Im from new zealand born in 1958. This is the first song in my life i fell in love with. The sound of his voice moved my heart all the while not knowing what he was singing about. The music and melody had me floating about the ground. I have always loved this song. I learnt it as an adult
Yes, some songs are just like that - no need to understand the language. They touch your heart. I have a few of those. Try "Butterfly Lovers" violin concerto. Orchestra, or Solo. Learn the phrases of the Chinese love story, then your emotion goes up and down with each segment. Wonderful!
Iwas about 11 years old when the original singer 's song came out and played big time in America . The whole Summer of 1962 or 63 ?; this played often on the radio; great memories .
Heard this first in 62 as well. Was at Robinson Barracks elementary in stuttgart getting vaccinated per army protocol. Very calming. Esp for a 7 year who hated needles
sixty six years ago I was sitting back having breakfast when my family back in San Antonio, Texas when I first heard the original version of this tune. Which then inspired me to become a trombone player. I'm now going to be 71 and this version, though not the original opens my heart to the feeling I held then when I first heard it. The Lord Jesus Christ blessed me that day and I became a trombone player four short years later and I am still one to this day. Thank you Mr. Nakamura for inspiring me to become a trombone player and thank you Jesus Christ for opening my ears on that cold Texas morning. I've been a trombone trombone player for 61 years to date.
I remember when this song came out in 1962? Even though I did not know the language or the singer, the words and music flowed so well together I could not stop hearing it in my mind. This youth orchestra did a fantastic job! Thank you for posting.
Sending congratulations to you from Canada. This song will always be a classic enjoyed by everyone world wide. Thank you for such a beautiful arrangement. Very pleasing to my ears.
Regretfully, Kyu Sakamoto, the singer of this now-famous song, was killed on August 12, 1985, when JAL Flight 123 crashed, killing 520 of the 524 passengers and crew, the worst airline disaster of all time. Kyu was at the peak of his popularity at the time, and became "the face of the tragedy." To this day, many older Japanese still have bittersweet memories when they hear "We'll Meet Again."
I am born in the year that the song was introduced and in the end it put me on one long road towards all that is Japanese. History, martial arts, culture, literature, films, music and now finally the language...
The first time I heard this song I was a bit confused. I didn't understand the language but the melody was sweet and I liked it. When I read the lyrics in English I knew it was a love song. My mind associates the song with Sakura, and two lovers among the cherry blossoms.
I was a 6 year old in England when I heard this song on the old wireless and always loved it. One of my most favourite tunes and this young orchestra have done it proud. Well done to you all and thank you for sharing it with the world.
I was ten when it came out and was playing trombone and I appreciate the trombone player. 10 years ago I learn to sing this song in Japanese. Go for it if you haven't already. Yes this is a challenge

I've always loved this song, and hearing the Japanese youth of today playing the music is for me very sweet, as it helped to break the horrors of WW2 and begin to slowly unite nations. Kyu has done a wonderful job unknowingly for the future!
Oh God, this warms heart so much. The Clarinet and the Oboe. Music that heals both nations from such death and destruction. Dedicated to Dad, my Uncles who fought Pacific theatre and without animus.

Incredible talent displayed by each musician. The 1st violin is particularly superb. His passion is obvious. It speaks of the professionalism and dedication of the orchestra members that this magnificent interpretation of an all-time classic was done at the height of one of the worst periods in human history. Thank you all and may you keep entralling us with your music.
The Orchestra for this music is truly amazing and you guys did such a brilliant job putting it together to make this music so phenomenal. Great job - I love it.

記得第一次聽到這首歌是在80年代我高中時,後來才知道我那時聽到的已經是翻唱的版本,之後還特別去找原唱坂本九的唱片來聽,這首一直是我最喜歡的歌之一。
