That may play a part, but budget guitars have been around for a long time. I believe the biggest factor is lack of motivation. It takes time and effort to learn an instrument. There are a lot of people that aren't willing to put forth that effort. They may buy a guitar, learn a few chords maybe even a song for a couple weeks then set it in the closet for years. When it's time to clean it out, they try to flip their junk at a pawn shop or on craigslist for a couple extra bucks.

From where I sit - on my couch - I would buy that guitar based upon looks alone. The color sets it apart. I have 1 of almost every cheap guitar made in recent history. They all look identical. Sunburst finish. All these cheap beginner guitars are terrific. They all need some finishing - frets spot leveled, fret sprout filed, truss rod adjust, etc. That's why they're cheap. They have HUGE potential. You have proven that. You play those same songs thru same amp with a Fender strat expensive, we would NOT hear ANY DIFFERENCE!! Throw that amp that came with it away though.
Good video. I got a call recently asking about this package for a raw beginner. The person actually got it at a deep discount at a brick and morter location so I was like ya, for under $65 I don't see how it could be a terrible gamble. (They had a coupon for $50 off their purchase that day somehow). I offered to check the action and intonation for them free, so maybe this kid will have a good experience!

I've just found your channel, and I'm so happy. I'm a lyricist and vocalist, been in several successful bands, but never learned to play guitar. Although I understand chord structure and progression, because I've played bass upon occasion through necessity. You have inspired me to buy a starter kit and learn; as band members tend to be fickle at best. Bless you
Ok, it's currently on a deal for 85€ (105$) and it's convincing enough, I'll buy it, the amp seems to not being fitted for metal but it's somewhat ok on less saturated song. 85€ for a practice guitar and some extra cash for a decent amp might seems like a good jump into my electric guitar journey! Especially when secondhands guitars from the very same category are selled sometimes pricer than that in my area. Thanks for the complete and detailled reviews!
It's nice to see so many affordable instruments in the market. Personally I sold my Fender Jaguar a while back when I had to migrate from Venezuela and bought a Harley Benton telestyle a few months ago and I was so impressed! Was it as good as the Fender? No. Did it feel like a 160 euro guitar? Hell no, it played amazing and sounded pretty damn good. I sold it now to step up again.
Pretty cool. I wish more starter guitars came with black hardware instead of the cheaper chrome hardware you get on most of these guitars. That was a nice touch. Really cool that you reviewed the little amp too. Thumb up on this vid towards your suit of armor, my friend.
Investigative beginner here with questions. 1) Being a 25" guitar is that an issue as I'm seeing similar guitars being 39" in length? 2) Having 22 frets, does that impact learning as I'm seeing similar guitars having 24 frets? 3) Should I just start with a 39" / 24 fret now?
Omg at first I thought what a deal! This set sounds great! Then I realized you've plugged that guitar into a high end amp. Nevertheless, the set seems like a good choice for beginners.
I still use a $99 bass guitar I bought 25 years ago for recording. When I was young, long! time ago my first guitar was a Stella that you couldn't play two chords in tune , my next guitar was the third Guild Starfire with a Bigsby , As lot of guitar for a 8 year old😁 good review
Please review a peavey rockmaster, they cost 100dollars on reverb, and come in multiple awesome finishes (the one I played was a walking dead one.) Sadly all I have is a very cheap starter guitar, but for the price, that guitar was fantastic. (The one I played belonged to a friend of mine.)
I'd reccomend saving up a little more and get yourself a used guitar for 150-200$. You can find a used 500$guitar in perfect condition for 200-300 dollars. You really cant go wrong with it. If you're a metal player I reccomend getting an Ibanez gio or a Jackson dinky. You also can get a epiphone special ii and a squire strat or even a tele for 170$. they're not lets say a custom psr 24. but they'll get you a good sound. even I (a player for 6 years) still use my ibanez, jackson and my epiphone👍 good luck with your journey on finding your new guitar!
@@donovenvarner I'm not on the search for a new guitar, I'm satisfied with what I have, I don't intend on playing many live shows, I'm more looking for recording gear, pedals etc. More to get my sound to the world than playing live, I more want to record the guitar I have now than anything.
@@guitar4254 oh great!👍🤙 there are tons of ways getting your music heard. You can use social platforms such as youtube Instagram Facebook etc. You can also create a creators account on spotify (I believe it's a separate app) and similarly you can use sound cloud. There is also streaming platforms such as podcasts. Tik tok has been a great outlet for artists to write short songs and even do parts of covers. As for gear that varies for person to person. (Depending on what genre you plan on playing and what kind of music you're into) I play nu metal, alt metal, death metal, alternative, and country. But if you're let's say a jazz artist you don't really want a distortion pedal with your stuff.😂 I personally like to just mic up my amps. but if you're someone familiar with audio tech I reccomend using a pc to record your artwork. There is so many amps, rig systems, and pedals it's kind of your own thing to figure out. I reccomend going to your local guitar shop and ask them about what kind of pedals. You can find a proper microphone to mix your amp up super easily. Which is definitely the easiest way to record your stuff(imo) because then you can just add a drum track in the background. So long as you have an amp that doesn't sound like a kid humming into a plastic cup and a proper microphone setup you will be fine🤙👍

