Couple things to just add on top of the functionality you’ve shown here to maybe make the navigation easier... Double tap the shift button to “lock” it, so you’re not having to hold it whilst using other buttons or encoders. You showed how holding and letting go of a button can temporarily show a view, that’s the case with all of the buttons. This is because they’re all momentary, so it’s not “just” the session/note mode button 😊 Really enjoyed the video. Learnt some new stuff. Thanks ☺️
I had no idea about the per step automation, awesome tip man. Sorry, but for your first tip, you don't need to hold shift nor loop button, just click loop button once and use the big wheel to select whatever odd or normal loop length you want. That's been mentioned everywhere loop length has been shown, not trying to burst your bubble or anything.
wow great finds! this is really promising as parameter locks and adjustable loop lengths are really great features almost like the Polyend Play + groovebox, i hope @ableton keeps developing the Move software to incorporate all the latest and best features.
Remember that you can also use the capture button to record your automation take. You can’t even do that in Ableton Live. Yet! Boy do I love that capture button!
good stuff bro! been playing around with mine the last couple of days and really having a great time with it! I packed up my entire studio due to Hurricane Helene and I haven't had the motivation to set everything up again and spend the hours trying to figure out how to get everything talking -- and now that my Move arrived this week, I'm really quite enjoying the extra space on my desk! I think I'll just leave everything boxed up for a couple more months while I get more familiar with the Move. it really scratches that "need to jam" itch very quickly. I predict this will be a legendary groovebox.
@@baconbigbeats-they're very different. Move is definitely more of a musical sketchpad, IMO. Which isn't to say the DT is bad, it isn't, they're just so different in terms of workflow and capabilities. Move is a cool little self-contained package.
Excellent tip about the freely definable sequence length, thanks a lot for sharing! I was thinking if it was possible to transpose clips while they are playing by holding either the channel button or the clip button and pressing arrow up or down, but it did not work. Would be a logical thing to implement...
You can actually, but you have to be in Loop mode, press and hold the steps (which are representing bars in this Loop mode) and then use the up/down arrows.
It's certainly more portable. It's a sketchpad. You won't be doing full productions on one, but it's pretty cool. It's a good "accessory" to Ableton Live itself, IMO.
Epic tips my man! So with mine, I haven’t found a way to quickly reset parameters when done performing live. Like in my digitakt’s “performance mode”. Any idea?
You can kind of do this with automation. In your clip, lock all macros to the desired default values on the first step. If you want to perform, on the scene view, make a copy of the clip and launch it and twist knobs. When done, launch the original clip again and it'll reset the parameters. You can then delete the performance clip or overwrite it later. I usually use the last column/scene for this.
@@summarity The problem with that approach is it's not instant like with DT. Also it uses a slot, which can prove costly on a full song build. But if that's the only way then I guess it is what it is. :/
You can record automation, and then disable the recorded automation by pressing mute + the automated encoder. Not.sure if this brings you back to the pre recorded values though, im in bed right now can't test it xD

Great find! Especially the step automation. Surprised they didn’t highlight that
Love it, would like more of these synth tutorials on Move!

Now this is the kind of content I like to see, keep it up my man!

This does make me like my new Move a little more :) Thank you
great explanation. would love to see more like this!
man this is helpful! thank you!
Never tried the per step locks--thanks for that.
Super cool ❤
You're right... I too seen no one else talking about these features and they're so good. thanks for sharing 🫶
“I didn’t realize I needed this… Why did I even click?”😅
I’m looking for something to fill the gap in my life since selling my digitakt. And this is wonderful news.
I have both. Love both. Digitakt is better.

Awesome Tips!
Awesome! Is it possible to set up a polymetric pattern per sound in a drum rack as well?
Not yet from what I’ve been able to find.
I'd love that, but i dont think that'll ever be possible, since all pads/notes are contained within one track/clip.
Nice one
Thank you!!!
Question: when you already own a push 3 … is move a good Addition to push or not?

Yes im getting the move have a push already use it for my live sets

Probably just save a duplicate set tbh
