Lachrimæ Lyræ - Tears of Exile by Sokratis Sinopoulos, L'Acheron & François Joubert-Caillet

This collaboration between a consort of viols and the Greek lyra takes John Dowland’s Lachrimæ or Seaven Teares as its point of departure; together they paint a transverse and stateless picture of melancholy, although this is set against the joyful hope of a shining future that appears in these improvisations and timeless Anglo-Byzantine dances.

Somptueux ! En tant que luthiste, mille fois j'ai travaillé ce morceau, mais le son des violes est une pure merveille, l'arrangement est parfait, la prise de son superbe... bravo... tout ces talents à l'honneur de John Dowland, un génie de la mélancolie, baroque avant l'heure... on ne saurait dire qui, de Shakespeare et de Dowland, a le plus servi l'autre ! Bravo et merci

not the Greek lyra, but the politiki lyra ( from Constantinopoulos or Istanbul) today "klasik kemençe"

Nachtuil36 Yes, but it was played almost exclusively by Greeks until Alekos Bacanos started playing Turkish classical music on it, so it’s an honest oversight. Certainly it isn’t exclusively Greek today.
