
Amen! “As I close my eyes”
Amen
I was walking in the Tree Village, right before the NASA flight. Carl Barker walked up to me and said he had the key to Happiness, which was Self-Trepanation. He puffed on his Strawberry Swisher, and I replied "Don't Tell Dave." He gave me the second part of the Strawberry Swisher and left. He gave Power to the People.
Kurt is defiantly one of my favorite vocal, his voice is so ... I don't have words for it but very unique.. and his dancing skills.... so freaking epic!!
Yes!!! Love Kurt so much. And his dancing?!? Ugh!! Makes my heart melt ❤️
Very jazzy, very groovy
@@KingdomHeart556 holy shit, I thought I was the only one still listening
Will Swan with no beard and skinnier...watfdafuck? Also this song still continues to kick ass many years later, as does the Tree City Sessions version
First statement true but the tree sessions no :,(
You may be onto something.
M. peraza I don't know why, but your picture is fucking hilarious
I have tree session on double vinyl. Clear red. 😍
Will is pretty skinny nowadays he went vegan
Been loving this song. I never really got into DGD but slowly starting to grow on me.
That's how it starts then you become a full fledged fan
The OG Fire mage in a DGD comment section, my worlds are colliding
Mothership most bangers
@@godofwar0678 yup. it started from my middle school best friend but took til i was like 20 to listen to more than my first 6 favorite albums
Slowly? Sucks for you.
The best DGD Album, imo! Kurt and Will were a serious combo!
YTnMe agreed
YTnMe One hundred percent agree. It sucks that these new kids don't respect the old stuff
What can we do... except listen to the Happiness album over and over, hoping maybe in the near future these guys do something dope.
little did i know that 10+ years later i still take DGD with me everywhere i go and into new life phases. Other bands i used to love i hardy listen to but im happy that DGD is still making music for us as we age into the 30's🤠

Rest In Peace my boy Tim! “I’ll never survive the sting inflicted” fuark!
I still freaking love this song, this band and Kurt ❤️🔥
I missed Jon Mess so much during this time, I think that's why I could never fully get into this album. Still not a bad album though, I love anything by DGD.
ikr where'd he go in this album 😂
he had a lyme disease :(
Are you here because this is your favorite DGD record of all time?
I don't care what new vocalist DGD has they will always be my favorite band and I know a lot of good bands. Every album every song and ever second of any piece of DGD material I thoroughly enjoy. Their whole lineup can change but as long as they keep their own unique sound I won't stop listening. I can recommend so many songs by them all throughout their years of being together but there is not one song in particular that I like over the others. DGD fo' life 420noscopeblazeit
I feel the same way. Everybody argues over who should be the singer or who the best singer is and they're missing out on the magic DGD creates no matter who is in the band
Couldn't have said it better. Especially the DGD fo' life 420noscopeblazeit part.
people need to realize if a vocalist or band member moves on to new projects, it doesnt ruin the band. enjoy the new projects and enjoy their roots, tilian is a good vocalist and shows more of the modern post-hardcore scene but still offers something different, and johnny craigs jazzy vocals are still ear porn. both are still here
for real though.. long time DGD fan here... love every second of every song of every album.. i'll never get enough of DGD! their style isnt like anyone elses.. the entire happiness album was so funky and groovy..
nooo johnny craigs does make a diffance!!!! the band is still great but its somthing missing lol
I used to listened to this everyday in my playlist like 10 years ago and I lost my Ipod, since then I have been searching for this song. It feels like forever and I'm starting to give up. And now I found this and it makes me so happy!!
If anyone can say that any of the vocalists for DGD sucks or sounds horrible, they aren't true DGD fans to me... They are all amazing
Or, they're deaf.
no jon mess sounds fucking terrible until acceptance speech
jew Your judge mental he sounds great in that area he had a raw unpolished scream
@@cameron5367 Jon Mess sounds terrible until Downtown Battle Mountain 2*
He also sounds pretty good on WISIRO for some weird reason.
@@cameron5367 I barely know Dance Gavin Dance, but I've been listening to "Whatever I Say is Royal Ocean".
Again, extremely small sample size for me, but Kurt Travis, so far, blows Jonny Craig out of the water, and Will Swan is solid, while I can barely tolerate Jon Mess.
I'm going to still give it a try, but I've tapped out halfway through most of the tracks on the album so far.
THE best dgd album dont @ me
Every time I hear this song I remember her
This
Who?
Will's screams remind me of old old From Autumn to Ashes. I love it.
Will's screams are really great, though the shots of him in this video seem kinda cheesy.
I use to hate Kurt's cleans but I've grown to love them
This is the song that started it all for me and this band. I brought this warped tour cd back in 2009 and played this track until the damn cd broke lol.
Best Gavin lineup right here.
This is one of these bands, where every single song sounds differently and doesn't have any repetitive lyrics. They are quite unique and i like them.
It’s February, and I almost forgot to listen to this song.
It’s just been so lonely, y’know?
This will mark 5 years sober from Jesus and Will and Love and Joy and Real and Surrender and Love and Jesus and Real and Real and Real and Real. Thank You For Playing and Being Real and Jesus and Love and Jesus. Amen.
ok, so hear me out
Will Swan's scream is better than old school DBM and Death Star Jon scream
Jon has grown so much and developed, but early Will may have him beat
Will... screams are literal shit though lol
@@operatorfailski8328Live yes, in studio they’re passable
Look at young Tim... Rest easy 💔 We love and miss you
Tim was so young, RIP King
God bless my family with good melody and good harmony. Amen.
