I am still trying to make sense of Season six. It's like they tried to introduce more characters, bring closure to the known characters, and make it about Jacob, and the Man in Black. It was the final season, and they had to wrap it up somehow.

The first 3 seasons were great season 4 was heh but seasons 5 &6 dear Lord were they bad.... It made me so mad the the just went downhill because their were so many unanswered questions. There was much more they could have done.
I never like Jack and Kate hooking up and I watched this series from Day 1. Her and Sawyer were wayyyyyyy more compatible and had way better chemistry.

William King I completely disagree that it was purely lust between Sawyer and Kate. Just because they had chemistry, you can't choose to ignore everything that happened between them. They risked their lives for each other so many times. Kate definitely loved Sawyer. But I agree that her love for him was different than that for Jack. Like you said, she had so much admiration for Jack. He was what she wanted to be: good and heroic. Sawyer, on the other hand, was her "other half". They were very similar and that's why they seemed to get along from the very beginning, even when everyone hated Sawyer.

William King No worries, I'm sorry too for making assumptions. I'm rewatching the series for the 1st time after their original run, and I'm exactly on the episode of this scene. I find that there's great love and bond amongst all three of these characters. Jack and Sawyer come to respect and care for each other too. Just the other episode, Sawyer called Jack "just about the only real friend he's ever had".

The subtext being, this is Kate&Sawyer's wedding night. "For better or worse, from this day forward", they have made a commitment and they will be together in the end. The title of the episode is "I Do" and it refers not only to Kate's short-lived marriage built on LIES (just like her relationship with Jack in the future), it refers to the fact that Kate has finally stopped running and has made a commitment to Sawyer. Even if she doesn't know it! And HE doesn't know it. But the subtext is clear. And they really drive it home when Jack tells her to run and she RUNS! Taking Sawyer with her and leaving Jack behind! She REFUSED to run when Sawyer told her to do it and leave HIM behind.

"The Substitute" is a great example of triple meanings to the title. It's not just about Ben Linus, the substitute teacher. It's also about substituting Locke's "essence" for the man in black's. And Sawyer substituting Kate with Juliet. And all the allusions "fake Locke" makes to that. "this isn't your house, James, this was never your house. You just lived here for awhile." To drive it home, Richard comes out and tells Sawyer that Locke is gonna kill "everybody you care about". Well, we know what he really means by that is KATE. Because in the first episode of Season 5 Sawyer said "''everybody I care about' just blew up on that dam boat!" and it could not have been more obvious that who he was really talking about was Kate. LOST is tricky and a lot of the story is "between the lines" and "subtextual".

I wasn't visiting for a while skate sides, but when I reread the comments, nothing changed to the better.And in that scene you mentioned, sawyer is talking about mice and men, telling Locke about the two guys in the book- comparing and meaning him and locke. So he let mib locke know, that he isn't easy to fool .So we found a lot of hints in literature, other movies etc. It's really demanding work.
@@verenamenzel4701 disagreement is one thing .. outright refusal to see any and all subtext in LOST is another. It's obviously there. It can be interpreted in many ways, it's true. And I think Darlton purposely did it this way. If you want to interpret it as "Jate and Suliet FTW" you can. There's plenty of evidence for it in "The End". But if you want to interpret it as "Skate FTW" you can do that too because "The End" had evidence for them as well. It's not our problem if some refuse to see it.

And he manipulated the situation to "sweeten the pot", by putting a fake pacemaker in Sawyer and bringing Kate pants to change into. Not only to watch Sawyer trying to keep his heart rate down, but also to see if Kate would escape now that she could easily climb out of the cage. She did escape, but went right back in when Sawyer refused to come with her. This was entertainment for Ben, to see how far he could push them, how strong were their feelings, and how could he manipulate that to his advantage.

I'm pretty sure they were the original intended end game but Sawyer/Juliet had so many fans the writers changed things. Sawyer/Kate definitely were better suited for each other and had more love for each other then the ones they ended up with.

At the end she realized it was Rhett she loved all along, but it was too late. Or was it? ;) In the sequel, "Scarlett", Rhett and Scarlett ended up together.

