A well maintained railway. I remember CP parking grain cars on subdivisions that were in the process of abandonnement. I don't know how they find parking space now. Nice filming.
I am now forking on a video (format of 1 or 2 to be decided), of AP 41 switching grain cars at Meeting Creek and Rowley, during excursuins to both places in 1991; a year or so after the loco arrived in Alberta and the start of APST. The quality won’t be as good as here, but AP 41 is well featured in closeups. Lots of stalk talk, minimum scenery there and back, it’s a switching video to get her to the front of her train for the return trip (accompanied with the AuxilliarybaWatrr Car at the time). Each about 15 minutes, or a combined video of the two trips, but she does the same thing on botth places; hence the hesitation; I still have to edit everything, to see how it will look. mf
Yes, thank you🙏 Alberta Prairie Railway, this is my favourite way of riding the train, riding in the engine, done it a few times, the best.😄 Even got to drive the old CN6060 when it was in Ontario, drove it round the wye, down at Yager Jct. in Port Colborne, Ontario. I was 15, I'm now 57, talk about a thrill, was amazing. Thank you Tony for sharing this with us.
4:14 mark: I like how the pattern of the music mimics the slow sound of a steam engine. Tony, I appreciate your work on this video. Very enjoyable to watch and to learn from.
Great video Tony! When my husband retired from CP, he was a part-time Locomotive Engineer for Cando in Southern Ontario. The OBRY, Orange Brampton Railway had an excursion train called The Credit Valley Explorer. I used to go for cab rides all the times. :-)
My special needs son loves trains 🚆🛤🚂🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚊🚝🚞🚋 they're one of his favorite things in the whole world 🌎! He sure hopes that the line between Settler and Coronation will be rebuilt and used again and the 6060 will be restored to operation real soon or sooner than soon.
Nice they allowed you to film the ride from the cab, too bad you couldn't be in the cab but likely TSB rules about people being in the cab. Fun trip down to Big Valley. Thanks for sharing.
we had booked a ride years ago. when we got to the station we had just missed the train. we were given a ride to catch it at a crossing. when we boarded. we were given the ovation of shame.
I have watched many times, these GMD-1 units, perhaps even the same one if the transfer record might confirm, pulling the NAR freights and Muskeg-Mixed on the Lac La Biche sub only a block up from my cabin
@@TonyVRailfanningMy special needs son sure hopes that line will be rebuilt and used again for both freight and passenger trains because it is one of his dreams for abandoned and removed railroad tracks to be restored and used again but he does not want that to be wishful thinking he wants it to be a reality.
This GMD-1 was likely obtained from CN. The question for me remains as to whether or not it was among the several operated by the NAR My cabin has always been at mile 88 just a block off of what was the NAR sub from Edmonton to Waterways/Ft Mac The Muskeg Mixed freight/passenger was often seen pulled by a couple of these similar, perhaps even this particular unit. Could have flagged the Mixed from up at my crossing. My Dad and I (who’ve both worked a few seasons at CN over the years) always threatened to flag and get aboard for a trip at least up to Lac La Biche and back….sorry now we never did
that looks like a very interesting trip
Yes, it is very well organized
Very well done vid Tony, visualizing a nice, relaxed weekend leisure train trip through the prairies. I very much believe I would enjoy it! 😃
Thanks as usual, glad you enjoyed it

Thank you, this was a fun one
@@TonyVRailfanning Your welcome and great to hear.
Great video and excellent scenery! Driven through this area and it's always good to see the prairies.
Thank you
Amazing
Thank you!
Another Great Video!!!
Thanks again!

Glad you enjoyed this one Doc, thanks for watching
Another excellent video. Good old prairie railroading with slower speeds and a leisurely atmosphere. Pretty cool!!!
Thanks TG, absolutely a wonderful trip back in time

Tony, I appreciate your work on this video. Very enjoyable to watch and to learn from.
Thank you Mike, I tried to use music that fit the mood of the video

Love all these side stories related to peoples experiences with trains, thanks for sharing
Great video Tony! I've taken that trip twice and it was a lot of fun. It was nice to see the trip from the other perspectives that you showed. Thanks.
It’s a very good trip, the group who run it do an amazing job. Thanks for watching

Thanks Tony loved the train robbery, don't see that on most excursions, brought the old west back, voil they do that, including the donations. 😃
Thank you Doc, much appreciated

Cab ride might be possible but I needed to film along the route so not possible, thanks for watching
Lol. You’re in my town Tony Good work
Than you
we had booked a ride years ago. when we got to the station we had just missed the train. we were given a ride to catch it at a crossing. when we boarded. we were given the ovation of shame.
Well at least you got on board. Some railways would say no refund and no ride

Its very possible, the NAR/CN had many of these and some have survived.
Tony: I wonder if that GMD-1 unit was once in the fleet assumed by CN when it absorbed the assets of the NAR?
I do believe so. I remember this being mentioned in the discussions around me when there
Canadian Trackside Guide 2022, section 3-50 for more info on the 1118
Suppose this is the same line that went through Rowley where we visited in 2012. When was this railway abandoned?
All of the track from Big Valley south through Rawley have been removed sadly. That was done about 10 years ago
@@TonyVRailfanning 1990,s. It was pulled up.

Where was 6060 when the 1118 came past Warden
It’s having some work done on its boiler. It will be back in September

Looks like lots of fun. Is the 1.5 hours for one way, or return trip?
1.5 for one way, passengers disembark in big valley for supper and return 2hrs later for the return trip another 1.5hrs
@@TonyVRailfanning A great day trip for sure
