Hi, guys! I'm Alexandra Revontulet and this is my project Alexandrite. We create Symphonic Metal covers and release them in sets. Each set has four songs outlining the same theme. This is the second song of the James Bond Theme Songs set.
If you've been following me for a while, you might remember that we actually played this song with my first band, Revontulet. If you're one of those people you are absolutely awesome! Leave this 💃 in the comments!😉

And I think that this version turned out to be more complex and interesting, especially thanks to my last-minute addition to the rhythm in the chorus (I had this idea while I was already mixing the song😅).
I think that the original music video for The World Is Not Enough is one of the best videos of that time (and maybe ever). I love the plotline and how it corresponds to the lyrics. The color of my dress and the countdown timer are an homage to that video. By the way, there's an interesting "making of" video about it on UA-cam. And while you're there don't forget to watch mine!😉

Indeed the original version is hard to match, but I think yours is very close. I like it more than Sedonia's version. Now, keeping in mind that I don't have any formal musical training but I'm heavy biased toward metal, I can tell what I feel wrong about your version. Drums. In the original version, the drum establishes a pattern double the speed of your version, while your version has some parts with 2 times that speed which sounds bizarre. In Garbage's version that drum is there to create and maintain the tension, in your version that tension created by drums lacks. I don't know, maybe a bass can help more? Piano. That part you play sounds nice. Not sure it adds something essential (maybe because of that reverb that sometimes saturates the landscape?) but it's much better with it than without. Electric guitar. Bring it a bit more! Especially in the latter parts when the tension is high. Cut from the piano's reverb and you'll have more room for guitar which has more expression. Your voice. It's in the contralto or mezzo-soprano range and quite powerful. But somehow the mixing disfavors it. A bump in volume and a rise in highs to make it a bit more luminous I think couldn't hurt, after all, you want to take over the world, you don't think about that under a blanket.
Again, I may be mistaken in my observations, just consider them the effect of what I feel when I listen to your version.

@@milutzuk Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed comment, but you do realize that basically everything you mentioned, especially specific instrument parts, is a matter of taste and preference, right?😉I happen to like it the way I made it (and I might add that I have years of formal musical and sound production training, so I have a pretty solid idea of what I want to achieve and how to do it), you can always make your own version and make the changes you suggested 😉 Speaking of mixing, having such a saturated song and putting vocals still on top is always challenging (check out the new Nightwish song for instance😉), especially, if you don't have enough time to double check everything, and I never have😅
