Great targets. At 40.75 degrees latitude here in dark sky Nevada, USA, I was able to image M8/M20. Wonderful colors! I am planning a trip to a very dark Nevada location for the Perseids (Check out Eastern Sierra Observatory) and putting together a list of targets for August 9-12th. After a few years, it takes a bit more effort to find targets I haven't imaged yet. Clear skies.

Couldn’t agree more with your list! Cygnus is just incredible! One thing I would love to image which is also not visible from my back garden is Rho Ophiuchi. Will have to travel south next summer!

Thanks Clem! I’d love to image Rho too

I would add some more: elephant's trunk, question mark, iris, heart & soul nebulae and fireworks, pinwheel and whirlpool galaxies.

All of them are on my list. I have captured them all but need to improve by getting more data and by working more on my processing techniques. ❤

Good list of targets. Cygnus with it's neighboring constellations is my favourite area for imaging, most of the area being circumpolar in the UK and high enough for imaging at some point in the night through most months of the year. Not only that, there is a good diversity of targets, including two famous planetary nebula (M27, M57) various emission and dark nebulae, open and globular clusters, there's even a face on spiral galaxy (NGC6946)
I hope to image this target this summer along with the Cocoon Nebular (IC5146), but I never get tired of those targets you mentioned either, even an unmodded DSLR with a 135 f2 lens will give reasonable results. I always use Star exterminator these days when processing images taken in this part of the sky so I can process stars and nebula separately, that way you can prevent the stars overwhelming the dso.
I'm hoping to be able to do some imaging from a dark sky area this summer too, I will probably go for the Eagle Nebular,

Very helpful. As a beginner, I got to know some new targets and check is they are visible from my backyard. CS!

Thanks for the great overview. The Veil Nebula group is also an excellent narrow band target which you can shoot during a full moon.

I got my old 150mm mirrors back from being re-aluminized and coated. They also told me after testing it that my mirror was less than 1/10th wave and was above average. I sent it as it was covered with paper towel scratches including part of the aluminum was rubbed off. I bought it for cheap so for $180 I got a great 150mm C6-N scope. It is outstanding what I can see now.
I live at 32 degrees latitude and Omega Centauri is in sight for a little while longer, it is the largest globular cluster in the Milky Way. Eagle Nebula is awesome at 150x, but 200+ tends to shimmer. Only thing restricting my views now is turbulence in the atmosphere. lol

Great list! I bought a WO ZenithStar 61 this past winter. Will try the Veil nebula complex. I shot the Eastern Veil last summer with a 110mm refractor and L Extreme filter. Incredible! Dr B from Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦

Thanks Dr B! The eXtreme is a great filter to use on the Veil 👍🏻

Thanks for the list of objects - always helpful to have these sorts of recommendations.
I will add these to my "to do" list !
One of my favorites so far is the Dumbbell Nebula (M27).
I would definitely recommend that one to anyone.

Great target! Haven’t imaged that one myself as it’s a bit small for my gear

@@AstroExploring I was a little concerned about that too, but I am using an AT70ED refractor (420mm focal length) with a stock OSC Canon DSLR (1200D) that has a crop factor of 1.6... and it turned out pretty good considering it was my first time. So I would give it a try - you never know !
