the fact that the ninjas specialize in flipping opponent's monsters face-down, like putting them to sleep, and then get in with direct attacks, stealthily bypassing the sleeping monsters altogether, is so fucking cool. ninjas are a flavor win 1000%
Oh god that last game... the Ninjutsu Art of Bricking is real. Got that kind of hand a bit too much and unfortunately the deck does need at least two cards to do anything
Ninja feels so weird coming off of tear 0s 14 interactions cause, barring any hand traps you find, your interactions are essentially just new chain targeting banish, monster negate, book of moon. It doesn’t seem like a lot but is enough surprisingly often.
I’d like to shoutout the transformation arts as good side options that allow you to cheat out cards like Dark Simorgh, scary moth, amorphage goliath, and koaki meiru dragon
I love how the deck now actually feels like ninjas. Different tricks and complicated preparations to get around the enemy game plan and defenses, just to go for an otk that avoids confrontation with enemy monsters but assassination of their player.
i agree, i think whats also great is the old support kind of works with loads of em being old flip monsters so you could play them with the new card(not saying you would) and be able to do things with that which makes the archetype even more interesting.
Definitely seems like the Ninjas have some fight this format and are a pretty solid Rogue threat. I have to agree with MBT though, this deck does look like it would be tough to pilot because the combo lines have a lot of moving parts and the matchup spread is kinda wonky. As we saw, the Ninjas took Kashtira to the cleaners and kind of went even with Live Twin/Spright for a bit before that brick of a game 3.
WHAT? WHO EDITED THIS?! YOU CANT JUST NOSTALGIA NUKE ME WITH THE ASK A NINJA GUY 1:13 OMG. Welp, now my nostalgia is activated. I was gonna go to sleep, but now Im going to watch ask a ninja vids after this.
at least its good to know that in the same world where konami though it was a good idea to make an archetype all about ojama king they also found a way to make a unique, good and interesting flip archetype that isn't just guru control 2 now with extra floodgates
The reason I've never picked up Ninja before now is because I legitimately cannot tell what's supposed to be in archetype with half of them. They've had so many waves and they've been in the game so long and so many things are incidentally Ninjas it's hard to parse what's actually supposed to be here.
just like bw, all the new stuff only cause old is outdated,... since they didnt build on previous support, and said it how many times we can abuse hanzo, its good. But this is the only way to make a old deck good rn, replacing the whole archtype.
Absolutely love ninjas! My favorite part of the play style is the ninjitsu art transformation cards to use amorphage cards and lock em out the extra deck for a bit!
Seeing this, I'm reminded of the fact that the Ninja cards used in that one filler episode of the anime revolving around Mai Valentine's lovelife were in the running to be printed in the TCG a few years ago, having lost the competition to Fossil Fusion and Sunavalon. It makes me wonder how the deck might have been different if those cards had been released and not these ones. 🤔
if you go first vs lab or are able to break their board post side it could be worth bringing in OG transformation and dark simorgh potentially to blow them out. I've also seen super transformation for koaki meiru drago in the despia matchup. Seems like a neat avenue to explore for this deck going forward
It's honestly very slept on. Great for the grind game. I have no idea why they decided to print another field spell when Hidden Village was right there
Re: labyrinth you can side deck art of transformation + dark simorgh to completely blank that match-up as well as the typical goong second cards. Koaki Meiru draco is also good because it locks them out of their labyrinth monsters
It's funny how old ass cards like Hanso can come back into being relevant because of evergreen effects instead of becoming garnets because retroactive support forces you to play them. He is the flagship of the archetype that had like 4 or 5 different sets of different gimmick ninjas, he just ties them all together like some sort of "Man of the Air"
At the peak of its power the core for Ishizu Tear was one of the cheapest top decks in a long while. The most expensive card was perlareino and that card was about 35usd a copy, and everything else was under 10 bucks a copy, most things being much cheaper. As always the pricey stuff was dependent on how hard you went on staples. This argument does not work for that format.
