- Yes it is full duplex and yes it will crossband repeat. This radio is an incredible value if you want analog. It outperforms digital radios like the FTM-500r and has all the same features of the legendary FT-8800r but for WAY less money. This radio is very reminiscent of 2000s radios, back when they were solid units.
Definitely would like to see more of this radio.Such as programing by hand and other functions. Thank you for the video.

Just got mine tonight 12-03-24. What I like is how quiet it is, when people release the mic switch you don't have that annoying loud chirp sound. Easy to program and maneuver around the software also. I like the backlit buttons on top that can be seen from a short distance because the buttons face forward, not like the ftm 500 which are hard to see unless your looking from above the face. Also the 150 has only 1 ext speaker connection vrs. 2 the audio for side A and B come out of the same ext. speaker and on the front of the face of the head unit. Some has made remarks about no button backlighting, yes it has button back lighting, it has no lighting around the main volume and channel selector knobs, they are hard to see in low lighting.

My Kenwood TM-D710GA has A and B speakers but I haven’t used both at once. I want to but I never get around to installing another speaker in my car. Seems like a really good idea especially if you put the two speakers on opposite sides of the car.

Interesting. After switching to commercial gear many years ago, I find it annoying because in my mind a repeater should be silent. Enjoy your new radio! I think it's going to be a good one.

Good to know about the crossband repeat feature. I've become spoiled on that which is why I have the 8800. I may bite the bullet and get one of these. 73 de N5NUK.

I am interested in whether you can crossband repeat through the 10 pin cat port at the back for an all-star node. Many new radios don't allow for crossband repeat through the data port. The last radio I know that does it was the yaesu FT-8800.
I like it. Still a lot more expensive than it's competitor, the IC-2730A.
And a pretty basic screen. But I still like it. The reason people are calling it the 150RASP is because their digital signal processing is called ASP. So it's more like a 150R-ASP? Haha. Most likely it was their marketing team that wanted to make sure that people knew there was something special about these, although from what I've seen and heard so far, it doesn't sound very good and can make the voices sound worse at times.

I have recently taken my Yaesu FTM 150R aspe out of my car because of noise from other frequencies bleeding over on the frequency I'm listening to but have found out what the problem was. If you experience noise and frequency jumping on your channels that you have programmed then go into menu go to number 41 and turn off your dual received mod. This was driving me crazy because it sounded just like an AM CB radio channel with bleed over from sideband. 73 K4BWN
I wish Yaesu would backlight the knobs too! Very difficult to see at night in a dark vehicle.

Hey, any word about CAT control with this radio?
If you had a choice of a mint/unused quad band cross band repeat FT-8900 or this new rig, for a similar price which would you go for?
Both rigs have the super DX function (or whatever it’s called).
Not much FM action on 6m/10m but nice to have if you want to x-repeat.
But then this new rig has some modern digital noise reduction.
Stuck between a rock and hard place.
How about showing how the channels look when they have a label, can you see both freq and label at the same time?? Also what kind of memory grouping is there? Are there hyper memories or at least memory groups of some kind? Not just memory groups by band but can you choose which memory channels to put in a given group or bank? Thanks!!
It does show the freq in much smaller font than the memory tag.

The yellow color light seems more comfortable for eyes. Could you open the cover of the radio and show what is inside, please?
I noticed it has 1100 memory channels. I like to use my radios as a scanner, and my Icom 2730 had groups for managing and scanning memories.
Does this radio have any way to manage those memories with groups or banks?
Is there a MARS mod for this available yet?

What's the menu operation like? Is it similar to the menu system of the FT891 or mor like what we saw on the Yaesu radios prior to the FTM 400, like that of the FT7800 and FT7900?
It’s similar to the newer radios. I’m actually kinda confused because it isn’t in alphabetical order like the old Yaesu radios. I can’t make sense of the order at all. They give the option to add menu items to a favorites menu for easy access but that’s an extra step. I used to memorize the menu the way it is. I will probably do the same here.
FTM-150R vs FTM-500R. If you don't care about digital modes. These both have the vehicle install niceties, speaker in the head unit and mic jack on the head unit. Any ease of operation difference between the two? Or other deciding factor between the two besides price difference?
They both use the same locking sliding mount system, the same mic and power extension cables. So if you want to switch radios you can, I have the 500 mounted in my truck so now I can slide the 500 out and slide the 150 in instead. Sweet!
Is there a way to remotely control the radio through DTMF tones like the Kenwood TM-V71a does while in Cross-band/Locked-band Repeat mode?

Nope White/blue is available but orange is better IMO.

@@paulmitchell4421 not sure. I don’t own that radio. And to be frank, I have no interest in unlocking this one. I have plenty of Motorola radios for that purpose. I’ve never been a fan of operating these radios out of the ham band, especially mobiles. I’m not sure how efficient they are outside of their intended home.
