Hi Queen Desta, hope you are having a good time in Bénin, thanks for showing us a little bit of Bénin Cotonou but you have a lot of interesting places you have yet to visit like ouidah, Porto Novo the administrative capital, Abomey where the Amazons came from, parakou in the Northern of Bénin, hope we have more goodies from your Benin trip...take care
Yeah, your right Queen Desta, Bénin is really one of a fast developping countries in west Africa through the leadership of Président Talon the curent president till 2026🇧🇯
Well done. The statue is of Queen Tassie Hangbe....the first Woman King of the Dahomey Kingdom and the founder of the Agojie military regiment. Other Woman Kings in West Africa include Queen Idia of the Benin Kingdom that is now Edo state in Nigeria and Okyenhene Nana Dokua of the Akyem kingdom in present day Ghana. Woman Kings also existed in Angola, Ethiopia, ancient Egypt. In Kenya I believe the closest we get is Mekatili wa Mwenza. Women ruled across Africa for centuries and led armies in battle. The current status quo is very much a legacy of colonialism and something that needs to be reversed ASAP.
It's absolutely gigantic and the place is extremely beautiful. Benin is outdoing itself!
Beautiful I can't wait to visit❤
❤❤❤
