Hello Jim! I really enjoyed this walk-through of your amazing barn! I know that wonderful feeling of finally having a shell constructed so you can work protected from the weather. I'm amazed that you did all of this while the lumber prices are so high. I can't wait to see the upper room! I couldn't even get contractors out to put a slab in so that I can start my "tiny" bee-school building. I'm stalled. I really like that you've rearranged your hives away from one another with entrances facing various directions so you can see the variations. I, along with many others, will be looking forward to your favorable spring report on the bees. Definitely focus on family. Wishing you all the best. At the very end... that's why I have a bag of extra props :) P4Pro+ still going strong :)
Luckily, we did the slab and framing in 2019 so the majority of the materials were purchased in the ‘before’ times. I bought all the siding from a local lumberyard/mill in early 2020 RIGHT before the lumber prices went insane. Then I waited a whole year and a half before buying any wood. I got very lucky with plywood a few weeks ago. Sheets were $80 each last spring, but they bottomed out at 30-35 a few weeks ago. I bought all I needed at 35 each and a week later they were over $50 again. Patience and dodging bullets! There’s no way I’d try to START a project like this right now. But I’m just buying bits of dimensional lumber for the rest of the shop buildout, so it’s not too crazy. And yes, p4pro drone is a beast! I’ve had a few big crashes and she’s still flying with fresh propellers every year! I could use some new landing gear, but it’s all good for now as long as I catch it instead of landing. I see you’re headed to the conference this week. Have fun and stay safe!
I have loved you and your channel for years! You inspired by husband and I to do beekeeping in Maryland for the last three years. We had a rough year last year because of weather in Maryland in 2021 as well. On a more positive note, we added 8 bee colonies to 10 acres we have in Texas in 2019. I asked the county to recommend a “master beekeeper” and they said “Ma’ma it’s Texas - They are called Bee Wranglers 🐝” “So we have had a bee wrangler or wrangle our bees for three years! He’s awesome and we sell our honey locally at Fischer’s in Munster
I've been following the bee thing and I could see how devastated you were when the colonies died. You seem to be a very genuine dude. I'm glad things are going better. The barn is awesome. I had a bit of a mite scare just before winter myself, but managed to take corrective action in time. The hive is doing great now and all set for winter. I look forward to more videos and keep up the great work!
What a wonderful way to live putting family first; that is true inspiration that hopefully catches on for 2022. I love your videos. They help me relax when the pop up. What you've accomplished and continue to do as well as learn is awe inspiring . I wait with baited breath , hope and excitement for the future video's in you time not mine.
Wow Jim, what an impressive update! I feel your excitement moving forward and I wish you the very best in all your endeavors. Your passion, your standard of excellence as a beekeeper really stand out and kudos to you. Have a fabulous 2022 and I look forward to your next video.
Ha! Know all about that "editing" time! Few know just how many hours get eaten up editing. In addition to the bee videos, I do virtual choir videos, Ugh!
Hire a guy. Fiverr is cheap my man. Keep it up. Hand it off to a young local dude who needs an internship. (for video editing). Keep it up. Beginning my bee keeping journey this year. Already interviewed The dirt roster over a 3 hour video call. :) don't stop my man.!
I always enjoy seeing your videos, Jim! Totally understand not having the time. I look forward to seeing how the bees are doing when you're able to edit and upload. Enjoy your family and your time.
Wow, the outside of the barn looks wicked cool!!! Congrats. I did not build a barn, but I did just order my second Flow Hive and my second package of Caucasian Bees. So excited. Great job.
Hey Jim, I am excited to get started in the Spring! My supplier had a Black Friday special on 5-frame Nucs so that's what I went with. My challenge now is to incorporate deep frames into my extra deep box. I'm noodling a simple extension to the Nuc deeps. This had me thinking that your upcoming build video might include something along this line. It would give people an example of how they might be able to convert existing equipment in case they want to give your design a try. A U-shaped half frame with tabs on the top (pocket screws?) to attach to the bottom bar above it is my current concept.
Residential Designer for 25 years. Agree with everything you are doing with the insulation. I have been studying bees and beehives for a year now. In the process of building my own. Yours are the best I've seen so far in relation to environment for the bees and ease of use for the keeper. Rockwool in the barn is great too!!
Nice shop “I was a very good beekeeper this year” LOL I like the long frame technique, it’s the same philosophy as some of those Russian chest type arrangements. Good work, I agree. I don’t let UA-cam whip my day either. This is my hobby aswell and I don’t let UA-cam whip it the same way as a business. Keep it fun, keep it real.
I've been with you since day one....well, since the first few months anyway.....and the one thing I'm sure of is that barn will last 8 gazillion years.
Thanks for uploading as always!!! Always always enjoy your videos!! BUT your life and your family should always come first!! 🧡🧡 The barn and the bees look amazing!!
Thanks for the update, and I admire your ability to prioritize your time and not pander to the endless quest for more subscribers. You never owe us (the viewers) anything, but many of us probably owe you for sharing of yourself and giving us a place to collaborate and learn. Happy New Year to you and congrats on all of your progress!
You are a legend in your own right, built myself a bee box 📦 barn with a camera 🎥 inside . Have you ever thought about incorporating your beehives into your barn? Yours truly The Candleman🕯

