I loved this show. I was 17 and a junior in high school. This show is a pure joy and classic. I met Beau Arthur once in Santa Monica back in 2001. I told her, I loved you as Dorothy in the Golden Girls. She replied, "yes, I will probably forever be remembered as Dorothy" She was a lot taller in person.
My grandmother introduced me to this show when I was probably 8 or 9 years old. Back then, 95% of the jokes went over my head; I just enjoyed watching TV with my Grandma. Years later, I'd revisit the show as a teenager...and I laughed like crazy.
What a gift Susan Harris gave us in the Golden Girls. To create Soap, Benson and then Golden Girls is phenomenal. What a cutting edhe she brought. The show is still energising and inspiring. When I watch the show it gives me sucha feeling of home. Bravo Tutti! And thank you xx
I miss Rue :( she was brilliant and died way too soon compared to the other actresses who lived in their 80s (and 90s) :( she was a baby compared to the 3 others :( may you rest in peace dear Rue
Amazing . The show premiered 4 days before I was born and here I am today watching this show on Hulu ! What an endearing show and legacy . Doesn’t matter that I’ve seen each episode a dozen times each I still laugh . That is the mark of a truly incredible show that will still be showing reruns when my kids have grandkids !
My 96 year old mom lived this show. Whenever she had a rough day I put the show in. Oh how she loved Dorothy. We loved watching this together. Now they’re all together in heaven. I miss you mom. I rewatch this show often.
I fell in love with The Golden Girls when I was 13 years old. I can't explain exactly why I loved them then but in a strange way I think it was because older people had a life (fun fact the fist time I saw the show was in Florida.) In a few weeks I will be 30... Not very old, but watching TV shows like Friends where all the characters are early to mid 20's, it is hard to relate to. To see people who are much older than me still living life putts me in a good mood.
The few good memories I have with my grandmother, are with this show. I think all of us have a special place in our hearts for this powerhouse of a group.
this show is very comforting. my favorite part of every episode is when the camera pans in right after the theme song and the instrumental violin music or whatevr plays-- you know how it goes-- and it shows the front of their Florida home and the lighting and the grass and the whole image is ABSOLUTELY what Florida looks like at 9:15am. i lived there in tampa i know. this show is the best if you stay home from work or school. ive watched it since i was little and i am now in my 30s. i remember smelling popcorn and hearing this show when we would have to go to bed when we were kids and my parents would be watching. we'd come out get a handful of popcorn and watch a scene or two until we were told to go back to bed. ive just recently gotten back into it and it is part of my routine when i get ready for work in the morning. Dorothy is my favorite, the chemistry between all is unmatched to this day.
Me too, love that opening scene when they show their house, its so comforting as you say, its a beautiful way to capture and start the morning:) absolutely love the show!:)
My girlfriends and I have spent a lifetime together, and now are Golden Girls. We always said that if we were alone we'd all move in together, in Florida, in a house with a lanai. Problem, we all wanted to be Blanche. :)
Don't you just love the writing? Blanche: "Half the men I dated in high school were just for the stories!" Dorothy: "You must have more stories than O. Henry!"... Blanche: "I gave her the directions..." Dorothy: "And who are you, Rand McNally?"... Rose: "Well, I think it's sweet." Blanche: "You would, Betty Crocker!"...
It's my winter 'survival kit' - I try to not watch it too much other times of the year but come winter, it's on all the time. My 7 year old daughter memorised the theme song when she was 5!
me too i fell in love with Dorothy the first time I focused myself on watching GG, she is the character that had an impact on me, i thot Rose would be the best in the show, but for me it's Dorothy. :) Thank you Bea for giving life to Dorothy, no one will ever be at par for what you did and give to DOrothy. RIP Bea
I am 25 watching this show in 2022 and I have watched more modern series than I can count but I am telling you, ain’t NOTHING like the Golden Girls !!!! Raw effortless comedy and laughter!!
I was a teenage black male when this show was on. Somehow, I watch the show pretty much every week. If you ever had a strong female personality in your life, this show touched all of the feels.
I watched this show when it was on the air as a little girl and love it...now I watch it on Prime and it still makes me laugh so hard, sometimes I am crying. I laugh for different reason now.

I've seen all seven seasons and the spin-off. It is the only show I can re-watch any episode no matter how many times and still laugh and enjoy it. I'm so sad three of them have passed on. :/ Bea was my favorite in the show.

Oh… you know people are soooo hung up on age! Why? I grew up around older people all my life and never even had any problems with them due to their age. I didn’t see them as a age… they were just people. I loved them for what they were not their age maybe that’s why I was the kind of kid that never even saw 40 as being old!!
Hey there mrbry728...........I bought all 7 seasons..and I have watched them so much, specially the 1st and 5th season....they are wearing out I have watched them so much...love love love it :)
I love all seven years of the Golden Girls. The Golden Girls was first sitcom who showed two men who were in love and planned to marry. This episode is shown in sixth season of the Golden Girls. Blanche's brother Clayton and his boyfriend Doug want to marry but Blanche is not for that idea. But in the Blanche accepts her brother being be gay and also accepts and friendly to Doug. I also love Roseanne seasons 1 through 4. In sprig of 1995, Roseanne was the first sitcom to see a gay marriage live on prime time. Both episodes one from the Golden Girls and the episode from Roseanne, will mean the world to me. I love both the 1991 episode - The Golden Gils and the 1995 episode - Roseanne..
