THANK YOU! I don't know why they don't list the games they cover
Because this elitist dudes really want to be listened up.
We do have two shows dedicated to the TurboGrafx-16. One about shooters and an older one called Underrated: The TurboGrafx-16. A Saturn episode will likely be made at some point. Thanks for watching!
I usually went to the arcades either alone or with my dad and he only knew how to play Hang-On so I was SOL. :)
We featured the Saturn version a month ago in our Left in Japan 3 episode. It's amazing!
I wish people would stop hating on emulation all the time. I swear, 90% of the popular game reviewers and game-talk people act like emulation should be shamed. Some of us don't have the money or space to buy tons of consoles and entire game collections. Even some people that DO have the money and space, just find it more convenient to play on their PC, since they can have everything together.
I can understand that collectors like their collection. And I can understand that, when making a video, you'll want to use a real game on a real system if possible. But that doesn't mean you need to act like Emulation is horrible. No, it's not perfect, but there's tons of people, like myself, that's never going to go out and buy entire collections of games, and emulation is the only way we're going to be able to play them.
Personally, I'd think fans of older systems would LIKE emulation. It allows people (that aren't collectors) to play more games that they may otherwise never even try. There's tons of games that turns out I like, that I would have never even known about had it not been for emulation. Same with some game systems like the TG-16.
I do understand that you still used emulators for this video, so it's not like you're COMPLETELY against it apparently. But this comment's more to whoever reads it, not just you guys.
Sorry, I know this is off-topic, but I get tired of youtubers acting like emulation is such a bad word.
I don't recall exactly what we said about emulation in this episode and I'm far too lazy to rewatch it, but please know that we don't think emulation is bad or that people shouldn't enjoy it or anything like that. We personally just prefer the real thing. Emulation can have errors. Did we show the GI Joe arcade game in this episode? I know we showed it somewhere and there were emulation errors in it. And I think more than 90% of game reviewers out there use emulation for their shows. So please don't feel that we're talking down to you on the subject of emulation. It works for you, that's great! Nothing to be ashamed of. No reason to have less fun. :)
Game Sack It was right at the start actually, when you mentioned you'd have to emulate to show some of the games. It wasn't so much what was said, but how it was said.
And yeah, a LOT of reviewers use emulators. But most of the /popular/ ones I see on youtube, tend to stay away from emulators. And a good portion of them have said they think emulators are bad and act like people that use them are bad.
I didn't mean to sound like a dick or anything. You guys weren't that bad with it, you only mentioned emulation once. It's just, I can only hear "emulation is bad" or whatever, so many times before I have to comment.
I was thought reviewers tip-toed around the emulation subject due to the whole legality thing. Technically, it is illegal to download the games and BIOS files. I don't think a lot of the companies care, but I could see why someone wouldn't want to advocate it in a UA-cam video.
Walter Hunt It's technically illegal, but that doesn't mean people have to act like it's such a bad thing. If they don't want to use it, that's fine, but there's no need for their versions of "Emulation is bad and you should feel bad", every time it's brought up..which a lot of youtubers I've seen do.
That's what I meant. If you did a video series that relied on reviewing games, you probably wouldn't want to say nice things about emulation. Some of these UA-cam reviewers rely on the publishers for review copies of the games. Publishers probably don't like emulation. I know Nintendo doesn't.
But at the end of the day, who cares? These are videos for you to enjoy. Not the be-all end-all of the opinions you can hold. I emulate and enjoy it. I've got a PSP stuff full of roms. I would never be a classic game collector, I personally think it'd be a waste of money. Doesn't mean I can't watch these videos and enjoy what these guys do.
Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder was such a fun arcade 4 player game. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs was another Capcom classic. Lots of memories playing them in arcades. Another great episode guys.
Damn, I miss arcades!
Arcades still exist. I'm thinking about going to one soon because of this video

Everyone does! especially the ones that you really need to use the actual machine, like 'time crisis'.
Love to see a "gaming memories" episode on all the arcades you guys visited over the years.
When the arcade in my hometown closed I wanted to cry. I was actually super bumbed.
You should have talked with the owner about their machines, some of them just got left or dumped.
Don't be disappointed, we can always revisit the subject again. We're getting a lot of great suggestions.