I few things, 1- Great to see you back. 2 - I don't understand who didn't understand the idea behind your new design. Clearly, it was for labour saving from your last setup 3 - Barn looks great. I own a construction firm (in scotland), and I'm a carpenter. 10/10 4 - Don't answer to fools. Do your own thing. You're smashing it. 5 - Does the barn have an upstairs? Cheers Alan
2. There is a percentage of people in the beekeeping world who really hate my channel. And that’s fine by me. I can deal with hecklers and haters and enjoy vigorous debate. It just gets very frustrating and sad when people completely misunderstand you and then go and slander you all over the internet with made up things. 5. Yes, there is a second floor. 14x60’ space that I haven’t even started working on yet. I want to get the workshop functional and will probably try to get the second floor insulated and drywalled before NEXT winter. Thanks for watching!
@Vino Farm Your doing grate mate. Haters will hate if not you someone else. I actually have came across one sit that personally mentioned you in a negative way. The comments where turned off (cowardly). I love how honest your site is mistakes wins and all the bits in between. Not to mention the production is second to none. Keep doing what your doing. Can't wait to see the barn in the future. All th best. Alan
I built a roof 16 ft long by 5 ft wide over the bees to keep the snow off from them and the wind hopefully all seven Hive will make it I ended up getting 21 gallons of Honey out of four hives this year when my brother passed away I bought his spinner that does three frames at a time mine only does two excuse me his does four excited to use it next year looks like we might get a lot of Honey with all the snow we are getting.
Damn dude your wife must really love you like mine we can have all the bee stuff we want I have it next to her car in the garage you should see it I have everything shrink-wrapped to keep the bugs out
I tell you what if you was to build those hives with the insulation I would buy three of them from you I would pay for shipping wow I love these new boxes please let me know what you think when you get your barn done and everything done if you can build any let me know how much it would cost money is no object thank you
That barn! You've always said it was a dream barn. I think I need to dream bigger...LOL! Can't wait to see it completed (no pressure). I'll have to revisited previous videos to see what you had planned for the second story. Thanks for the update!

Great video. So much progress and so much to look forward to. I initially found you through your tomato videos. I love all your side projects from sour dough to doing your roofing. But I’ve been missing the plants and the visual abundance of it, so wondering if you’ll be sprinkling some of those videos along the way too.
Wow. Thats the best way to start this. I can't remember commenting on anyone I follow including you. You were impressive a year ago and more so now. One question, when do you sleep? Thank you so much for all the bee keeping videos and for sharing your experience and learning. If I can ever return what you have given so freely I would be happy to do so. Keep up the great work.

Heyo! I wonder what happened but heck, the barn is a better thing to do than videos for sure. Also maybe take on an editor? So you can make the videos, they come out and you get more youtube hits. But I understand if you can't afford it but just an idea!
Wow what a great barn . I know back when you started it I had told you there was one thing I did not like about it an if you remember it was it was not built at my house . Lol lol . Glad to see your back. Been worried missing your videos. But I noticed watching your video you look paler and skinnier
We get paler in winter up here. And I dropped a lot of COVID pounds last year. Feeling great. Just need sleep.
Focus on the family first.

