Yes, there is a closely relationship between the two rhythms. And furthermore, the second voice becomes a tumbao if you change it into 4/4 and plays a slap in the right hand instead of the muffled stroke,,,
Hej David. Max Jimeño (actulally) or "Maximinio", is an old guy living in Habana Vieja. He is my pardrinos father in law. I've only received lessons from him once, when my pardrino had to go away due to some religious ceremony. I'm glad the you like the pattern :-) I often use it to present 6/8 rhythms to new beginners who hadn't played that long.
