@@kfredGM... I'm responding late but this fish goes well with a thin red gravy and I hope you can try it that way it's how my French Creole grandfather prepared it / hung on a nail outside and pulled the tough skin down with pliers 💪
Very Interesting on how you cook a gar fish, this Is a first video I have ever seen on cooking gar. Your methods of cooking is outstanding, I can smell now, and wish I could try it. Looks very delicious well done k Fred !!!!
My dad taught us boys how to make those 'Threaders' out of wire for setting up Chubs for catfishing when we were very young. I have some I made in my tackle box to this day.
I lived on the Air Force Base in Columbus MS and would fish the Tombigbee River 4 days or more a week for Gar, just for Sport. The locals would come and get large Gar and say they loved them. I tried it years later and realized they got lots of really good eating fish from me over the years. Its got its own taste, Like a Turtle, you cant explain it but its good. Try it smoked with garlic butter.
Excuse me, I had to wipe the drool from my mouth. I haven't had Gar Fish in about 20 years, good eats and yours looks delicious ! It's hard to beat Gar balls, patties, fried, stew, balls and spaghetti or over rice and many more combo's ! Love your catch, clean and cook videos ! ! ! KFred too !
Amazing, I've always heard that garfish makes a great gravy and not you just proved that for sure. That fish sure looked tasty my friend. So weird that restaurants in Louisiana and Texas don't have it on the menu. I would definitely order this from a restaurant. Restaurants just serve the usual catfish, trout, or salmon.
@@jimmyfumbanks6081 brown gravy with gar probably good because the texture of the fish almost like pork so therefore similar to a pork roast, notice how the fish didn’t break apart in the pot while he was browning it on all sides just like you do a pork or beef roast
Great video, K Fred! January is a hard month for me up here in Alaska. It seems extra long with our darkness and cold. But your videos bring me a lot of joy! I watch them and I can almost feel the Louisiana sunshine (and humidity). Have a blessed week! Food looks delish!
Aw thank you so much Kate! We’re actually getting a little taste of that cold weather tonight. Happy I can bring a little joy your way. Stay positive, winter will be over before you know it and you’ll be in the most beautiful place in the world.
What An Incredible Way To Cook Up Some Delicious Looking Gar🥰🥰 Great Video As Always Ken💯👊🏻👊🏻❤️❤️ I Absolutely Love My KFred Seasoning.. It’s Amazing On Everything That I Have Put It On🥰🥰🥰🥰 Thanks For Sharing!!!
Im more of a city person and here in Australia. I think we have different kind of fish that is called Garfish but nowhere near those size of the Garfish that you have there. Garfish here is also different appearance. Those are more like a ancient looking ones. Its interesting. Thanks
Kendall I love your videos and I did what you did on this video. After it was done, I almost threw my black iron pot away. Gar roasts are just not my thing.
How about a video on how you do your corn and your okra? Where did you get that pan that you cooked the fish in? The big silver pan. Always enjoy the videos keep up the good work.
Over here in Pakistan we have a very popular river fish called Rahu, which we get in winter, plain white fish, No fishy smell, we usually deep fry this, and its not expensive..
Nice video, Kendall. Is there anything you don't know how to cook? You're better than Justin Wilson (maybe)! Always enjoy your content and look forward to the next show.
Mr. Fredrick, your channel has officially become my favorite!

After all these years, why didn't I think to cook it like a "roast"? Way easier than making boulettes and cleaning your grinder.....
