I wish Athearn still made the "Blue Box" cars. Always fun to put together. On your weathering. After you put your powder on, spray it with dulcote to seal it in. That way it won't come off. Love your channel.

Hi Thomas, thank you. Yes my Grandfather built Athearn kits way back in the 40’s and 50’s, I find them so much fun! I had heard of setting the powders with dull coat, but held off to be sure I liked what I had done. I think a refresh is in order and a good dull coat “setting” afterwards! 😁
      Thanks so much for watching!

There is no such thing as having too many boxcars. I'm happy that the new caboose worked out for you. As far as sound features go, I personally worry about having too many sound systems operating all at once. I've heard other modelers state that too many sound systems on and off the rails can be a bit overwhelming on the ears. As for the other used caboose, I'll shoot you an email about a possible project that you could use it for.

Thanks Donnie, got the email. I agree about sound, I’m pretty careful to not run too many of them at the same time. Like I said, I was mostly interested in the outside marker lights on the caboose, but I dig the sounds also! Fun to play with. I also figured out if I increase the throttle while controlling the caboose, it has a neat clickity-clack sound. I’m def looking forward to building that caboose! Thanks for watching Donnie! -Dan 👍🏼

Nice caboose Dan. Most cabooses did have air whistles for backing up just as you figured.

Very cool, Dan! The caboose is awesome! Love the soundcar options. I noticed that the f0 light is Directional, so if you were to address the caboose then throw the throttle into reverse, that light should change to the other end. I also didn't know about the whistle in the cabs.
I always find myself restocking on the BLI seated figures. I will hit you up with a link to a 1964 Plymouth cop car kit.

Thanks Tom, got the link, very cool! I’ll try the reverse throttle for the light. 👍🏼

Is the Inclines on your layout a 4%? and do your locomotives have any problem climbing that? Thank you.

Hi, thanks for watching! I believe the inclines are 4% altogether. My Locos don’t have any problem making the grades with no more than five or six cars. With more than that I usually need to consist them.

Thank you, Dan., and can you tell me the tunnel clearance you have from top of rails to tunnel portal inside. just want to make sure my cars clear going thru tunnels. thanks again. I'm building a new layout to kind of match the grand valley, but eliminating the 60* crossing, which creates another bridge underneath. took your advice from an earlier video.@@DansGrandValley

@@followinghim5194 I have approx 3.25” +/- which is NMRA compliant. Even my Christmas tree cars clear, but just barely. Haha

Thank you for info. I am too going to meet NMRA compliance at 3.25", don't want to limit myself on rolling stock down the line.@@DansGrandValley
