I've got the Samix Brass Hub carriers on my TRX-4 and I love them. SUPER easy install. I've just ordered the front and rear diff covers and they should be here tomorrow, really looking forward to them. Love this channel, thanks so much for all your hard work my friend.
Waaooo thank you for this info. I just got into this awesome world of rc, i am waiting for my RTX4 to arrive, i ordered a couple of days ago. i was looking for something that won't break easily and add some weight and SAMIX looks like a good quality product.
I have all the Samix brass in the front and rear. Running the hobbywing 540 with the fly sky also run the rc4wd sliders. When people see my rig. They ask me “ you watch Rc review?” 😂
I have them on my trx4 as well. However i did noticed after attaching all 4 wheels that the axle pin has like 1mm play back and forth. Basically i can feel this movement of the pin when pulling / pushing on my wheels. Do you have the same ?
good choice of upgrade i have the aluminum yeah racing axles combined with samix portals, hex hubs, lower shock mounts, diff case, diff cover, with the axe 2300kv and flysky radio. Each axle now weighs over a pound. the front is 1.492 pounds the rear is1.316 pounds. the performance is night and day now the truck doesn't bounce all over the place at high speed and it's more planted during technical crawls

For sure Samix should be a good choice, but the price is impressive... For portal covers exists some cheapest full brass solutions that adds even more weight (109g for wheel). For differentials cover we use fishing weight (2×30g each axle) and get nearly same result with a couple of dollars (they are also invisible at first look). Last but not least in our experience weight in the back is to avoid like poison, because it affects any big step. Maybe it helps a little for lateral rollover, but it make a great difference in frontal climbing, that is the most in real pattern on mountain. In any case your job is always much appreciated because helps to discover good selected products, solutions and help understanding how they work ! Thanks a lot !
Great Video as Always my friend , Also my first Truck , after subscribing to the channel back then ... time has come n gone , Some mods on my rig " weight , tires , rims an Servo upgrade ... love this rig , Still my fave . Have not changed the motor yet or electronics yet as they are still running without issues. That Hobbywing Run all in one motor , Cool idea , watched your Video on it , but I think Im gona wait till your " Time review " on that motor before pulling that trigger . Cheers Great job 🥂👌 as always , and great Informative info in a clear manner. Tc , stay safe everyone n RC on !!! 😎
That's my favorite too!!! I do swap to a jeep body when we go crazy rock crawling, but if it's more trail stuff I put the defender body back on. What bumper are you running on the front?
I would be good to see 2 TRX4s leaned over/driven etc one with Samix and one stock to measure the effectiveness. The mock discs are nice for sure, but I have the Gmade SR02 wheels so it doesn't matter to me!
I bought my brass from yeah racing, not cheap either. One side portal seems to cause gear resistance… Still unsure what’s going on. Could have gone with Samix ...
Francis, I must say I am surprised you have stuck with the stock Traxxas radio on your oldest TRX-4. Do you feel it has some redeeming qualities nowadays, or is it just good enough to not bother swapping out?
Cool so the fusion 1800kv is doing good with the heavy brass think might get one.....been looking out for more test or run videos with the system in it
Hey man, or anyone, what brass portal covers fit the trx4 sport without losing steering angle, also that fits bead lock wheels? Some ppl say lots of brass portals don’t fit good
Hi Frank. Isn't he HobbyWing Quickrun combo considered a "540" size motor? The TRX4 comes standard with a 550 size. Do you loose overall power/torque by going down in size?
It is 540 motor with the 1200 - 2300kv. You loose only topspeed with the 2300kv and below. But with 2 gears it does not matter. Even my 1 Gear TRX_4 Sport will get the 1800kv.
Added Samix portals, knuckles, carriers, rotors, bumper bracket and shock plates. Now that I have all these killer parts on and spent all that money, I don't even want to crawl with it. Might have to make it into a bitchy trail queen and get another rig for crawlin..
I've never used samix before. It's something I'm gonna look at now. Why did you put more brass in the back and not the front? That has to hurt performance.
great mods really liked it :) I willthing about this upgrade sooner or later :) my defender is my young baby it has 2 months :) If you courious movies are on my channel, its my firs advanced rc vechicle and i am loving it :) peace out. Your channel was first i vieved serching for best loking and performing crawler.
Excellent video - Picked up my TRX4 a couple weeks ago and fitted brass portal covers before I even ran it for the first time. I made a little 3 min cinematic of its first outing, its on my channel if you're interested. Thanks!
My bro has a full CNC crawler that's just too heavy it struggles to do the most basic task just like a real over GVM but my stock Redcat gen 8 Axe walks all over it and so does the Austar..... yep that horrid cheap thing with a set of working shocks installed works well and from this experience Ive been not interested at all buying over priced low grade brass but that's just me.
hi, you convinced me to buy a Traxxas and now I have a trx4 sport in kit with AXE from hobbywing.... Thank you!!
Great to hear!

To install is there anything to drill or glue or things like that

Always like the defender I don't have one. but I do have the trx4 sport with the rack amazes me how well it crawls🙂

I have some Samix parts. They are great & always fit perfectly. Only downfall is price!

The high and heavy body also give it some roll as it drives along a trail, it gives it good realism.
Yup. it moves so well on the trail unlike most crawlers.
I'm waiting for my first Samix delivery for my fresh SCX10ii XJ kit build. They seem thin on the ground now (in the U.K. at least) - excited! 👍
I did already put the TRX4 shocks on it however - way better than the axial shocks.
Awesome parts. Love my brass portals.

Fusion 1800kv is good, or the 2300kv systems. I do prefer the Axe Foc (Auto Drag Brake/Bluetooth/ !!!Intermediate Mode on RPM/Throttle Matching!!!
Hi. Is that a Vanquish Origin Pro Tube Front Bumper, it looks great on the Defender. A big thanks for all your great videos, very informative 😁
Yes it is! Fits like a glove and works like a charm. So good and so cheap snp.link/18fd4e09

Are you still going to do a review on the Treal parts?
yes. here's what we have so far ua-cam.com/video/Gx0JCk_BZzg/v-deo.html

hello what is the best oil for shock absorbers?
Are those the heavy titanium wheels? If so where did you get them?
Those are aluminum Treal wheels. ua-cam.com/video/yj43KoSsN0M/v-deo.html
Titanium is never heavy since they're one of the lightest metals around
I've never used samix before. It's something I'm gonna look at now. Why did you put more brass in the back and not the front? That has to hurt performance.
It happened to be what they sent me. Not my first choice for steep climbs.
This is mostly a trail crawler though so works well. very planted!
Im seriously considering buying a UDR, but many reviews had me thinking.... Should I? Is it true the car can't really withstand driving it on 6s.
It will be perfect. I had ome
What size od tires?

Most of them are not really legal so don't want to publicize and draw crowds there.
ps you can see it in my channel... may be...
