- This tree topper looks absolutely amazing on a nature themed cake 🌳
I used 16 wires each measuring 12" in size. After it was completed measured around 7" in height. If you're working on a smaller cake you might need to cut the wires shorter. Although please bear in mind that when the wires are twisted the height does get a little shorter.
Divide the branches however you like. In twos or even threes. Branches aren't perfect. they're long, short, twisted...
I brushed the choc on the wires in layers. I let it dry and brushed over again. As the choc hardens it creates a beautiful bark texture.
The batter for the moss was poured into 3 cups even though theres only 2 shown.
If you're looking for a darker tree try dark choc for the trunk and branches and holly green for the moss.
I used Sugarflair gel colours for the moss

Hi Maria, thank you for sharing this video! How much in advance can these trees be made? What is the best way to store the trees until ready to be put on a cake?
I would make the structure of the tree about 4-5 days in advance and then make and stick the green sponge when it’s time to place the tree on to the cake

@@marias4cakes I tried and it didn't come out right so I opted for a basic vanilla cake, and dyed it green, I did do a much bigger tree, so I also use bigger wire. But it was awesome.

Yes it is very light in weight. I stored mine for over a week in the refrigerator in an airtight container

They are just floral wire. If you say wire for tree toppers you will get tons of kinds and just look at reviews to see the best ones for you! Sorry this is late. Hope it helps!
