- This is the Grand Carousel at King's Island north of Cincinnati, OH, USA. It is a PTC #79 and was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan & Co (PTC) and installed at Coney Island in Cincinnati in 1926. It operated there until the park moved to it's current location in 1971.There are 28 jumping horses, 20 Standing horses, and 2 Chariots, all of which are carved from wood. There is a 1926 WurliTzer 157 band organ that is not operating. There are 4 PTC signature horses that are marked with a shield with PTC lettering on the outer shoulder of the animal.
Wow the Organ very strong! 💪
The carousel 🎠 at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is fantastic, I hope you get chance to ride it
Chazz anf it is a rare one as well. Blackpool has one of only three remaining Derby Racer carousels with the other two being at Rye Playland in New York and at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. They are larger, faster, and have the ability for the horses to move forward and backward as well as jumping. Here’s my off ride video of Cedar Point’s Derby Racer. ua-cam.com/video/JE8vfVPvg8g/v-deo.html

Nice video! Bill (my grandfather) painted these horses and chariots by hand. He painted the horses when they were received at Coney Island then transferred to Kings Island...where he took care of them for many years until he retired. I hope they remain the same way he left them. I know this is a longshot, but would you happen to know any information on how to contact individuals who know about this specific carousel? Please message me if so. Thank you for documenting this art!
Thanks for the comment and I am glad you enjoyed the video as it is a beautiful carousel and well maintained when I rode it. The only thing I can recommend is to get in touch with someone from the National Carousel Association and they might be able to point you in the right direction. m.carousels.org
