  • Dogo peddlers out there with those one-up Puma Killers just keep on d-r-e-a-m-i-n ! Outside of sight hounds and ratting Terriers I think people forget domestic dogs really aren't very good at catching and killing big wild animals solo. Think about it thinking face who hunts Puma with one single catch dog? How does a dog catch one by himself there has never been a catch dog capable of hunting Puma's season after season solo hunting whipping and trashing one around is not killing. And so many of you don't understand cats fight on their backs for reason kitchen knife face with head bandage even house cats. To all you Dogo guys and girls out there with your solo Killers I have to ask who is hunting a single Dogo when the dogs were bred to hunt in packs and every time I have ever seen them hunting puma in Argentina they are in packs most often with galgos and galgo X's, that nobody wants to talk about, and ninety percent of the time there's got you Border Collies their too.

I remember when Mr. Richard Stratton was interviewed by Dogumentary and spoke about how folks way back when would have events where they would put a game dog in with a lion, and sometimes the dog would win. However, a game dog would win not by taking out the beast but by getting the lion to throw in the towel and escape the scrap. Even so, I wouldn't start calling bulldogs lion tamers. Many bulldogs would meet their end in these events, and if you tried putting most bulldogs against a lion today, nobody would be surprised if folks ended up losing their dogs.

    • @ajdaames
      @ajdaames 9 місяців тому

Seeing is believing. Cats are not currs. Cats are hunters and will not risk an injury that would prevent them from hunting. If you can’t hunt you die. Cheetahs run away from wild dogs, hyenas and lions and let them steal their prey. Better to lose a meal than not be able to hunt again.

@@The_Superpack You're right, buddy. I agree with everything you said. I just wanted to show that while there are dogs that can square up to a big cat, that does not mean the dog actually kills the big cat. Some folks will disagree about them getting near 100 lbs. And while most of them are not, the ADBA does say in their confirmation standards that ideal conditioned weight can get up to 75 lbs. And that is conditioned weight. Maybe someone could get one up to 80 lbs if they feed them more and are more concerned about muscle gain. So some could technically be considered near 100 lbs.

@@Swell_Character I have two that will be around 90 if fed right on a chain later when they grow old their dad is 75 to 80 conditioned depending on how u feed him. Peaked out really lean hed still be 60s with a sighthound build. These non working people are utter nonsense and full of crap. I will send a catchweight on any cat under 200 lbs and he has zero chance if it goes longer then five min and they will def kill most of em. A cat has no idea what to do half the time with that much pressure and is a cur and also burns up with heat in minutes lol they are the ultimate niche predators that STALK their prey lol dogs are game and go head up with prey and can on film fight longer then any animal on Earth…. documented proven no debating it… they are the gamest creature. Their is a reason humans stopped matching cats and only match chickens and dogs usually as they have the longest fights…. Dogs are on another planet better at killing ur average cat at 100 lbs has a tiny head and only like an inch claws whereas as dog would have a huge head and about the same size teeth. It is not that serious lol Dogs will beat them around same size

Makes sense and I believe it. Pitbulls were bred to fight and have that gameness. A cougar, being a wild animal, it's main instinct is always going to be survival. If it didn't choose to fight and it makes sense it would choose to flee if the other animal is putting up enough of the fight and won't back down. It's just not worth it. That's why you see lions back down from honey badgers. A cougar in that situation would just want to get the hell out of captivity and probably only engage the dog because it was an immediate threat. The cougar would have lost based on the rules of the fight game but that doesn't mean it couldn't beat the dog or even kill it. It most certainly would.

There is absolutely nothing a pit bull could do to a lion. I have had many pit bulls, but this is a story that needs to die. Mountain Lion are NOT hunting Grey Wolves in the U.S. That's the silliest idea ever. Don't know where that nonsense came from, but I guarantee it is false.
A wild Puma in it's natural habitat is unlikely to even be near your dog. Predators like Puma (and bear for that matter) are actually pretty rare to encounter in the wild.
I've tromped around the woods more than 90% of the people who will ever watch this video. I've seen thousands of Elk and Deer, maybe 20-25 Bear, and exactly ONE fleeting glance of a Mountain Lion. Predators are smart, they smell and hear you coming and there's tons of brush and grass to hide in. They could be 15 yards from you; you wouldn't know. And by and large they want nothing to do with you. They're looking for dinner and the easier and less likely it is to fight back, the better.
It takes a pack of hounds to even tree a Mountain Lion and it often takes all day. Ask any hound hunter - you'll start before dawn and have your cat treed in the dark that night and maybe into the wee hours of the next morning.

Lions have up to 4500N measured (from national geographic as source), whereas the ONLY dog bite study I could find that included living cane corso didn't even put them above "pitbull" (which I am assuming is actually an XL bully), and rottweilers. Still, the dog would be so gashed in the face that the Argentinian owners always put it out of commission for the sole purpose of breeding "Puma Killers" and to pedal the pups for a higher price. In other videos, larger breeds have been documented pinning dogo Argentinos against the ground in fights of dominance and unaltered cats killing dogos in seconds.

