At 3:00 you ask "how Japan gets their shit so perfectly". The answer is easy. Japan supports and fuels talents of their children, while the US dismisses many talented children as having unrealistic goals. Japanese children are nurtured in an environment that promotes their potential, while in the US, such talented children are left to garages and video games. It is the difference of values between the two cultures.
No, Japanese Culture pushes for the Arts(Music/Painting/SInging) if the parents see their child has a knack for it because those are very realistic things that could happen. I mean shit...you have Babymetal who blew the fuck up and are HUGE. US culture is the Monetary Mentality. As in "How is that going to make you money?" the US is obsessed with money and things that make people money.
Another fact: Play an instrument is mandatory in the educational japanese system. Also the music education is like another subject. A lot of secundary schools have music clubs. Not only "light music", algo orchestral, wind, chords... Just put millions of childs to learn how to play an instruments, a lot of good musicians must emerge from this
I live in Japan. They have musical education. As an aside, there is a drummer Senri Kawaguchi, a young woman, who is one of the finest drummers in the world. ua-cam.com/video/YWbK5QiucOk/v-deo.html
A short bio of Band-Maid, Miku the second singer and second guitarist wanted to be in a band so she searched for musicians then she met Akane the drummer, Akane knew and was friend with a guitarist Kanami who was friend with the Bassist Misa. So the band started and for the main singer the band made audition to found her, Saiki was chosen. So yeah The band was not formed by a music company but just a group a friend who like doing music. As for their concept, Miku worked in a Maid cafe in the past so she got the idea to make a band made of maids. As music experiences let just say that most of them are veterans musiciens with years of experiences, except for Miku who started to learn the guitar after the band was formed, because the thought a second guitarist would be nice.
You're correct. As for Miku, it's really a shame how some people on the net still treat/name her because she only learned playing after the founding. Those people won't even recognize her efforts. I'm glad I was at their concert in 2017 in Germany and 2018 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (both times front row opposite of Miku.)
Miku Kobato is indeed, a genius. ;) She first started to work on a maid cafe, had her dream as an idol group (Lil Cumin) which didn't really take off. She didn't quit, and envisioned a band of maids and hard rock. Her persistence, and how she gathered all the five of them, she's the beloved little pigeon, no doubt. ^^
Thank you for reacting to BAND-MAID. They are definitely one of my favorite as far as Japanese female rock bands. I am in love with their sound and their lead singer is amazing. I may have to subscribe if you keep reacting to these awesome jrock/pop groups.
Thank you for doing it, man. Band-Maid is my favourite band alongside BABYMETAL. On the Wikipedia section: They released the name as "BAND-MAID®" with the "Copyright" symbol but they dropped it before the release of their third album and their name is stylized with Caps, I ordered their second and third albums via CdJapan and they are absolute pure gold. What I respect a lot it's that they are a classic formed rock band (Miku [Backup vocal/guitar] invited Akane [Drums] to for a band {Miku worked in a MAID CAFE for about five years, they got their name from that}. Then Kanami (Lead guitar) Misa (Bass) and Saiki (Vocal) joined). I'm going to their concert here in Mexico in october and I can't freaking wait.
***** Hopefully it is! I even bought VIP tickets, showed the band to my dad not knowing what was going to happen. He instantly became a fan and we are going on Meet And Greet and everything :)
Remember the good ole days when heavy rockers sang about... guess what? Now the girls who rock just as heavy (and maybe heavier) are singing about it too. Wtf is there to complain about?
Last year I saw Thrill and was instantly hooked. BAND-MAID is just so cool. I also saw them live at the London ComicCon and they rocked! And seriously, they are also just so cool and nice :)
Nice react! Been a fan of Band-Maid for nearly 18 months and they continue to impress me! Saw them live in May when they came to the UK and got to meet them, they were blown away by the huge support for them! React to Crossfaith please!
Hell ya. First time I heard Alone I was at work and it was running in the background. Kanami hit the solo and I stopped dead in my track it was so awesome.
Great reaction, right on point. I'm 60 this month and played bass in a rock band in LA in the '80s. These lovely ladies would have given us a run for our money. Without debate, the best band of female rock MUSICIANS ever. Now, check out the Japanese metal band Galneryus.
Welcome to the fan club! Pick up their latest CD from JPU records, it's many tracks of awesome music. Their back catalogue is on Google Play Music and Spotify too. The video for Alone (and the song) is amazing. They're not without a sense of humour either, it was released on Valentine's Day ;) The group's playing Mexico later this year, so whilst it's not quite 'down the road' it might be worth making the trop if you live close enough.
Miku the Rhythm Guitarist/Back Up Vocalist started the band. She also suggested the Maid Theme, since she used to work at one of the Maid Cafes (Maid Themed Cafes) that they have all over Tokyo.
