Hey All!
It’s ya boi Oliver, who you probably forgot you were subscribed to for a while! You’re not dreaming, I’ve actually put out new content.
For anyone wondering, I’ve been gone for a long while because art school’s a rigorous thing. I’m trying to make work 1. For my portfolio and 2. To get better at what I do, and a lot of that doesn’t involve fan content. Keeping up an animation youtube channel requires an involved schedule (and monetary compensation for the lost time). This schedule is nothing like what I have now, with work both inside and outside of school.
That being said, I’m glad this project is done! I started it last year and could only do it in short spurts, with month-long-hiatuses, up until today. Some cool facts I'd like to share about this, if you want to know:
- When you work on an animatic over a long period of time, you might look back and realize that you work so much differently now than when you first started. You might want to keep using the same method because you want to keep it consistent. And if you’re a perfectionist and you're me, you'll take 5x longer to make it because of that. That's ok! You'll learn from the experience.
- This is, in fact, not the best example of what an animatic should be. While a lot of animatics nowadays do involve a lot of animation, it is my understanding that they usually do not, and likely shouldn't, include this amount of detail, as they are reference for a final animation. I realized this going in. There is far too much time spent on each frame for this to be an industry work, and it's only meant as purely fan material.
Too finished for an animatic, too unfinished for an animation. Have a weird animation-matic-thingy, folks.

@@zyakko82 Mainly it involved helping kids who needed help with activities and making sure that kids did what they were supposed to(ie: help out with chores around the camp, and not run around after bedtime). It was fun, engaging, and a bit trying at times. 10/10 would do it again.

The whole David being beaten up thing is a pretty common punchline and usually, it is pretty funny and just normal, all the shit that happens. But there are also a lot of genuinely sad moments where it just like, David does not deserve this, and you know that no one else but David would be able to take it AND still stay positive.
There was that one episode that was basically the show's version of the Revenant: David is lost in the woods, injured, and being tailed by a vicious, hungry wolf. The climax seemingly going in the direction that David would kill the wolf once he had her to his knees, only to turn out he healed her while he recuperated and became a tame wolf as a result. The wolf repaid his kindness by defending him against a bear at the cost of her own life.

So many people think David is stupid for putting up with all the campers’ crap each day, but in reality, he’s just trying his best to make them happy. And, if it means going through Hell to do that, then so help him he’ll do just that! Camp Camp is a message to people to not give up hope, and to keep going, no matter what happens! This officially makes David my idol.
Even IF the show has a lot of weird crap in it...

I wonder if David reflects, reminisces. It seems like he doesn't because "dealing with" camp camp seems like it would make someone jaded, right? Well, that's what this song/video is tryna say, he's completely aware but he just cares so damn much that he puts the camp ahead of himself DESPITE everything and anything that happens. Just to see the smile on their faces.
This video is one of my faves that I think about and rewatch because its portrayal of David and his attitude is so perfect and because the song fits his personality so well! And it's also one of my inspirations c: I started brainstorming and actually planning on fan animatic ideas since 2021 and spent the past year and half working on one of them. I probably won't finish it for a long while, but thank you for being a source of inspiration for me

I used to think he was obviously happy, or happy and not realizing all the wrong in the world. But this and Season 3 finale, i realized that i was wrong and now i lov David so much because of all he does for the campers

David is not my favorite character, but after a long time I decided to rewatch this and I have to say that David is a great guy with a great spirit and he deserves everything in the world because he have been through so much and never stepped down.

As an actual Summer Camp Counselor and a big fan of Camp Camp this is the GREATEST THING EVER!!! Trust me when I say that I have never seen such an amazing animatic for Camp Camp and this song fits it sooooo well. I’ve had kids just like that though children kinda stink especially with most parents today! And you showed this soooo well I love watching it and everything I see something new like a funny facial expressions I love it soooo much!!!’

I love how you included the other characters in shots and how pretty much accurate this is. It could literally be an episode of Camp Camp and I would be happy.