one of very few reviewers who actually uses the starter amp the guitar came with, which is great. The other guitar channels always put their budget guitars through equipment that is 5,000 dollars of worth!!!
I think this a great choice- I'm sorry, probably the best choice for a new guitarist. You've got everything you need to get started and you don't have a lot of money into it. The main faults you will notice are the starter Amp as well as the stock pickups, both of which are easy fixes. If you take some time to play this thing and start building some skill and want something better without having the deep pockets for a new guitar or even getting this one upgraded, I highly recommend trying your hand at purchasing and installing pickups yourself. It's the first thing I ever attempted and successfully modded myself on my first guitar, a squier affinity series strat and it makes a world's difference. Nothing too expensive unless you really want those Seymour Duncan JBs, nobody's gonna stop you.
Love how companies are pumping out lower end affordable guitars to get people who want to play something that isn't gonna break the bank. Although, my issue is the fact that it seems like bass players are always left behind in this department. Are there any affordable bass guitars/kits out there for someone who wants to learn bass?
This was such a good video, Max, you have a great way way of encouraging people to play, even if what they can afford to play is an inexpensive guitar. Why invest more until you're even sure you'll continue. When I was young, in the mid 80's, a friend bought a high end Jackson Guitar, a Mesa Boogie Amp, gear, Pedals, etc., a small fortune at the time...he was a beginner, like me. I had a guitar from a garage sale. I'm still playing. He isn't. In the end , all his stuff ended up at a pawn shop. My point? Don't commit your money until you commit your time to learn, and have some breakthroughs, and then gradually move up according to your skill if you want. Years ago, I read an interview with Tony Carey (Planet P Project), where he was asked about the guitar he used to get his awesome sound...he claimed his studio guitars were all cheap $100 guitars.
I bought this same guitar package. I'm not a set-up guy. So I took it to a local guitar store. To get a set up and new strings. They called me a few days later. Saying they noticed the frets was popping up. And needed to be reset. Other than that everything else was fine. So I said go ahead and do it. So they removed the frets. Cleaned the slots and replaced them. With a little tight bond superglue. Then leveled and polished them. Then did setup and intonation. With Daddario xl medium gauge strings. And it turned out great. The tech said the pickups was semi ok. And said if I was going to upgrade. That's where he would start. Guitar package was $129.00 . Setup & Intonation $51.00. Strings $8.99. Resetting the frets level & polish $25.00. So not too bad. I may have them install some new pickups. Maybe some Fender vintage noiseless. I donated the Amp at good will. My Fender champion 100 way better. Also this was another great review. As always. It convinced me to buy it. I got the 3 color sunburst model.
I got a starter kit in 2019 from Walmart for my birthday it was a strat copy by copy I mean the headstock looks like a fender the amp that it came with was a 20 watt amp I still play it I put a black bridge on it a couple weeks ago
Looks nice like the colour I bought a starter amp I threw away in the skip electrical bit was shite then I bought a ibanez amp which I still got and love all these years later
I own a few of these budget guitars (by choice, not necessity) --- usually Harley Benton and Firefly. The FIRST thing I do is take off the unknown age and gauge factory strings and install NEW strings of my own personally preferred string gauges. See how it plays, and if no emergency surgery is needed, just put it aside for a few days to let the wood acclimate itself to my local climate. Only then do I check for trussrod adjustment, action height, and all that other good stuff. On the plus side, generally they turn out to be just fine!! They are not going to replace my genuine Gibsons (my favorite brand), but I can't afford 20 real Gibsons either! My older more expensive guitars are being gradually retired into the "inheritance for my kids" category. 😋 FWIW, my very first starter guitar was the old Silvertone/Danelectro single lipstick pickup amp-in-the case deal. I STILL have one almost 60 years later. Simple can be good. 😍
finally someone who used the amp it came with to do the proper review, unlike these people who buy $100 guitars then some $5,000 amp
They do that to show that its not the guitar being bad quality sounding. Well they said that but they could've done both.

