When it hit the market it was the most efficient 4 banger engine ever made. Mine (coupe') had a Janspeed full S/S exhaust on it and I will never forget the sound it made ripping up through the Nordschleife forest at Adenauer pulling 6000 rpm - bliss, pure bliss