My fav part is from 1:40 - 2:12 how it plays out, overall great song
all time favourite, first song I heard that got me hooked
I'm digging the Mars Volta influence.
I always thought DGD had a Mars Volta influence in a lot of their songs
They do. This song especially shows that.
I love how no matter how many vocalists they go through they still maintain their absolute awesomeness.
I love how Kurt's the only one who still looks anything like he does in this video.
Kurt and Jonny have been my favorite so far. But DGD has always had their own vibe that I'll never get enough of
I was at the show where they played this for the first time ever live. If I'm not mistaken it was at the Black Sheep in CO Springs. First tour with Travis after JC was booted out.
I like all the vocals
2021 still jamming like it's 2009.
Ugh I just watched this live in Chicago last night....everything these guys do...just Yes.
LONG LIVE THE KURT ERA
Still insane to see that this only has a million views from when I was a middle schooler to now as an adult...
best era imo
RIP Tim
still on my top 10 albums. these licks are so fucking tasty to this day, I have tears in my eyes as I type this. Thank you Dance Gavin Dance. This was my favorite line up.
Swan looks so angry when doing the screams. It's really so different than his super chill vibes on stage ever since Mess joined.
TILIAN IS THE BEST DANCER!
WHAT ABOUT JONNY????
+TheChillman456 B-But.. this is Kurt..
pretty sure that's Kurts beautiful ass xD
you but Jonny has fuller vocals
Wow I’m still here listening to this song in 2023. Such a banger!!!!
Baby Tim 😭 fuck I miss him
Favorite album
Who gives a fuck about who is singing for DGD at the time. Everything that they put out is amazing. Besides, we all know that Matt Mingus is the real jewel here
Zurc Al-Ed He deserves more praise than he gets, he's my favorite drummer.
He's such an underrated drummer
My personal favourite from them, the chorus from 2:32 is just sooooo powerful
Too funky
11 years later and this song still fucking slaps
there best album imo
The good songs on this album are amazing, but it has a lot of filler. I think The Death Star is a stronger album, but this album will always be my favorite.
We love you Tim Feerick. Always and forever. 🫀
1:48 when the band just grooves together omg
I miss this time. These were such wonderful years for me.
0:45 That moment when you can actually hear the dudes cheering up in the studio after Kurt recorded that "sting inflicted" part. Anyone else noticed?
WOAHHHHH THATS WHAT THAT WAS?
Never heard anything until now, but I like that lil “Woo!”
God that guitarists vocals are so savage in every song
its 2019 and its still dope.
1:18 most replayed!!! I LOVE YOU WILL
Very uniquely stuff! Seems to have jazz, incubus/slight Deftones influences!
Warrior Tha Witt They're a great band. You should check them out more if you already haven't.
I just realized thats Tim playing bass in this video. I know he wasnt on the Happiness album but he was the bassist for a while on the tour after Jason Ellis left
but seriously, what was matt thinking with the stache
Booker Amadio For real.
+Booker Amadio the best things? because he is not only A man, he is THE man
+Booker Amadio He was embracing the funk
+Booker Amadio Thoughts that were greasy AF
Will gave it to him
this band is awesome
No doubt a great band as a whole but I personally don’t think anything they put out before or after even compared to the happiness album, such a unique vibe that will neeeever be replicated w/o Zac and Kurt.
It’s that time of the year again
Skinny Will Swan is such a strange thing.
Jonjey Comms Video filmers must've been like "hey, Lets zoom in wayy too close to his mouth when his vocals go, good idea"
i think its funny that swan is completely emotionless while they recorded him screaming in this video
Happy birthday, Kurt Travis! 🎂🎉
now this is that good ish
Love kurt ❤
I'll always wonder why no one acknowledges Wills lows' at the very end of the song
I just realized them for the first time lol
Ive been a DGD fan since day 1. They have gone through so many changes are phenomenal still. This is secretly my favorite ERA. #2023 Repent Repent Repent!
am i the only one who enjoys the drums
+the night Owl Nope. I always enjoy DGD's drums. Mingus is a fucking beast
Yes.
COLD KRISPY BACON i play
Matt Mingus was the person who got me into DGD. When I heard those drums for the first time, it was like love at first sight.
Shan Shivakumar Love at first sound
This is my favorite DGD lineup
Our Massive Potheaded Days
When i seen them live on September 24 2013!! that date was the best day of my life!
I wish will would do more screams on the newer albums along with Jon
I really like that Kurt screamed in this a little bit lmao 😂😂😂 we need more of the lees singers joining in with the mess himself
The most powerful song sang by kurt, others for me still didn't go as high as this.. Jonny was still good though
Hot Water On Wool?
Spencer Holmes Carl Barker?
Carl Barker's a ballad. It's my favorite song of their's, but you really need to look between the lines (which Kurt wrote) on the Death Star album.
Still one of their best albums.
omg this band reminds me of the fall of troy O_O i love it
thanks osu for this banger of a song
I
God bless and keep up the good work. Amen.
came here cuz its febuaray
it's still too good