Thank you for the only real review I could find. Also appreciate your ASKING us to CONSIDER subscribing...courtesy goes a long way. But I suppose a knight would know all about the refined and chivalrous virtues, already!
Now for an important question: Max, does the guitar sound good or does it sound good because you are the one playing it?
Finally someone to defeat the worst kind of snobs - guitar snobs! Well done! Great video!
I think it’s really cool that you went with the Lord Lord Farquhar look in this video! My son loves it.
Bless you
LOL - These unboxing videos Max does cracks me up every single time! :) :) :)
I think it's super-cool that you cover the more affordable options.. for the humble, among us
Amazing review I just got gifted this and it’s truly so nice for my first electric guitar thanks for the wonderful vid
“ This tape is no match... for the edge of my blade”
Sounds amazingly good for a low-budget guitar. Thank you for the video on these low-budget guitars Mister Max they are appreciated.
Omg at first I thought what a deal! This set sounds great! Then I realized you've plugged that guitar into a high end amp. Nevertheless, the set seems like a good choice for beginners.
MAX RULES!!!!
Truthfully, decent setup & strings you're in business. Down the line throw in a set of pickups from Ebay. Good learning exp.
He can make anything sound good, this video is pure proof!
i have a best choice from amazon i got for $60 and it works pretty nicely i have no complaints
I gotta say kids get better stuff than when I was young. Way way back in my day you had to buy used at pawn shops. Now used guitars are too much
Don't forget they had high action because they were all garbage guitars.
So true! Even the Squier bullet sounds and is way cheaper now! And they are twice the price
This guitar looks incredible
Please review a peavey rockmaster, they cost 100dollars on reverb, and come in multiple awesome finishes (the one I played was a walking dead one.) Sadly all I have is a very cheap starter guitar, but for the price, that guitar was fantastic.
(The one I played belonged to a friend of mine.)
Man, I just can’t support peavy as a company. They’re absolutely horrible to their employees and straight up lied to them.
@@daltonkinsella3384 I'm sorry to hear this, I never heard of this happening, but if it's true it's awful. Honestly, I really there products.
I forgot I was watching in double speed. When he started shredding my jaw dropped. It would normally anyhow. But on double speed I thought this guy might be a god
Bro you're funny, I like you're trying to play some blues, you're getting better! Love the knot in that guitar too.
Proof that even firewood with strings on it sounds fantastic in the hands of a Master Player!!
I really appreciate you showing different styles of music 😁
Fun to watch how you released the anger of your Sheffield Steel blade to destroy the adhesion of the invisible seal. A true knight of the realm! Thanks for the review.
I honestly might buy one of these. I've already had an acoustic guitar for 2 years and im looking to buy an electric. I love how gritty the amp sounds. Thanks for the review!
love this vid always was into guitars just never had money for one
Just made a EVH replica with one of these. Fun project on a budget
I'm getting one never played before but I'm going to try thanks for the honest review and I did subscribe and I'll continue to watch your videos
I was surprised by the clean tone on the amp. It was not intolerable, which was surprising.
This guy can make a yielding blade sound good. You do great reviews on affordable gear. Win Win.
he has a computer program he runs the amp through, you will not get the same sound out of that guitar and amp . maxx is a fraud
I found your video while showing my boys the differs styles, and I just bought by first guitar, and will be learning, but your review showed us the perfect starter kit for a 11 year old
one of very few reviewers who actually uses the starter amp the guitar came with, which is great. The other guitar channels always put their budget guitars through equipment that is 5,000 dollars of worth!!!
The amp isn't something I would recommend going on tour with. Lmao
I raffled off a guitar similar to this from BCP at a concert once. Signed. The winner was extremely pleased with it.
I dont even like heavy metal or any of this music but im here
PLEASE, tell me what type of playing is this, I love it 7:48
That's kind of classic metal. Kind of like Riot, or early power metal bands.
Ohhh okay thank you so much man.
0:19 when the imposter sus
Thank you for your review on this. I have a martin acoustic I’m learning on and want to try electric without breaking the bank. Much appreciation
Voice-overs, Max. You’ve got a voice for it.
Just bought one today. I cant wait for it to arrive.
Guys, can we complain about him wearing armor and using a sword again so we can get another episode with a puppet?
Man I just found your channel I must say I enjoy every video rock on brother🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
have to say...loved the intro....Quest of the Starter pack...lol
Looks nice like the colour
I bought a starter amp I threw away in the skip electrical bit was shite then I bought a ibanez amp which I still got and love all these years later
You are committed to keeping eyes at all costs, and I Love it! Never be normal here, keep up the amazing reviews! 🙌🏾🙏🏾
Max conquering the guitar world one box at a time.
😋
FWIW, my very first starter guitar was the old Silvertone/Danelectro single lipstick pickup amp-in-the case deal. I STILL have one almost 60 years later.
Simple can be good. 😍
I actually almost never smash the like button, but as it's for a good cause - full body armour - there you go! Keep up the good work (Y)
Coin of the realm. 😄
i chuckled at that too! LMAO

Tell us more this adventure. lol

Reminds me of my first guitar with the bundle. It was a les paul copy with a amp
