You'll never know what nostalgic memories this upload of yours provoked in me: back at the '90, my harpsichord's teacher and me played Padre Soler's concerto for 2 harpsichords at the front-yard of one of the wine producers' palace, in Cocconato d'Asti (Piedmont, north Italy). It was a private concert before not more than 50 people, as part of the autumn celebrations of this mountain village. I was ill then, and had to squeeze myself into ancient clothes, while we had only one day to rehearse. All the people in this village wore ancient clothes, presented old crafts from the Middle Ages, including performances by jugglers and 'burning witches' in a central bonfire. For me it was the 1st time in my life I participated this kind of celebration, and 1st time I played Soler. My teacher was critic about Soler's too many repeats and told me to erase some of them. Thanks a lot for this amusing music and very good performance - even on a Pleyel harpsichord :)

I am glad that this brought back memories to you! Funnily enough I was listening this morning to Soler's concertos for two keyboards on another vinyl... do you remember which one you played? Considering the light and easy nature of those concertos, I guess that all those repeats you mentioned might have been related to the music being conceived as some sort of background entertainment, maybe to be played at some sort of social gathering while people chat etc.. just a thought, I don't know really.

@@theclavierist I don't remember which concerto we were performing, however - I think you are right to assume that it was "some sort of background entertainment"