I only recently found your channel and now I spend the whole weekend watching your masterpieces. Keep it up!
Greetings from Berlin
I never realized when I played Tecmo Knight that it had Goatse in it. Now it's all I can realize when I play it. Thanks, Game Sack!
I thought this is what they were talking about.... So I checked here to make sure I wasn't alone in that thought...Apparently not lol. Never going to unsee that now...
Superman's arcade was one of my favourite games and I loved how they used the music from the movies as BGM. That was my favourite part of the game, besides it being a beat 'em up and a shoot 'em up at the same time.
Wild how much the channel has changed and how far you've come in production quality. The meat and potatoes is still here but you've definitely become a pro at this!
The old episodes are better than the new ones.
"You're dirty and low.." I love you guys!
“Im not having anything on the Joemiester” was the best line in this episode.
Great video lads, I used to love the arcades too back in the day, unfortunately as you said, if it wasn't for emulation, no one would be able to play these great games anymore.
Really enjoyed this, so liked and subbed👍🏻
This is a great video series for anyone with a full set of Mame roms. Its good to have a review of the more obscure titles I never got to play, and I can now fire them up on my TV..... Emulation
I have fond memories of the Superman arcade game. Considering when it was released, it was a great looking and sounding game for the time. The gameplay was limited, but I always had fun with it for a quarter or two.
Oh, I remember Lucky & Wild! That's a driving game where you actually sit down in the cabinet! It reminded me of the Lethal Weapon movies!
My favorite game left in the arcades was Alien Vs Predator from CAPCOM. It came out in 1994 on the CPS-2 arcade game system. It was too awesome. One of the two human characters is Arnold Schwarzenegger's charcter from Predator and he has a giant robot arm / chain gun..
jeremy arecco same name, different games. Arcade versions of AvP and Battletoads are NOT the same games as their console counterparts.
"No, it wasn't Joe, because he's just an average friend..."
"Ask you girlfriend what, or who she was doing back when you were playing Tecmo Knight". Lol wow, touché
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs was so popular in the arcades in Egypt in the mid 90's
Everyone picked Mustafa and his bio said that he is from Cairo ;)
"Or even between fights at Chuck-E-Cheese" hahahaha
love the channel. seeing your older videos in my home feed is nice.
Thanks to this video I gave R-Type Leo a try, what a fantastic game. To be honest it blew me away and after many virtual quarters I got to see how wild the later levels are! I thought I was the man the first few levels but then I was put in my place. Like they said, it’s challenging but totally fair about it.
LOVE this shows subject PLEASE do move of these like Part 2 or something, you guys are the best thing on the internet bar-none ! thank you for everything you guys do.
The Superman game is bizarre with 2 players. The 2nd player is a Superman, the same sprites, but with the Shazam! palette. Like you guys said, the programmers didnt care about this one
Maybe you are thinking of Golden Axe The Revenge of Death Adder in this same video where the Dwarf rides on a giant? Or maybe Dahna from a Left in Japan video where sometimes you ride on a giant? Man, Japan sure does like having their game characters ride on giants!
Time Killers (Arcade) is one of my favorite guilty pleasures😌
Great episode. So many great games I didn't know about.
Caddilacs and dinosaurs is at my local arcade as well as r-type leo. Im happy to have a local arcade also revenge of death adder.
Update in 2022: I no longer have a local arcade.
I have such fond memories of the arcades when I went on holiday. One time I was in the Rainbow Arcade, I must have been 8 or 9 and this guy was watching me play an ATV racing game and started bragging how good he was to my grandfather who was with me and they ended up betting on who would win and I thrashed this guy. My grandfather gave me the £20 note we won, that was my first bit of money that was my own. Over the course of the weekend I spent it all in the arcade but it was worth it.
Love the arcades.
When I got my dreamcast I really wanted lost world Jurassic park arcade to come to that console but it never did.
Great show, loved it!
That G.I. Joe arcade game would be nuts with all 4 players
The graphics in Willow and R-Type Leo are pure 👁🍬 for me.
Great episode as always.
Capcom did that a lot with their arcade games. They put the game on the NES but it was the same in name only. Strider is a great example of this. They even mashed Street Fighter and Final Fight into one game.
My local bowling alley had Golden Axe Revenge of Death adder on a big screen back in the day. It was so awesome having 4 players at once.