The Wiki is telling you how their name is supposed to appear in promotional materials. Stylized in capped fonts "BAND-MAID" with the hyphen. That's why it appeared 3 times. Note that the 3 times it appeared in that sentence is all different. The official name is BAND-MAID.
The band formed by itself, not manufactured. There is an entire maid culture in Japan and Maid Cafes across the country. Two of the girls in the band worked in one, and formed the band, wanting the sound to be in opposition to the looks. It totally works, Here is the drum solo to Maximum the Hormone ua-cam.com/video/WZMbd7WGVhg/v-deo.html
own it and love it. and yes, japan is and has bin since i was in high school a music capital. ive bin at it since the 90's and japan just does not run out. any given night there can 20 live shows playing in some of the most random spots. it has to be in they're gene's.
I do have some other bands/vocalists for you: HeadPhones President, Yōsei Teikoku (translates to Fairy empire), Liv Moon, Oreskaband, Kanon Wakeshima, Kalafina, Stereopony (though this band has been disbanded) and Chelsy for starters.
I used to watch the US Top 20 when i was in Japan, just to see what was up. My homestay was so confused that the same songs would be in the top 10 for MONTHS. She said that the top music in Japan is always changing. I think it's because individuals tend to be more fluid with the genres they listen to. I also think they're much more original with their sounds and singing between musicians.
Great reaction. What Japan is doing is simple....they are playing 80's style arena rock with a Japanese twist. You can hear it with both Band Maid and Baby Metal. What made 80's era arena rock great was that it had a lot of melody, along with the power. Unfortunately, too many western bands long ago gave up melody and great singing. The Japanese still respect that style of music. If an 80's rock/metal band tours in Japan today, they still sell out huge stadiums.
I was Fa-loored when I saw Thrill for the first time! Then I assumed they were merely a creation of some producer and the women weren't actually playing their instruments. Without being able to understand Japanese, that misconception lasted awhile. My impression now is they're the real deal, and are their own creation. I still would like to know who they work with as a producer, and what that person's track record is.
I like the comment about "how does Japan know how to make music so perfectly". The real reason is because the music industry, in America, does not take chances. If you don't fit into a niche you are not going to get signed. Answering the question about if they got together on their own or if they were lable created.... They are together because of Misa. This is not a lable made group and they rock. The new CD Brand New Maid is amazing. They have 2 vids for that on UA-cam you can see. Non Fiction days and Alone.
I discovered this video after discovering this band and the creepy thing is that the videos i saw were in the exact same order as this guy(no it wasn't a playlist).
The girls are pretty bad-ass. I was stationed there back in the '80s... LOL!, this is new stuff, though. If you liked this, I could make some other suggestions. Yeah, Japan has some surprisingly really good music. U may want to go out there for a few weeks.
Brother, you need to do a reaction vid for a Japanese band called "Tricot". They are an awesome (currently all-girl) math-rock band who kicks some serious ass. You wanna see talent? Check out Tricot.
You probably already know , by now . The Founder Miku (The singer/guitarist) ,this was her Idea . Thrill rocks ,It's Gaming Battle sound loop . ( shhhh :) ) These Ladies performance is tight .
Band-maid rocks, i am listening them everyday even if i don't understand almost anything :) Btw, try with band called Doll$box starting with the song Take my chance if you didn't yet :)
one from my favorite with SCANDAL,wagakki band, aldious , destrose, fate gear, bridear, mary's blood, babymetal... and in scream rock/visual kei like exist trace, dazzle vision , galmet ....
Band Maid is great!!I love your reaction to them .I felt the same way the first time I heard them .Check out a JRock band called Dazzle Vision.Try the song named,"Second".
Ryan you need to react to Mary's Blood / Marionette MV(Full) its an amazing video and you need to use headphones otherwise you wont be able to hear the bass properly through speakers.
dude, i got turned on to these girls by a lajdy friend whose mom is japanese. the only other time i was this blown away was when i saw iron maiden in 1982. the lead guitar player is a majorshredder
***** Really? I thought you would have gotten that from anyone many a times before xD But anyways dude love your reactions to these videos so far. Stay awesome.
I love this band I remember when I first looked into them I thought it was just gonna be gimmicky but they are seriously good. Part of me wishes they would drop the maid gimmick because they have serious talent and they don't need the gimmick
kylie Roak Had the same Reaction but I think the Maid Outfits are a Bonus. I mean Cute Japanese Girls in Maid Outfits that play awesome Music, what do you need more
If you want to react to good Rock 'n Roll, check out The Tomboys (from Japan as there is also one from the U.S.A.): Tell me why and Please remember me. There are not much video's yet as they started as a coverband of Scandal in 2011.