Because Sawyer loved her with all his being, because after Juliet died, I've never seen Sawyer more destroyed. Because Josh Holloway's acting after her death was his best acting and I could not help but cry everytime I saw his tears and sad face. If Suliet never happened, I'd take Skate over Jate anyday tho. Black Canary No, not offensive at all and sorry for calling Suliet 'swill'....everyone is entitled to ship whatever appeals to them :) People ship a couple based on how that couple makes them feel. It's all subjective. It's an emotional response that can't be changed and your points about Suliet are all very valid ones. Though It doesn't change the fact that I'll always be a hardcore Skater & that Suliet will always be one of my biggest NOTPs. To me, Suliet felt random & forced, was slapped together in one episode & their 'union' did nothing to null and void the previous 4 & 1/2 seasons of buildup, chemistry & character growth that occurred between Kate & Sawyer, at least in my eyes. I think Damon Lindeloff was so hellbent on a Jate endgame that it wouldn't have mattered to him whether 100% of the audience shipped Skate or whether Suliet was so popular with the audience. Kate & Sawyer were never going to be endgame under any circumstances. I wish I had fallen in love with Suliet too, then I wouldn't have had to suffer through such an emotionally devastating endgame in which a pairing that was planned from the very start and was such a huge part of the story received absolutely no closure or any recognition at all in the finale. I've learned that getting endgame, although nice, doesn't always mean a couple was better or not, it just means they were endgame. Many a great couple were not endgame imo and for me that includes Skate :)

And you know what, although we never got to see what happened after Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Miles, Richard and Lapidus left the island, you can pretend that when they arrived home, at some point in their life, Kate and Sawyer gave it another try.
Black Canary lol...I know a lot of SKaters who do that but being that there was that whole afterlife storyline where we know Kate is with Jack & Sawyer is with Juliet, I just can't. I know they weren't together again but I do think they stayed friends for the rest of their lives being that Kate & Cassidy were good friends and Sawyer's daughter referred to Kate as her aunt. I'd like to think Sawyer became a good father to Clementine and made up for the wrong he had done to Cassidy and do believe Sawyer & Kate always had a bond for the rest of their lives. Even though he loved Juliet, I loved the scene in season 6 when he tells Kate 'You & me are getting the hell off this island"....it showed he still cared enough about Kate that any plan he had to get out of there included her! He wouldn't have left without her, so at least the writers gave us that much in the finale lol...They did film a church 'hug scene' between the two but cut it out because they didn't want there to be any ambiguity about the endgames. So I guess in some ways we did get some closure :) For some of my other non endgame OTPs, like Rory/Jess or Jackie/Hyde, yeah in those cases I definitely just pretend that they eventually ended up together so I can keep sane LOL
WOW, Kate and Sawyer are the most MADLY IN LOVE TV couple I have ever seen! How can anyone think either of them were ever truly in love with anyone else? Sawyer even SAID he'd never been in love before Kate. Kate "loved" others, but, as we saw in this very episode, "I Do", she was pretending with Kevin and she was pretending with Jack. The only man she could be her authentic self with was Sawyer. I'm so happy they got off the island to live their long lives together!

She said in the comment, that she felt herself secure with josh, he was a snuggly teddybear ( I'm not sure, if that is the right translation). Besides that she wore a transparent or skin coloured bra, you can see a part of stretch. They were very carefully with nude scenes.

I loved both Sawyer and Kate together and separately but Kate and Jack were meant to be together. from the start. That's why she was always shy and behaved differently with him. They always fit. Sawyer was for her a source of passion and a good friend who understood her, in fact they are quite similar and therefore never true fitted. Kate saw Jack features that were completely reversed and together they were like a magnet. I do not understand at all how to think otherwise. you can See from the beginning that they end game.

I know this is a year late. Only in the flash sideways of season 6. Everything, besides the flash sideways, happened in real life. This confusion popped up because their was a running fan theory all the way from Season 1 that the characters were dead the whole time. That's where the confusion came in.
Well, two criminals should've definitely ended up together. That's strange they decided to keep them apart later. But... For some reasons, I don't believe that this was love between them. It looks like they decided to have sex because it's been a long time on the island and they haven't had it for a long time (at least, it's hard for a womanizer like Sawyer to live without sex so long)
This "love" scene pisses me off. I feel really sad for Jack. Two women cheat on him and have sex with other guys. And eventually he loses Juliet to Sawyer. Why? What did he do to deserve all that pain?
Well, if it helps, Jack and Juliet never really cared for each other intensely like that, so I doubt it hurt him at all that Juliet ended up with Sawyer. If anything, it hurt Kate more. And during this scene, tensions are high and no promises have been made between Jack and Kate. It's all just emotional subtext. So even though he loved her here, she didn't owe him fidelity. And this scene was the pinnacle of sawyer and Kate's intense yet shortlived love story. It was all downhill from here.:(

Because in the first episode of Season 5 Sawyer said "''everybody I care about' just blew up on that dam boat!" and it could not have been more obvious that who he was really talking about was Kate. LOST is tricky and a lot of the story is "between the lines" and "subtextual".

I wasn't visiting for a while skate sides, but when I reread the comments, nothing changed to the better.And in that scene you mentioned, sawyer is talking about mice and men, telling Locke about the two guys in the book- comparing and meaning him and locke. So he let mib locke know, that he isn't easy to fool .So we found a lot of hints in literature, other movies etc. It's really demanding work.
@@verenamenzel4701 disagreement is one thing .. outright refusal to see any and all subtext in LOST is another. It's obviously there. It can be interpreted in many ways, it's true. And I think Darlton purposely did it this way. If you want to interpret it as "Jate and Suliet FTW" you can. There's plenty of evidence for it in "The End". But if you want to interpret it as "Skate FTW" you can do that too because "The End" had evidence for them as well. It's not our problem if some refuse to see it.