I like how Dave hit Joe right in the cox with the door knob at the end.
The superman game did come to home consoles. However, they lost the superman license and the game was called sunman on the NES.
The goatse reference
at 9:05 made me laugh
MathiasShaw637 I think this is as far as I will research this
I'm only seeing these now, in the future, in the year 2018, where, get this Donald Trump is the president! It's pretty f-ing awesome! Anywho as I catch up on episodes I'm really hoping for a meatspin reference.
9:01 is more appropriate to setup the joke.
Great show guys! As usual!
only reason I look forward to every second Monday. keep up the good work!
I like the Superman arcade game! I beat that on $4 & no experience....also with another player but it was a good memory! Thank you for covering the obscure Superman game!
That Willow game looks fun, love the colorful cartooney graphics!
One game i absolutely love in the arcades was and still is CarnEvil. That game had a lot of interesting level design, enemy designs plus an awesome host that introduces you to each area. There's also plenty of Horror trivia in the game as well including a masked killer and even an evil demonic Santa. If this ever game out for any home console or pc I'd pick this post in a flash.
I wasn't aware that Game Sack had already featured Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.
It's a beautiful beat em up for sure.
Jesus..... that return of death adder looks fantastic.
Great episode guys! you showed some good and interesting points there about most of the games reviewed. I especially liked the ones on Willow, GA2 and R-type Leo.
Very good work, as always. Already waiting for the next episode!
Another great ep guys keep it up.
We did not notice that! But that's because we haven't played that X-Men game yet, but we will. Greetings from Colorado!
Just found out about this series, this is great stuff.
God bless MAME!!! And I'm a proudly owner of a good amount of old games and consoles, but arcade games are usually superiors to the console version. Anyway emulation it's a great thing, I buy old games for fair price usually in the google play store for example, r types, snk games old shmups....but I'm not going to pay 10 or 5$ for a 15 years or so old game on the Nintendo e shop or other like that.
Sr. D I miss MAME, broke my laptop ;(
god bless mame indeed. the emulation quality is sweet, and i discovered a fuckton of great games because of it.
arcade games are instant fun.
i used to buy some of the virtual console games on the wii, but really, not having a cross-buy function for nintendo consoles makes everything almost pointless.
@@sudoukun the Wii is a useful option, you can home brew it and install a lot of that again. 😀
Sorry, but MAME sucks. Hated it when it was new and still hate it to this day. Why? Because the emulation is horrendous (and the fact that the MAME devs are known to be jerks to people who criticize their emulation efforts).
Awesome! This is a topic that could be revisited for many future episodes. There are so many! One of my favorites is Armed Police Batrider and Gunforce 2.
The version of MAME I used for the Mac includes controller support. For other MAMEs you will need to apply a GUI shell or some other nonsense to get all of that working properly. Kind of a pain but I guess once you get it set up you don't have to worry about it.
Glad to see Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder on the list. The Duel was the one that got ported due to the fact capcom helped with that one, but not RoDA.
I love it when there's a new gamesack video, but it always makes me sad because it's another 2 weeks til I see another :(
Actually that was the sequel, Wizard Fire.
great idea for a show guys looking forward to new episodes of this and trying out this gems on the mame
some good memories here. That Superman game ate a lot of my allowance.
Awesome review, keep up the good work guys!
I remember playing that Sega Spiderman game at an arcade called Diversions near my home in Chicago, IL. I didn't think much of it and I may have only played it once. But for some reason I remember wishing it had come out on Sega Genesis. Back then, I just wanted ports of ALL arcade games for my 16-bit consoles just to see how close they could get to the original source material.
I really enjoyed the subject of this weeks episode. Loved seeing games I'd never run across in the arcade as a kid.
Also, loved the goatse reference.
That ending was hilarious, great job.
Thank you so much. I have been going nuts trying to remember Tecmo Knight and was talking about it last week. Now I see it in your video and I can rest easy. Great video, love your work. I would LOVE to see you guys do an on location video at an actual arcade if you ever got the chance. I know they're rare but.. would be Great to see.
I literally bring up emuparadise and download every game you guy recommend on these episodes as im watching them its actually great cuz i forget what i downloaded then when i find it i say damn this is a great game where did i hear about this oh yeah it had to be GameSack thanks guys
Another awesome video. So cool I found this channel. Keep it up guys.