Are you sure about that? I've heard the exact opposite, relatively speaking.
No, Japanese Culture pushes for the Arts(Music/Painting/SInging) if the parents see their child has a knack for it because those are very realistic things that could happen. I mean shit...you have Babymetal who blew the fuck up and are HUGE. US culture is the Monetary Mentality. This is true for girls but most boys are expected to get more traditional jobs.
Another fact: Play an instrument is mandatory in the educational japanese system. Also the music education is like another subject. A lot of secundary schools have music clubs. Not only "light music", algo orchestral, wind, chords...

This band is indeed outstanding. I just found them a few weeks ago, but purchased both albums and listen to them all the time.
Thank you for doing it, man. Band-Maid is my favourite band alongside BABYMETAL. Have fun and enjoy yourself! I would love to go too
Rafaela S.M Thank you very much!
lol band maid are Awesome ...
Did you notice that "Don't Let Me Down" is sung in English? And it's as dirty as hell!
Yeah, I didn't realize that until my 2nd or 3rd listen. "Oh, this song is in English... oh... it's in... English... Oh, my..."
Holy shit I just look up the lyrics and thats dirty enough
dirty enough is not enough to describe that song
Remember the good ole days when heavy rockers sang about... guess what? Now the girls who rock just as heavy (and maybe heavier) are singing about it too. Wtf is there to complain about?

Hell yes!
Haha, todays they have sick solos in every single song. Those girls rock

"HOLY SHIT!!" Amen, bro! Welcome to the wonderful world of rocking maids. And all three of their CDs are great, no disappointment there!
"I feel that she'd get to where she's going faster if she stopped running in slow motion" LOLOLOL, dude, the things you say crack me up!
:)
and nobody is coming up with anything. they formed the band on their own
awesome right?
So ?
Miku the Rhythm Guitarist/Back Up Vocalist started the band. She also suggested the Maid Theme, since she used to work at one of the Maid Cafes (Maid Themed Cafes) that they have all over Tokyo.
Domination Feb 14 2020 note how they conspire to do a change up about a minute in, on the fly and pull it off.
I just got introduced to baby metal and lady baby and band-maid just over this week end and they blew my mind.
SO AMAZING!
look at "alone" and "the non-fiction days" new songs
due to the commercial that came before the video i just started to sing "return of the mac" without being aware of the mac name XD
They formed the group, themselves. The maid motif is because one of the girls worked in a maid cafe.
I still haven't been to a maid café. I should probably try one next time I vacation in Japan.
The Wiki is telling you how their name is supposed to appear in promotional materials. Stylized in capped fonts "BAND-MAID" with the hyphen. That's why it appeared 3 times. Note that the 3 times it appeared in that sentence is all different. The official name is BAND-MAID.
Drumm Solo? Freedom live February 2020
Try searching for the band called Doll$boxx's with the song "Take a Chance", they did the maid theme first I think.
Ikr? I love BABYMETAL and BAND-MAID they are both so unique and talented ! I loved your reaction to Kanami's solo...yeah she da best

They are together because of Miku. Error corrected. lo :P
Thanx... I do that every now and then. Same amount of letters and beginning.
Feel the same, they became my instant new favorite band.
It was their idea to get the band together. I don't exactly remember who started it, but they all had ties to each other in some way
I discovered this video after discovering this band and the creepy thing is that the videos i saw were in the exact same order as this guy(no it wasn't a playlist).