Happy new year!
Happy New Year. The barn is looking great. Only so many hours in the day to get stuff done. I will be on the lookout for the hive opening videos.
Happy New Year
Happy New Year! Sorry about the drone. :(
It was OK. Two new propellers and right back in the air.
Rockwool insulation is the best I just got done doing 11,000 ft home with that you can't go wrong damned expensive but it is the best
Totally “normal, vegetable seeds.” 😏
Ha ha. Actually just vegetable seeds!
Happy new year
Great Job 👍

I was actually thinking about you the other day...wondering how your bees were doing. Im happy to see this video. WOW! You've been busy.
Beautiful homestead and gorgeous, well-crafted barn! WTG!
That barn! You've always said it was a dream barn. I think I need to dream bigger...LOL! Can't wait to see it completed (no pressure). I'll have to revisited previous videos to see what you had planned for the second story. Thanks for the update!
Have always enjoyed your channel. Please do what is right for you. If you aren't making money from these videos - screw that. It's a job!

Not only new beehives ... but a new beekeeper-hive-shed. And the barndominium mirrors a lot of the new beehive shapes. Was that the same architect? :)
Great video. So much progress and so much to look forward to. I initially found you through your tomato videos. I love all your side projects from sour dough to doing your roofing. But I’ve been missing the plants and the visual abundance of it, so wondering if you’ll be sprinkling some of those videos along the way too.
Wow, congrats on the barn build. It looks fantastic. I can't wait to see the beehive build video. Happy new year!
"I'm from the Northeast because my Barn is *WAY* nicer than my House."
Amazing building. My hubs is jealous!! Well done spoiling youself!
That’s a really nice looking barn. The only fly in the ointment is looking at the amount of stuff you have in there already, I’m betting it won’t be long before you wish it was bigger.
I watched the video you put out about your new insulated hives, but somehow I missed the extra deep frames. Did you put 2 sheets of foundation in each frame?
I’m looking forward to seeing how your bees look in the spring.
You have done well, so interesting the things you have been doing. The new have design is amazing. Be sure to copyright it if it's yours. Genius, just Genius. So glad to see you. Continue to do what's good for you and not your viewers. Take care.

Sorry you had to deal with so much public shaming about your methods or priorities or motivations. Haters suck. You keep doing you. If they don’t like it, there are other places on the internet they can go with their judgement.
The barn looks incredible, can't wait to see the final results. So glad you are putting family first, this is key to a happy life, and the recreation of the bee area with fixing what wasn't working shows dedication that will pay off in spades. Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year 🎊🎈🎆!
I love the story of your growth in bee keeping. Please, please do your program on how to build your insulated hives and show how you build your deep frames. This is my 3rd year keeping bees in my back yard and want to bless the bees and not vex them.
But that wasn’t all of the barn. You still have a attic your keeping Secret from us. Beautiful looking barn tho, can’t wait to see it all finished.
....and i think i Will made something like your hives with dadant blatte but using Cork and roof for solar thermal treatment of varroa
Happy new year!🎉⛄
The seed room would work well also for a fodder room... I don't know if you've looked into that, but it's something to think about and could help with food costs for livestock.

Wow, Thanks for the video and you have been busy. Hope for you and the farm
I love your videos, Jim. Thanks for whatever time you can manage and stay sane doing them. They are inspiring. I fully support your pulling back to make sure you get done what drives you and to spend time with family. I'll keep watching as and when you post! Happy 2022!
Come on buddy, just get yourself an editor! It would probably be a huge stress relief.
I can totally live in that lol 😂 great job 👏 looks beautiful
It's been amazing following your journey this year both here and in Insta. Fantastic turnaround from a difficult start, well done.
Best of luck for 2022!
Happy new year! Glad you and your family and the bees and the barn are all well!! Everything looks great and you seem really happy and less stressed! Best wishes to the Vino Farm!
That is amazing. Would you make a video to explain how to build it
Impressive!
Keep up all the work bud. Love the content. Hire someone to keep your content edited. Lot less stress lol
Glad that you are well. Maybe you should get someone to edit your videos for you. To cut the stress out.
That is a freaking cool looking barn.
Hell its nicer than some houses.

Fantastic update. Barn looks brilliant.
Your version of a mess looks like my version of organized! Glad to hear you are doing well. I don't mind the "walking tour" or Live un-edited videos for updates. Give yourself a break every once and a while.
Thanks!
I keep thinking…. now how can we do this large scale?