"To all you Dogo guys and girls out there with your solo Killers I have to ask who is hunting a single Dogo when the dogs were bred to hunt in packs and every time I have ever seen them hunting puma in Argentina they are in packs most often with galgos and galgo X's, that nobody wants to talk about, and ninety percent of the time there's got you Border Collies their too."
The reason the dogo is tested in the pen on mountain lions 1 on 1 is because the reality for a free-running catch dog is, even if used in a pack, they WILL find themselves fighting the quarry alone, many times throughout their career. I know this as someone from a long boar-dogging heritage. Pack doesn't matter, any catch dog in your pack better be able to handle itself 1 on 1.
This is why free-running catch dogs have never been used on lions or tigers, because it doesn't matter if you use a pack, you can use a pack of 8000, 1 of them will get on the cat first, and it has to be able to handle itself in a fight with the cat or it will simply be killed immediately. For this reason lions and tigers are off the table for catch dog use, and always have been.
But free-running catch dogs ARE viable on mountain lions, and it is because they can beat them up. This is not a dogo hyping thing, there is absolutely nothing special about the dogo argentino, it applies to ANY boarhound (bull x sighthound) type dog. What is actually being over-hyped, in a very widespread global epidemic way, is the mountain lion, and in fact all wild predators to an extent. People are just mesmerised and hypnotised by them and think of them like they are mystical superheroes. They are not. They are balanced humble wild survivalists. Cats are genuinely elite efficient killers, this is true, and that makes them dangerous hazardous quarry. But they are very poor fighters, very very very poor fighters. Who is the last great UFC champion who had no stamina and gassed out after 25 seconds of physical exertion? That's right, there isn't one. Dogos can beat up pumas close to their size and should be expected to. The puma has far superior killing ability, but to use that it first needs to win a fight, and most likely a decent dogo will prevent that outcome.
Most people have no idea what they are talking about on this topic. Uploader included.

Cats also only fight on their backs when they are losing and on the defensive. A dominant winning cat doesn't lay down on its back. You can find hundreds of videos of leopards killing street dogs and they don't go lay down under them, they pin them down and kill them. A cat on its back is having a terrible time and desperately trying to claw off its antagonist.

The dog was to assist the human in fighting wild animals. Dog alerts the humanand then the human shoot the wild animals or a pack of dogs nip at the wild animals until the human show up with the gun. Something like that. . I have to agree with you Sir.

No one dog (of any breed) can kill healthy, adult(even young) puma. Even an adult bobcat will kill pretty much any dogs. People just don't understand what they are talking about. Cats have a very different fighting techniques than the dogs. They use all four paws and jaws when dogs use just their jaws....

Dogo owner here! I always heard Morocho fought the puma in protection of two little girls in the family. If he killed it idk but I absolutely expect my dogo to protect me against anything. He is very courageous. Morocho confronting the puma allowed the girls time to get away to safety. He was in a severe condition but recovered and lived out the rest of his days. I never heard he killed it.

Lol dogo isnt killing a healthy mountain lion 1 on 1...a cougar could definitely kill a lone wolf. A kangal isnt killing lions and bears... people are so gullible. These videos you see online the cat is declawed or defanged or the cat has been shot by the hunter already

Morocho may have saved the girls , but it was likely because the cat gave up. Predators aren't usually looking for a fight. They'll just go find prey that doesn't fight back.

Dogos are one of my favorites breed, but my parents will kill me if I ever get one, because unfortunately, here in Italy, dogos have a really bad reputation due to irresponsible owners. I'll get one anyway someday 😂❤

Zeke my brother, C'mon 😂. You know good and well no single Dogo is killing a Puma/Mountain Lion/Catamount or whatever people want to call them. Folks that tell these stories are the same doofuses telling stories about Boerbels being "Lion killers" in Africa. Don't even give them any light because by doing so, even if you intend to dispell the nonsense, you are making a chance that someone will look them up and maybe believe them. Keep spreading the truth and great information that you do. ✌️

The general rule imo is any cat larger than 60lbs is near impossible for any breed or species of canine to take on 1v1.
Cats are just built too well for the quick takedown and can use their front paws for combat. Dogs can only use their jaws to do the dispatch.
I do think a Dogo can handle small puma subspecies like the Florida Panther which are not as large or powerfully built like other Pumas. But mostly the "Puma Killer" Dogo is all hype and no bite.

I’ve seen videos not in UA-cam where dogos kills pumas, unfortunately the owner of this channel does not have common sense and interviews dogo hunters from Argentina.I’ve spoken to them and all coincide that if a good dogo is capable of bite first the puma is pretty much done deal. Please channel owner investigate first and do not sell controversy.

I would put my money on the 150 pound 700 psi bite force Cane Corso over a Dogo Argentino that is 90lbs and 500 psi bite force. But... the way the founder's grandson told the story "Morocho is our hero" It is realistic that the dog is willing to give up it's life to save the little girls that he loved so much. My dogo Argentino is a female who can kill a grizzly bear IF I am there with my S&W 500 revolver that will put a 900 pound bear that can run 30 mph on his ass. But without that gun my dog and I are SCREWED.

Bite force means nothing, it’s about the gaminess and movement. Dogos are a lot more swift in movement than a Corso. Almost cat like.
