I'd guess it's because however cool it is, it's pretty limited in how much creative expression it allows. If you truly wanted to make unique songs on it, instead of just re-hashing the same rythm and sound and melody set ad infinitum, you'd have to keep creating and programming new pieces all the time. Combined with the fact that in 2009, 3d printing wasn't as accessible as it is today, i think that's why.
If it were easy to play as is lovely to look at, then yes! The reactable is complete, it interface syncs to with software and external machines without any problem, but I think the problem was a bad promotion has been, this instrument is for expert musicians or dj producer and not for everyone.
Sadly, this guy, Roberto Giuliano, passed away in mid-July. I spent so many hours in his music practice room in Turin and this song in particular has always stuck in my head. RIP ReacTj, thank you for everything ❤

Had a few releases under the name "Hypothermiac" too. I remember shuffling to this back in the day too. This brings back tons of memories. Edit: ReacTable has or had an app to play around in too. I had it for a while.
I check back at least once a year. Favorite parts are when the pink block get introduced and the final sequence with all three upper pink blocks. You are right , it still hits like day one .