There's an arcade game I played in the early 90's that I can't recall the name of... it was a monster truck racing game. It looked similar to the last Super Off Road game on snes (mode 7, hills and whatnot) I mainly picked a truck similar to big foot, but their was also a monster bus, and one similar to the grave digger. I only recall a couple of stages, like one that has you spiraling up and up and up a mountain that has a road that becomes cartoonishly thin, roaming through a frontier like setting, dodging trees, log cabins, and frontier folk.... I believe it's this stage that ends on a long dock. just when you think 'oh crap. i'm gonna hit the water and drown!" You
hit the water and your giant mud tires act as turbines that keep you afloat and propelling forward. I've never found that game for a console or otherwise.
Spiderman was by far the most heart breaking non release at home for me as a kid!
Dance dance revolution was my favorite arcade game of all time
big fan of the Macross Plus anime, and had never heard of the arcade game until now. Nice work, Game Sack.
Cadilacs and Dinosaurs from capcom is great... and never was ported to the home consoles ;(
Luckly there is an arcade not far from where I live.
But... still watching this makes me wanna install mame emulator on my pc -.-
And din't this golden axe came out on the PS2? I'm pretty sure that I have compilation of some sega games, 3 of which are Golden Axe games for my PS2.
yeah but none are the one they was talking about
dudes you are one of my favorite channels keep it up :)
09:04 oh nice! Good thing I didn't understand that ten years ago, also I shouldn't know what you were talking about. Watching old game sack episodes can still give me overlooked jokes.
its a good thing Golden axe death adder is finnaly getting a home version thanks to the Astro mini
Keep up the SUPERB work guys...I hope you never run out of ideas....you always suprise me....I also can't believe that being a huuggee fan of Golden Axe, I never heard of Golden Axe: Death Adder's Revenge....THANKS AGAIN!!!!
Psycho-Nics OSCAR came before Turrican, and was Turrican's inspiration.
I used to play cadillacs and dinosaurs on an emulator with my dad when I was a kid. we played all sorts of arcade and neo-geo games on our old pc
good work best games only arcade
LOL the ending!!
Great episode. You are my favorite UA-cam-channel. Take care.
God, I loved Metamorphic Force. The music just totally made you feel like a badass in that game.
As for future arcade only games, how about the following; Alien Vs Predator (Capcom), Warzard, Air Combat 22, 1944 the Loop Master, Dimahoo, Alien 3 the Gun, and Star Wars Trilogy Arcade.
I just love the intro song!
that goatse reference lmao
now you know when another gamesack episode was uploaded..and when the gangam style craze was born
The Willow game for Nintendo was awesome. I love the music for it too. Surprisingly enough it was also made by Capcom.
That Spider-Man looks kinda slouched like he was in his 40s & depressed about his choices in life
One problem with the music games is they they would likely be flagged by UA-cam for their music. Even though most of them are covers, they would get auto-flagged anyway.
Cadillacs and dinosaurs are so similar because they were built using the same engine, capcom made a handful of other games around the same time using the same engine.
Man, I loved that Taito Superman game back in the day! A nearby Roses had that and Ninja Gaiden and I spent much of Ma & Pa SlyBeast's money in both of them. Good memories.
Great episode guys, and emulators are sometimes only way to play some really rare games and stuff :)
man I miss arcades. There is one here in Portland that is a bar. But they use quarters!!! Gets pretty expensive to relive that 80's feel. Slamming down some PBRs while playing Xmen and Elvira pinball is pretty awesome though.
That golden axe game looks great.
Sega Sonic Arcade is one of the best classic Arcade games I ever played, man did I spend a lot of money on that thing back in the day, also I'd include House of the Dead 4 but it came out for PSN eventually, sucks how I spent tons of money on the Arcade before it came on PSN!
Devastaters was released for XBL in the arcade room. The GI Joe NES games are AWESOME!
you should do a crunch of left in the arcades since theres so many of these now.
I played Cadillacs and Dinosaurs in the arcade in Gran Canaria in 2005. It was awesome! It's based on a comic-book series called Xenozoic Tales.
R-Type LEO looked awesome!