@@MBTYuGiOh sorry strimmer, I’m only allowed to dislike your opinion. I will absolutely ignore that one is higher in skill cap than the other in favor of chatting. Need more karma
I dueled on Nexus against SwordSoul and LiveSpright and may I say it was glorious to continually swarm the field with ninjas up the wazoo. The new field spell is cracked. One game against swordsoul I got Nibiru and even after I got the damn nibiru I still had enough recovery to attack over for the last remaining 3500. They have potential and match ups depend. I use to run Ash blossom but changed the triple ash for an additional Jioh, Twilight (double monster reborn), and upstart. I kept my x3 Nibiru in the deck. It runs slightly better with better recoveries. I run 2 book of moons instead of eclipse since Jioh is a walking double book that’s permanent. For draw power I use ninjitsu art of notebook at x1. It’s recovery is decent. The deck is fun and a good change of pace. Heck I even run “and the band played on”. Only because all the ninjas for the most part will always be different levels. The only 4* will be Hanzo, Upstart, and Kagero. Which usually I try not to keep them on the field at the same time.
why do i feel like ninjas can be teched in other decks, they have a bunch of different types and attributes, the equip spell makes anything equiped to it count as a "ninja", like tech in an a adventurer engine, use the equip to make it ninja, use the card to split it into other ninjas, etc. it really feels like its suppose to be slapped together with other stuffs and adding isolde to search it for example, using ways to take control of your opponents cards, equiping them then using the spell to split em into other ninjas to get rid of that monster and go into your own plays. it seems like this deck is very versatile in various ways.
So I know why people use eclipse over swords of concealing but I still prefer the slow spell over the let my opponent draw. But hey to each there own nice list I love that Jessie kotton took this to a YCS
I cheesed the Xyz Festival using a variant of the YCS-winning Ninja deck that replaced Dark Simorgh (since Anti-Spell was banned) with Amorphage Sloth. Can't believe Konami never banned that card in MD even though Super-Transformation can easily cheat it out lmao
I think playing Upstart Golden Ninja with power traps like Evenly and Weightbridge is way better imo. Gives you more access to Hanzo as well as good going second cards.
Quick question. Would upstart golden ninja be a good addition for consistency? Since he can SS a ninja from deck to field, like a Hanzo. It does cost a trap card, but hey it's a play!
You probably should be playing Blade Armor Ninja because Meizan let’s you swing directly and you can OTK pretty easily with it, barring any major disruption.
What website is that in the background? Is that a website or something else? It looks cool. Also what game are you doing the testing on?. Also why does masterduel release only like 10 percent of the ninja archetype. Why don’t they just release all of it
the fact that the ninjas specialize in flipping opponent's monsters face-down, like putting them to sleep, and then get in with direct attacks, stealthily bypassing the sleeping monsters altogether, is so fucking cool. ninjas are a flavor win 1000%
THEY ARE SNEAKING PAST THE GUARDS TO ASSASSINATE THE DAIMYO (PLAYER)
You're goddamn right.
Nobody even knew Ninja support was being printed, either.
Somehow this means they have a feud with superheavy samurai. I wonder if this is lore-related?
@Bug Catcher Timothy no.
They're lore is with Shien/Six Sam and Karakuri
There's an insect fusion that Jesse kotton played in his list that's pretty good
ultimate great insect?
It's only good if your opponent cant read, so great for locals.

So a great yugioh card overall
@@tickledeggz It's a monster zone board wipe you can just toss out whenever in a deck that has like 9 free extra deck spaces. It's not too bad.

it’s a lot of book of moons to be fair
Jio is Floodgate Trap Hole.
And that does seem like a lot.

They're also permanent book of moon, so anything that's flipped down is useless unless it's a fusion material or tribute fodder.

The windshield wiper syncing with the head tilt to give it a "vine boom" effect was genius.
The hidden village field spell is essential to fix the resource management problem you mentioned
PHHY really turned out to be one of the best sets of the year with the amount of support for different decks it came with