She did escape, but went right back in when Sawyer refused to come with her. This was entertainment for Ben, to see how far he could push them, how strong were their feelings, and how could he manipulate that to his advantage.

Because Sawyer loved her with all his being, because after Juliet died, I've never seen Sawyer more destroyed. It's all subjective. It's an emotional response that can't be changed and your points about Suliet are all very valid ones. Though It doesn't change the fact that I'll always be a hardcore Skater & that Suliet will always be one of my biggest NOTPs. To me, Suliet felt random & forced, was slapped together in one episode & their 'union' did nothing to null and void the previous 4 & 1/2 seasons of buildup, chemistry & character growth that occurred between Kate & Sawyer, at least in my eyes. I think Damon Lindeloff was so hellbent on a Jate endgame that it wouldn't have mattered to him whether 100% of the audience shipped Skate or whether Suliet was so popular with the audience. Kate & Sawyer were never going to be endgame under any circumstances. I wish I had fallen in love with Suliet too, then I wouldn't have had to suffer through such an emotionally devastating endgame in which a pairing that was planned from the very start and was such a huge part of the story received absolutely no closure or any recognition at all in the finale. I've learned that getting endgame, although nice, doesn't always mean a couple was better or not, it just means they were endgame. Many a great couple were not endgame imo and for me that includes Skate :)

And you know what, although we never got to see what happened after Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Miles, Richard and Lapidus left the island, you can pretend that when they arrived home, at some point in their life, Kate and Sawyer gave it another try.
Black Canary lol...I know a lot of SKaters who do that but being that there was that whole afterlife storyline where we know Kate is with Jack & Sawyer is with Juliet, I just can't. I know they weren't together again but I do think they stayed friends for the rest of their lives being that Kate & Cassidy were good friends and Sawyer's daughter referred to Kate as her aunt. I'd like to think Sawyer became a good father to Clementine and made up for the wrong he had done to Cassidy and do believe Sawyer & Kate always had a bond for the rest of their lives. Even though he loved Juliet, I loved the scene in season 6 when he tells Kate 'You & me are getting the hell off this island"....it showed he still cared enough about Kate that any plan he had to get out of there included her! He wouldn't have left without her, so at least the writers gave us that much in the finale lol...They did film a church 'hug scene' between the two but cut it out because they didn't want there to be any ambiguity about the endgames. So I guess in some ways we did get some closure :) For some of my other non endgame OTPs, like Rory/Jess or Jackie/Hyde, yeah in those cases I definitely just pretend that they eventually ended up together so I can keep sane LOL

WOW, Kate and Sawyer are the most MADLY IN LOVE TV couple I have ever seen! How can anyone think either of them were ever truly in love with anyone else? Sawyer even SAID he'd never been in love before Kate. Kate "loved" others, but, as we saw in this very episode, "I Do", she was pretending with Kevin and she was pretending with Jack. The only man she could be her authentic self with was Sawyer. I'm so happy they got off the island to live their long lives together!

She said in the comment, that she felt herself secure with josh, he was a snuggly teddybear ( I'm not sure, if that is the right translation). Besides that she wore a transparent or skin coloured bra, you can see a part of stretch. They were very carefully with nude scenes.

I loved both Sawyer and Kate together and separately but Kate and Jack were meant to be together. from the start. That's why she was always shy and behaved differently with him. They always fit. Sawyer was for her a source of passion and a good friend who understood her, in fact they are quite similar and therefore never true fitted. Kate saw Jack features that were completely reversed and together they were like a magnet. I do not understand at all how to think otherwise. you can See from the beginning that they end game.

I know this is a year late. Only in the flash sideways of season 6. Everything, besides the flash sideways, happened in real life. This confusion popped up because their was a running fan theory all the way from Season 1 that the characters were dead the whole time. That's where the confusion came in.

This "love" scene pisses me off. I feel really sad for Jack. Two women cheat on him and have sex with other guys. And eventually he loses Juliet to Sawyer. Why? What did he do to deserve all that pain?
Well, if it helps, Jack and Juliet never really cared for each other intensely like that, so I doubt it hurt him at all that Juliet ended up with Sawyer. If anything, it hurt Kate more. And during this scene, tensions are high and no promises have been made between Jack and Kate. It's all just emotional subtext. So even though he loved her here, she didn't owe him fidelity. And this scene was the pinnacle of sawyer and Kate's intense yet shortlived love story. It was all downhill from here.:(
