Resident Evil didn't wanna be Resident Evil anymore, so they made this instead. RE4 was just about the worst thing to happen to horror games. Otherwise, an all-time classic.
Game may have been good under another title but it ruined the franchise. Camera view sucks and takes the whole suspense thing and exploration out of it follow the designated path and you can't lose. It's just gears of war with bugs. Not resident evil.
After playing the remake, I was left wondering, where the hell was the rest of RE4, why is everything that was fun in the original pretty much non existence here?
I've been playing the Original RE4 since 2005 and to this day is still one of my favorite games of all time and one my favorite Resident Evil games ever along with the Original RE3,RE2 and RE1 Remake. Thanks for this video,you earned a sub.

Hey people! The visual jokes are worth making sure you don't have your eyeballs totally occupied during the video. They were extra funny bc the narration seemed so straightforward. Usually I gravitate to video analyses that talk more about themes/story than Tristen does in this, but the editing + narration + sound + attention to certain details charmed me regardless. YT's serving me a lot of small gaming creators lately, & if they are competent + thoughtful like this one, I'm doing my best to signal to YT they should keep it rolling. It's crazy how many good creators are coming up now with small audiences. It'll be interesting to see how this group of new creators develop. RE4 is incredible from a balance, design, flow perspective. As for the bizarre atmosphere, awesome music, sound effects, voices, ridiculous corny dialog and insane plot, well that's the kind of legendary awesomeness that's never going to be repeated.
I've played the original countless times and it's one of my favorites of all time. Playing the remake made me realize how the og would have benefited from some trimming. As It stands, now the 2 games play well off each other.
This take! I’ve seen so many bash the remake, but I tend to look at them as different (albeit still almost the same) games. I think after playing both back to back I can still say that both are fantastic in their own ways

I always feel odd about resi 4... I like it, but I don't love it like everyone else seems to... and I like the remake way less than the original thanks to tonal changes, animation changes and weird censorship (horror based, not the stuff with Ashleigh).

One reason why he just doesn't let them go is because the parasite has not been fully grown . If they did leave immidiatly they could maybe remove the parasite from doctors because they already felt off , therefore ruining Saddlers plan . Why doesn't he kill Leon immidiatly ? Because he wanted to make him his puppet , if he was worthy enough . That's why at the ending where Saddler finds out that Leon is no longer infected , he then decides to kill him .

I noticed some things about Ashleys behavior : After jumping from the church , she asks "What's gonna happen to us" not "What's gonna happen to me " showing that she is also worried about Leon . After Luis asks Leon if Ashleys spoiled or something you can see her getting slightly embarrased , hinting that she has a softside . When they meet Luis for the second time he says that he dropped something and Ashley was the one who directly asked what he dropped . She even voluntered to help him find it . Let me remind you that Ashley can notice danger from behind . While she follows you and turns her head it's hinting "hey there is someone behind you " , like at the cabin she points those ganados out , even at the end she gives Leon a headsup to those waves . So maybe she could have prevented his death . After saying "I'm never turning into one of them , never! " it shows that beeing turned was her biggest fear . About that dumb trap that Ashley landet on . Leon was already heading towards it anyway so if Ashley didn't cough up blood , thinking the parasite is gonna take over , have an panik attack and ran ahead , Leon would have gotten trapped instead . After all he did fall for that platform trap . At the Operating table she asks Leon if he really wants to do this , because after all those traps from the castle , she suspected it was gonna be another deathtrap . While she is getting oparated she holds back from screaming just like Leon , she doesn't want to sound helpless anymore , not some "Aaah Leon I'm i'm so much pain please hold my Hand . " Maybe you will still dislike her but it wouldn't hurt to try you know ?

One hand, it sucks that they jettison the setup from Code Veronica at the beginning due to the development hell this game went through resulting in the plot being a standalone story set months after Umbrella collapsed. "For all intents and purposes, Umbrella was finished" is quite the kick in the balls considering that the overarching story was heading somewhere interesting. Other hand? _Like I give a damn._ Of the Gamecube era, Resident Evil 4 is the second best topped only by REmake: It nails a balance between actionising the formula to focus on crowd control and killing Ganados and Las Plagas monsters over solving puzzles (though you do still do a lot of the latter) and retaining the darkness, gothic environments, horrific monster design and creep factor of the original trilogy, Code Veronica, and the first two Gamecube era outings. And because this came out at a time when people looked back on the original version of 1 and noticing the unintentional hilarity therein, I can't help but see that Mikami and the rest of the developers leaned way hard into the humour, because Resident Evil 4 is basically a horror comedy, complete with funny quips and semi-comedic sentient BOWs as the bad guys (namely Ramon). It's no wonder it has endured for so long. Really, the key fault with 4 is Professional difficulty. It's an endurance test in the worst ways possible.

Probably cause Devil May Cry was meant to be RE4 before RE4. But I will admit it does have a lot more actions compared to the first 3 games, which makes it similar to Devil May Cry
Love the game, but it is similar to Final Fantasy X. They are both masterpieces, and their critical and commercial success led to a fork in the path towards a change in the franchise that leads to sequels that feel so different from early installments that they could be a different franchise. Resident Evil 4 is great, but it led to the death of the past, which I loved, and the birth of the games we have now, which I don’t.

Just No. Imagine falling into the pool with 3 different knits on; you'd get pulled under from the weight of the knit fabrics becoming waterlogged. Like, Sis --- c'mon, that rusty red Nordic sweater you're wearing as an accessory around your shoulders all game now weighs thirty pounds. If you don't wanna drown, it's the easiest thing to take off so you stay buoyant. lol it's such a small petty gripe but gets me every time I see it lol.
I think I am alone in disliking this game. The main drawback for me is recurring "horde" gameplay mechanic. It was extremely impactful in the opening moments because it was unexpected and the setting lent itself to it. Afterwards it just feels shoehorned in to the circumstances and lazily used by the devs as an injection of artificial difficulty to punctuate a specific point in the game. Second I really dislike that the human's heads turn into "creatures". For me it is MUCH creepier when they're just humans, once their heads morph into the parasites it totally breaks that creepy feeling of fighting weirdo humans and it just feels like I'm playing any number of generic "space alien/monster" sci-fi games. These two things are what make the game unenjoyable for me. They just swung the pendulum too far to the action end of the spectrum. I prefer slower creepier gameplay which creates that feeling of ever encroaching, unescapable danger that is palpable in all the zombie games and movies prior to the popularization of "sprinting zombies". Just my personal feelings on the game. Would be interesting to hear other's opinions.

This was the worst thing that ever happened to resident evil. Sure the game was probably good but it wasn't. A resident evil title and because it was popular resident evil has been turned into an action game and has been garbage ever since.
