Just ordered from Amazon when I found they have it in stock this evening. This is my go to lens on A7R4. 20mmG+35mmGM+85mm1.8, compact, light, sharing 67mm filters, wonderful combo! At last, I need a 100-400GM to fulfill my camera bag.😄
@@HectorRiveraPhotography his content is interesting, his photography is beautiful. He is an interesting guy and humorous. I like the channel. I see it taking off. I’m gonna check out some of your videos as well 👍🏾. I love a good photography channel.
Finally, one of the coolest dude in this photography business. Would like to se more of you (at UA-cam);). Looking forward for more content 🧡🙌🏻. Great lens btw. But I already have the zeiss 1.4. Looking for an used 24 mm 1.4 gm
Great video! I have the 35 Distagon and I tried the 35 GMaster. All super for the G master. Only one thing: too perfect! Very limited and 'neutered' flare. With the Distagon I have a beautiful flare (similar to the 50 G 1.2) and very blended colors/blur. Did you notice too .. especially the flare?
I couldn't make up my mind on whether to sell my FE 1.8 and move to the GM. There aren't many reviews that made a real world comparison, but your video really helped. I ordered the GM last week, arrives in a few days. The 1.8 is so good, it was a hard call to make... Thanks again for making another excellent review. All your videos get straight to the point, with real world / practical content. BTW - I don't often see maps of New Zealand on YT!
@@gregory7887 I did sell it. Wasn't easy considering that the price, IQ and size is so good. But the 1.4 is well balanced and I don't find it to be heavy or too big. I also love the aperture ring. The biggest difference is smoother bokeh on busy backgrounds and significantly better control of CA. The 1.8 is definitely better value for money but the 1.4 is a cleaner image. No regrets.
Haha you have a really great eye my friend! It’s indeed one of the nicest looking backpacks I’ve ever had - Compagnon Backpack. Superb quality too. compagnon-bags.com/en/shop/camera-backpacks/183/the-backpack-2.0
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Thanks very much for the information! Also thanks a lot for the great reviews you have done, though not a lot on UA-cam. Wish to see more in the future!
Thanks for such detailed review, i am using Sony FX3, comparing Sony 35 1.4 GM and Sony 35 1.8 for video shooting and film making purpose only. If I don’t mind the focus breathing issue on GM, just considering the video image quality. Does these 2 lenses make any noticeable differences? Someone tell me the video image on FX3 is only 4K 10bit so on video I would hardly notice any differences, but I would like to buy GM if it does perform any better on video image quality. Thanks
Great review. I just don't know whether to worry about the focus breathing as I'd use this for video (with AF.) Would I get knocked out of focus in AF with the reported breathing or what's all the worry about this reported issue?
Hey Daniel! Thanks! Check my comparison video with Sigma where I show how exactly it looks with this lens. Also you might notice in that second video how focus breathing of 24GM affect the video - the first part is recorded with this lens and you can definitely can see that quick focus shift one or two times there. Hope that helps!
Hi Maciej. Great review - I have the 24GM and I looks like I have to get get 35 as well :-) Also hope for 50GM, to replace my 50/1.4 Zeiss beast. Looking forward to your next videoes - keep up the good work.
Hey Anders! Thanks so much for kind words! Yep, I guess once you taste the awesomeness of the new GM lenses there’s no way back :) I’ve been using Zeiss 50/1.4 for a while, but switched to much smaller 55/1.8, so just like you - looking forward to get a compact 50GM. Let’s keep fingers crossed!
Thank you for the insight!! What a great comparison! By the way may I know how about the image quality between 24mm gm f1.4 in crop mode compare to 35mm gm f1.4? Does bokeh make much difference between 24mm crop mode and 35mm f1.4?Since im deciding whether to save money and get 24mm instead of 35mm, Currently im using a7riv and had 55mm.. thank you
Hey Albert! Thanks so much! SO if that helps - check these samples shot with 35Gm and 24GM im both FF and APS-C modes: www.dropbox.com/sh/s55z0d8wkj07b5k/AADephVOQKJ1XuUsSk-uz082a?dl=0 I'd say you'll get different geometry with these lenses. 35 will have more compression (background will look like it's closer) and in general different look. Bokeh also seems to be different, but wether it is or isn't a problem for you - it totally depends on your use case :) Hope that helps!
would you recommend the 35 or the 50? im debating between the two but wondering if i should put in the extra money for the 50. I have the sigma 24-70, tamron 17-28. i shoot mainly fitness photos and video. lots of vertical content. idk im still debating..
You got more comments here than subscribers, and somehow you managed to get this lens pre-release. Something doesn’t add up, but otherwise, great review of the lens. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.
Haha thanks! Although your math is a little bit off :P but totally get the point, yeah, just started UA-cam like week ago, so starting from scratch :) glad you liked the review!
Great video! I already got one and its amazing, I always got chromatic aberrations on the Sony 35 1.8 and it looked so weird sometimes. (and sometimes with the lightroom tool it was still notable. Anyways keep up your great work ✌️
Great review as always Magic. Finally purchased the lens. Not sure if this is normal for this lens, but when you are in AF-S it does a very quick pulse. Have you noticed this on your lens?
now i have to buy the 35 GM. actually shooting the 35/1.8 - but i don't like the flaring of the 35/1.8 - too much for me - and the bokeh looks superb i see
I have the Sony 24mm 1.4 GM and the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM so I am sure thet the new Sony 35mm 1.4 GM are great, but I do not know if I need a 35mm with 1.4, so I might get the Sony 35mm 1.8 or the Tamron 35mm 2.8 which are exellent at aperture 8.0 which are great for landscapes, maybe I will have all 33mm lenses ;) I wish for a new version of the Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8, it need to be 55 or 60mm, I do NOT like 50mm lenses, much better with shorter or longer than 50mm ! I also wish for GM macro lenses and for compact prime 200, 300, 400 and 500mm lenses with high resolution.
Oh man! I’m jealous of that 135GM! Didn’t pull the trigger on this beauty yet. But I do have Sony 35/1.8 and it is really awesome lens for that price! Let’s hope for more compact GM lenses :)
Great review! It is a nice blend of (technical) details and great shots. Liked and subbed. Sold my 35 f1.4 ZA and ordered the GM.

the only difference you would notice would be if you shoot video wide open - 1.4 vs 1.8. If you don't use 1.4 then I'd say all in for 35/1.8
